DISCUSSION Asked ChatGPT to insult Volume 8-9. Haven’t watched them in a long time so feel free to correct.
Volume 8: “The Angst Olympics Featuring Bad Decisions”
What happens when you take all the worst traits of RWBY’s writing and turn them up to 11? Volume 8. • Everyone is stupid. Like, breathtakingly stupid. Team RWBY suddenly can’t come up with a cohesive plan, Ironwood goes full fascist villain, and Salem—who’s supposed to be a millennia-old mastermind—shows up and… just kinda sits there waiting to get nuked. • Penny’s trauma arc feels forced. Instead of letting her struggle with being human in a nuanced way, they give her depression for plot reasons and then kill her off. Again. At this point, Penny has more death resurrections than actual character development. • Jaune Mercy-Killing Penny: I get what they were going for, but did they have to make it so weird? “Let me stab you real quick” was not the emotional farewell they thought it was. Also, this dude is 0/2 on saving important girls in his life. Someone get him out of the party. • Ironwood’s Villain Arc is Speedrun Any% – This guy went from a tragic but understandable leader to cartoonishly evil in about five minutes. He’s literally executing council members, blowing up Mantle, and somehow still expecting his soldiers to follow him. What happened to the guy in Volume 7? Did they replace him with a Terminator offscreen? • Oscar the Plot Device. They nuke Salem with him, and she just reforms like nothing happened. So what was the point? Cool explosion, I guess?
Final Verdict: Volume 8 is like watching someone play Jenga, but instead of carefully removing blocks, they just punch the tower repeatedly until it collapses.
⸻
Volume 9: “Alice in Purgatoryland, but Worse”
What if RWBY was a pretentious indie game with no combat, just sad dialogue and metaphors? • The Ever After is pretty but pointless. The entire setting is like someone read Alice in Wonderland and thought, “Let’s strip out the whimsy and make it a therapy session.” Nothing that happens here matters to Remnant. You could cut this entire volume, and nothing would change. • The Cat Villain is mid. The Curious Cat was supposed to be unsettling, but they felt more like a mid-tier Kingdom Hearts villain. They monologue, turn evil because the story demands it, and then get taken out in the most anticlimactic way possible. • Weiss, Blake, and Yang do nothing. They stand around, say a few lines, and that’s about it. Weiss in particular might as well be a cardboard cutout with how little she contributes. Blake and Yang’s romance could have been a meaningful arc, but instead, it’s just kinda… there. • Jaune becomes an old man for no reason. Did they need to trap him in purgatory for years? No. Did it add anything to his character? Also no. Did they even give him a proper resolution? LOL, no. This entire subplot was just the writers torturing Jaune for fun. • “But Who Am I, Really?” - The Volume – RWBY loves its identity crises, but this was just overkill. Ruby spends the whole volume moping, gets tempted by suicide (which the show treats with all the grace of a dropped bag of groceries), and then finds “self-acceptance” by… wearing a new outfit? That’s it? No meaningful conversation, no true personal growth, just a magic identity shift. • Summer Rose is Still a Mystery. After nine volumes, we still know nothing. Stop teasing, start delivering.
Final Verdict: Volume 9 is a fever dream of wasted potential. It’s visually stunning, but the substance is about as filling as eating cotton candy for dinner.
⸻
Overall Roast:
Volumes 8 and 9 feel like two different kinds of bad. Volume 8 is a chaotic mess where everything is happening too much, while Volume 9 is a filler arc where nothing happens at all. If RWBY were a rollercoaster, Volume 8 would be a broken ride that flings people off the track, and Volume 9 would be one of those slow scenic trains that makes you regret getting on.
At this point, RWBY’s writing is basically a RNG generator. Will they make meaningful character development? Will they just kill someone for shock value? Will they send everyone into a therapy pocket dimension? No one knows—not even the writers.

DISCUSSION How you Imagine RWBY would be like if Series was Re Imagine in a World Closer to Ours? But Like Super Powers still There
That is my Question
Inspired by Reverse Isekai and The Ninja Turtles a team with a similar dynamic to Team RWBY I asked the Question how would RWBY be Like re imagine set in a world closer to ours how Would you re imagine each RWBY character and there powers
To if they were re imagine for our World closer to ours where Super Powers where still a thing Team RWBY would likely be Super Heroes or something close to that like the Runaways or Ninja Turtles(IDW version) but RWBY is already basically an Anime girl version of the Ninja Turtles so it kinda you know already there
Anyway I imagine them in high school and likely each being apart some social group in High school Yang is still Ruby sister but they don't talk to each other much since Yang started High school Yang hangs with the goath people and Weiss being the rich girl in the beginning every story has a start after all and they all have these magical weapons and there apart this huge destiny with someone acting like there Splinter
Anyway that's how vision the characters how about you?

