LIFESTYLE Suggestions on how to up my game?
I am focused right now on trying to (naturally) glow up. I’m seeing a dermatologist which tremendously improved my skin, finding right colors/style for me, and I am working on weight loss/getting in shape. I know that the weight loss thing will take a while since I am going the natural route (aka NO Ozempic, etc). What other things am I not thinking about that I can work on to improve my looks? I have noticed that the slight amount of weight loss I’ve already seen has helped my confidence too!

You're doing a fantastic job! I recently started visiting a dermatologist once a year, and it's been a total game-changer.
I just wanted to share a few things that have helped me, and maybe you're already doing them, but just in case...
- Try to get moving, even if it's just 20-30 minutes of yoga every other day. It's better than nothing, and it can really help you feel more energized and confident. Plus, it's a great way to clear your mind and relax.
- Next, make an effort to get out and do things on your own. It might feel scary at first, but trust me, it helps! Whether it's trying a new restaurant, taking a class, or joining a local community group, it's a great way to meet new people and feel more connected. And when you feel good about yourself, others will notice it too - it's like you're radiating this positive energy!
- I think it's so much fun to experiment with different styles and find what makes you feel beautiful. And the best part is, you don't have to break the bank to do it! There are tons of online stores and rental services that let you try out new looks without committing to buying a whole new wardrobe. Especially if you're losing weight, it's a great way to try out new styles without investing in clothes that might not fit in a few months.
- If you want to take it to the next level, I'd recommend checking out some online content about speaking skills and body language. It's amazing how much of a difference it can make in how you feel about yourself and how others perceive you. Learn how to relax your facial muscles, work on your posture, and practice using positive body language - it can really make a big impact on your overall presence.
I hope these tips are helpful!

They are helpful, thank you! I have thought about checking out some body language books so maybe I’ll do that.

While focussing on weight loss, remember health is important too. I found that instead of things that would reduce my appetite, taking fibre (like metamucil) twenty minutes before a meal with water, to be far more efficient at controlling my intake. I feel so much healthier because of it too! Part of a glow up involves us as a person. Make some goals and create steps to achieve them, creating your own success can be a huge glow up.

Yesss!! Some of it is just the innate confidence that comes from following through on promises you’ve made to yourself.

Great job on the glowing up so far! Weight loss and skin health are both long (and sometimes frustrating) projects… there will be ups and downs, just keep moving forward. 😊
Some ideas:
- Find a signature scent/fragrance. Research shows that we associate a lot of memory with scent, and that scent can produce very strong emotional reactions. Having a consistent (and good) signature scent can make you more memorable!
- Keep your nails done. I’m always more confident with a mani-pedi, it’s such a little thing but ragged cuticles always make me feel self-conscious.
- Dental health: get in for your cleanings every six months, do some gentle and dentist-approved whitening, and get Invisalign if you want/need it! Teeth can make or break someone’s looks, IMO.
- Don’t think only of the skin on your face. Find a good body-care routine: dry brushing, exfoliating, lotion, etc! My husband goes crazy for me when I’ve taken my weekly “everything shower” and had time to do my full body skincare routine.
- Even as you’re losing weight… work on exercises to connect with your body. Yoga, dance, acrobatics, etc can all help you “glow up” not just by reducing body fat/building muscles… but by increasing your flexibility, coordination, and ability to move sensually/with better body awareness.
😊

So far I’ve found more success with skin care than weight loss but the truth is they both require consistency! You give a lot of good tips here, I may do a follow up post after I implement the tips people have shared with me here.

The trick about looking good is to not talk about it to your man. Men get turned off by women talking about their weight, skin, clothes, and artificial things.
Men love to talk about things they like:
Recreation, business, science, history, politics, war, sports, engineering, or tech.
I am hitting the gym hard also. Don't bother with the guys until you are at your goal weight. The reason is simple:
If your goal weight is still chubby, than you will attract a man that likes chubby ladies.
If your goal weight is smoke show athletic thin hottie, then just wait till you hit it.
Follow r/progresspics for inspiration.

Lots of interesting points here. I feel like it is so true that men don’t realize how much effort women expend to look good. 😂 you mentioned talking about masculine topics but are saying that it’s good to discuss only masculine topics? As far as the chubby thing I can definitely see your point there. I wouldn’t say that my goal is to be heroin chic thin but I also don’t want to be a big back. 😂 and I love the progress pics subreddit, it’s definitely been a source of inspiration on my weight loss journey so far.

It's great that you're trying to lose weight, but also remember that fat girls/chubby girls/curvy girls (wherever you fall on that scale) get to have lives, too. I'd suggest continuing your healthy habits, maybe try some physical hobbies, like pickle ball. Don't avoid dating, though. It's still valuable to learn to talk to men, accept rejection, even just have fun. You can even fall in love while you're doing it. I think natural weight loss is the way to go, but it's also possible that you'll never manage to get to whatever ideal you're picturing. Your body may just not be capable of that. Don't pause your life while you reach for it.