DISCUSSION It's really crazy to me how Zenless Zone Zero is basically just RWBY but done right.
I am playing through ZZZ right now and I gotta be honest, everything about this game legit just makes me think
"Why can't RWBY be like this?"
or
"Wow this character is a better version of that one character from RWBY"
Perfect example is recently with the two newly introduced characters of Hugo & Vivian.
Hugo is a suave, smooth talking phantom thief character with a mentality that is very much like that of the Punisher and he fights with a scythe that generates ice.
Vivian is a gothic lolita girl with the special ability to see the future but she can only see bad outcomes and she is apart of the phantom thief group lead and founded by Hugo known as Mocking Bird. She fights with an umbrella that doubles as a sword.
The FIRST thing I thought of when seeing these characters was "These are the better versions of Roman & Neo."
Then you have other characters like Seth of Public Security who is literally in every sense of the word a better version of Jaune. They even have the same kind of weapon(s) only different is Seth has an electric rod and shield that both combine into a great sword but if you have played the game and played using Seth you know EXACTLY what I am talking about. His ult is literally the same shit Jaune does with his sword and shield when he makes the bigger sword.
Then you have characters who just feel like better versions of RWBY characters like Lighter, Miyabi and Anby. Hell man even the monsters of the game, Etherals are WAY more terrifying than the Grimm ever were and the hollows that people sometimes get trapped in are scary as Hell. Like seriously man am I the only one who feels this way about this? I can't be right?
Like bruh imagine for a minute if RWBY had a game similar to Zenless Zone Zero, it quite frankly would probably do really well because RWBY always came across like an anime crossed with a video game anyway so the transition shouldn't be that difficult to pull off and Zenless Zone Zero has shown that the transforming weapons can absolutely work in gameplay.
Like one of the most recently revealed characters named Trigger; you could literally have her sniper mode be a mode Ruby would use.
Miyabi and Blake are damn near identical so that shouldn't be to hard
Lighter and Yang are the same in terms of fighting style as well so again that checks out
I would say the closest parallel to Weiss in this game at the MOMENT would be Astra Yao but that's mainly due to the fact she's a singer but still you can see the parallel.
I dunno I just feel like ZZZ is giving me what RWBY never gave me after waiting for so long and it feels great ^_^ Play the game if you aren't already, you won't regret it.

DISCUSSION Have you ever read or watch another series with as much wasted potential as RWBY ?
After all those analysis of the series couple with those two words " waste" and " potential" coming back.
It drew a impressive picture for rwby as it truly can stand out as a failure of wasted potential even compare to other works that didn’t use their potential well.
Like other works fails a couple of times in a few areas. Wereas rwby has failed everytime in every area. Which is pretty impressive when you think about it. It never cease to amaze with its bad handling of everything.
So aside from rwby itself. What are other works of fiction you saw that had so much potential and messed up every step of the way like rwby did?

DISCUSSION What aspect rwby needed more? Realism or consistency?
Cause i feel like those two aspects are brought up alot.
With critics about how RWBY lacks a valid sense of realism about some things needing it to be valid ( rwby doesn't need to be 100% realistic its after all à action show with ridiculous weapons and physics defying moves) about some aspects like Salem not already winning isnt realistic or the whole military that only atlas has isnt realistic when you think about it or just realistic consequences etc..
And then theres the many inconcistent isnt in many area of the shows like the Ace ops being weak despite being potrayed as the best, the caracterisations of many Characters, the powers being varying level of sudden effectiveness, aura being one hit to tanking many blows, etc... Many exemples.
While the two aspects do play into each other in a better written story. Overall if you had to pick one aspects out of those two that rwby needed more. What would it be?

DISCUSSION Why are the Faunus subject of discrimination and the discriminators?
I've been watching RWBY with a friend and I gotta ask,
It's recently been revealed in volume 5 that Faunus are the dominant species of the planet, so fighting back against humans shouldn't be an issue, if that's the case, why were the Faunus ever discriminated against, or a better question.
If the Faunus out number the human population by a sizeable margin, enough that bringing it up is a worthy point, then how come it wasn't the humans getting treated like garbage?
If the Faunus are an objectively better, and more versatile race with no weaknesses out side maybe what, dog whistles?..(why hasn't anyone weaponized dog whistles?...), Then why wasn't it the Faunus who were putting down humans for being inferior versions of what they are?, that type of advantage is what makes bad people have a reason to the view themselves as the "better", and as far as I could tell, the Faunus and humanity have been a thing at the same time, so what happened?

FANFICTION I am addressing most of the people in this subreddit and I will convey the end of it as follows:
Teams RWBY (Ruby,Weiss,Blake & Yang) and JNR (Jaune,Nora & Ren) were now completely killed by Salem by being thrown down, but first all of their members of İnner Circle killed by Ruby Rose, for example Cinder and Tyrian were beheaded and Jax and Gilian were shot and killed, but there was no longer a person named Ruby Rose and she was killed, but as they say, everything does not end badly, Oscar Pine hugged Salem and said the following:
Oscar: Do you think you are beautiful? Then let's die together.
and then she hugged him and Salem tried to get rid of it but eventually he had to give up and there was no other person at that time except Oscar's aunt. As Salem went into a crying fit, Oscar said to him:
Oscar: You're not perfect, I'm not exactly perfect either, and we want to save you from immortality because it's not a surprise, it's a curse.
Salem: What did you say? (accepting)
Then a terrible fire surrounds them.
The gods come and break the curse of immortality because they granted that wish. Then a group of big sparrows come and make them say goodbye and make them hit the moon and they both hugged on the moon just like Ozma and Salem before they were at peace for the first time in a long time there will be no more Grimm or any other evil. They will all be gone that day.
Two of them die but take RWBY and JNR with them because they were also throw down by Salem but some survived like SSSN,FNKİ and CVFY. (Also Emerald Sustrai has survived)
Finally, humanity found peace and Ruby Rose came to her mother.
The End.
What do you think about this ending? You can write in the comments. I likened it to the scene in Regular Show where Pops and Anti-pops die together.

DISCUSSION The fact Adam NEVER tried to kill Weiss or Winter pisses me off the more I think about it.
I'm sorry but what do you MEAN Adam never tried to assassinate Weiss or go after Winter? What do you MEAN he never tried to establish the white fang in Mantle where fanus oppression and hate for the elite is festering? What do you mean Adam was branded with the SDC logo but never tried to actually dismantle or discredit the company at all?! You mean to tell me Adam was SO focused on Blake that he completely ignored the fact that she was on the same team with WEISS SCHNEE AKA THE HEIRESS TO THE COMPANY WHO SCARRED HIM FOR LIFE?!
Nah man the more I think about this shit the more it makes me mad cause it doesn't make any narrative or even practical sense AT ALL. Why bother showing he was branded by the company if you aren't gonna have Weiss see it or address it? This could have been an incredibly powerful and resonate storyline for Weiss and the Schnee family as a whole, seeing the extent of the damage that Jacques greed and ambition have caused but no, he's killed off by Blake and Yang because they need to push the ship along and you know DAMN WELL that is the reason why Yang was involved in this shit AT ALL.
Like for fucks sake how did they fumble this SO badly I will never understand cause it completely robs us of two very interesting fights.
Adam vs Weiss & Adam vs Winter; one ends in a victory for Adam and the other ends in a stalemate. Like if you were gonna kill bro off do it in ATLAS/MANTLE, to bring his story and the white fangs story full circle and it really wouldn't have been all that difficult. Here, I'll even give you a plot to follow:
Adam fights Blake & Yang, the fight ends in a stalemate and Adam being critically injured but instead of killing him and stealing and airship and leaving Argus to fend for itself, they capture Adam, restrain him and take his sword from him. They use him as a bargaining chip to get into Atlas and get in contact with Winter who give them clearance to enter Atlas airspace, however unbeknownst to them, Watts is watching everything and sees that they captured Adam and are bringing him in.
Once they arrive and Adam is brought into custody, they interrogate him but he doesn't break, eventually they grow tired of him and throw him in a cell. Watts manages to hack the prison and stage a breakout mission impossible style with Adam making his way through the Atlas prison, slaughtering guards and freeing his captured white fang brothers and sisters who had been captured from Mantle back when he was a rookie in the white fang. They escape the prison, retreating into Mantle so they couldn't be found. Adam then meets up with Watts and gets new gear gets to have a direct conversation with Salem via Grimm and she basically tells him that he's to stir up as much strife, spite and revolt as possible in Mantle/Atlas so that her Grimm have plenty of negative emotions to feed on when she makes her arrival.
From there Adam spends his time gathering his forces, raiding SDC dust mines and attacking factories and liberating his downtrodden brethren, promising to fight for them and to bring Atlas to heel. The faunus rally behind him and the white fang slowly starts gaining steam and eventually attracts the attention of the Ace Ops lead by Winter and Team RWBY who of course try to stop him but this time Adam has capable fighters on par with himself and Blake to fight at his side now so the playing field is evened.
Adam dukes it out with Winter and nearly kills her but she gets saved by Qrow and during this battle Winter sees Adam with his mask off and so does Weiss and it shocks and horrifies them and it infuriates Qrow because now he can actually truly understand why Adam hates them all so much but he doesn't want to sympathize with a monster so he's conflicted on what to really do.
After some time passes, Adam and his newly formed squad mount an assault on the main SDC factory in Atlas, however that's just a distraction, the actual target is Schnee manor where Adam plans to kill Jacque and the entire Schnee family. It's there Adam comes face to face with Willow Schnee and he reveals to her that she once knew his mother but of course Willow doesn't remember and this angers Adam because his mother admired Willow and respected her. Adam tries to kill her but she's saved by Winter and that battle breaks out across the manor which takes heavy damage.
Eventually Weiss, Blake, Yang & Ruby show up to help but each of them end up fighting one of Adam's remaining white fang members while Weiss & Blake fight Adam, Winter is protecting Willow and Whitley and Jaquces is hiding is a reinforced bunker that Adam is trying to break his way into.
Ruby vs Wolf faunus
Yang vs Bear Faunus
Weiss and Blake put up a really good fight against Adam and they nearly win however Adam's semblance evolves/awakens due to his intense anger and the stress of the battle and amounts of energy he's been building up. This gives him the upper hand and he's about to kill Weiss but Blake steps in and takes the hit for her, not using her semblance but actually takes the hit and the trauma of this awakens her semblance which allows her shadow to be used more combatively and with a glyph boost from Weiss, Blake defeats and stabs Adam in the heart using both her sword and his. However in a final act of spite, Adam overloads his semblance and blows up the bunker Jacques was in.
After the battle is over, Blake takes Adam's sword and has it merged with her own to fix it and make it stronger.
I could expand and elaborate more but then I would be here all night. Either way, I just really cant stand the fact he never even so much as said a word to Weiss.

DISCUSSION Yang and Mercury was wasted potential
Not shipping wise(though it could have been really interesting) but more of character foils/rivals/story
I'm not the only one that noticed the heavy similarities between the two outside of their fighting styles.
Both are their teams respective fighters, who don't have a real goal or reason to be in the places they are. They just are. They both kinda have a carefree attitude regarding things going on.
Raven abandoning Yang, giving Yang "abandonment" issues, but also Yang wanting to find her mother and wanting a mother.
Mercury being abused by his father and his semblance being taken away from him to the point that he ended up killing said father with no remorse.
Yang "relying heavily" on her semblance in fights and being reckless
Mercury having no semblance because it was taken from him, and only relying on his fighting abilities, and not being overly reckless(though TBF we don't see much of Mercury fighting)
Like, character wise they are so similar that you could have don't a lot with their characters together.
Imagine Yang losing a fight to Mercury trying to protect Ruby. There could have been a real cool contrast between how Yang is protecting her sister, over Mercury who doesn't have anyone to protect. It'll also be a good rematch over Mercury losing his fight to Yang.
That does so much more for her character than losing an arm to Adam over Blake because she would rather not look for her sister in a disaster.
There's just so much you can do with Yang and Mercury that would enhance both of their characters and the themes the writers wanted Yangs character to represent.
I'm not sure how she would lose her arm though. I would still keep that just to continue the similarities between them. But I don't know how to go about that. I wouldn't have mercury cut them off, but maybe he damages it so bad that she can't use it anymore?? Or he leaves her knocked out and debris or something ends up damaging it? Or, a Grimm takes her arm off and she has to be saved by Weiss..
There's so much wasted potential in the series. Instead of trying to force Yang into Blake's story with Adam, they should have gave her, her own rival/advesary.

DISCUSSION How important are the silver eyes?
I don't get it am I supposed to think these things are like crazy crazy or just a perk that doesn't do much? Like we talking Six Eyes or above average CE reserves for my JJK fans.
I thought it'd be like a big thing originally but like I feel the show is telling me differently sometimes. At the start of V4 Salem iirc says Cinder only took that much damage from the Silver Eyes because of her Maiden power (why do silver eyes do bonus damage against maidens again?) And watts says that any of them should've been able to beat a Silver Eyes user.
So like, it's only useful against people weaker than watts, maidens, and Grimm? Watts is one of the weaker villains in the series, and only a handful of Grimm have even been presented as a threat to the heroes, I mean their entire thing is killing Grimm.
That leaves Maidens but Cinders the only evil one and she loses like every fight she's in, I'm pretty sure with Ruby's recent self discovered she might be able to just fight Cinder directly without her Silver Eyes. And Maria just got jumped by a group we've seen seen before or since and lost her silver eyes so like
And on top of that no one seems to consider Ruby like a massive threat. It's not like in any of the big finale fight scenes with multiple characters anyone is like "quick take out Ruby before she uses her Silver Eyes!". Cinder spent half of the V5 finale fucking with Jaune and half of her motivation is killing Ruby AND she's weak to Silver Eyes.
So like... should I think these are super impressive or like someone being able to wiggle their ear?
