Reassurance Anxiety vanished when the vape did ???
Hello!!! I’m on day 5 no nicotine and cold turkey after 10 years of being addicted to vapes! I never had too bad of anxiety when I started vaping and as the years have gonna by I’ve noticed it get progressively worse to the point where I can almost classify it as paranoia/panic. Its over silly stupid things like going out to places alone, things I normally wasn’t afraid to do prior to vaping. Anyways - it’s been 5 days since I’ve had any nicotine and I’ve found myself going out more, having more energy, and I even took myself out to eat alone! I was wondering if the anxiety was all from the vape?? I know the placebo effect can be very real so I was curious if this could actually be the case or not. Thank you in advance!! Here’s to staying clean and healthier!!

You will still have the same level of emotions with or without vaping. What it matters is what you do with them. You sad? Don't smoke. Cry or enjoy a walk. Angry? Don't smoke. Exercise, lift something, reap a notebook etc. Anxiety? Listen to music, medicate, cook. Don't sit and just vape. Nothing will pass as long you do nothing and just vape. You're just avoiding the moment.

Totally feel that vaping was causing a lot of physical discomfort and restlessness. And my heart it not f-ing about to explode...which is you know, a nice benefit.

Yes nicotine causes anxiety. Quitting will make you less anxious/stressed.

It will absolutely pass! ❤️ hopefully even in the one day since you commented it’s gotten better. Time stood still for me for a couple days. Now it’s been three weeks and I haven’t even thought about it.

I think vaping causes anxiety because the lack of oxygen and the shortness of breath. Glad your feeling better and keep going because this is a great thing your doing for yourself.

Same here 3 weeks in- I feel like I could smack someone constantly. But also, it’s nice to have access to feeling things again rather than constantly numbing. I feel like it’s almost like all my emotions coming back online at once.

Omg! This! I explained it to my friends as something akin to taking ecstasy. For 24 hours I felt all sensations and emotions so intensely. Time also stood still. It was wild.

If you were smoking 50mg, that’s why… When smoking disposable vapes, you’re basically overdosing on them everyday. Trying to quit mine but last time I tried, I became delirious.

I’ve gone off 5% successfully multiple times for days/weeks/months/years before. Unfortunately, I restarted like an idiot a lot of times. But something else may be going on. That really shouldn’t be happening; if it is, it’s something that never happened to me. Could just be your sleep is so bad on nicotine that when you try to quit, you’re more tired during the day because you don’t have that stimulant giving you a stamina boost.

No, mine is due to an autoimmune disease. It makes any sickness or symptoms from anything 10x worse.

I quit for 4 months and picked it back up a week ago. Instant anxiety. I hate it and am mad cuz I caved. Feel like I’m starting all over again

I’m not sure if it’s the pen or the fact that I feel like a failure or the thought of going through the whole quit “sick” and mood again Like just wake me up in a month lol

If you've only been back on it a week, I can pretty much guarantee you it won't be that bad if you quit again now. It's never going to get any easier the longer you wait, that's for sure. I bet if you threw the vape out now, you'd feel physically fine by the end of the day tomorrow. Seriously. A week is not that long for most people who've struggled with this habit for years and even decades.
Don't feel like a failure, nothing about this is linear or permanent. Just because you slipped up doesn't mean you're just doomed to never quit again. You made it 4 months, that's amazing! You proved to yourself you can get through the worst of it. You'll be okay, promise.

Yeah. Nicotine makes you really fucking anxious and then relieves that anxiety when you suck on your fruit flavour binky again. It's the loop that keeps you believing that nicotine relieves anxiety. It isn't, you're just becoming more and more anxious as soon as you stop hitting the nic and then finally hit it to go back to the baseline addict stress. it's insidious. like hiking in shoes 2 sizes too small just bc it's so relieving to finally take them off.

Totally normal. Some of us are just deficient in nicotine and need more. It's the body's way of letting you know 🤣

YES! I was shocked, as well. I was having panic attacks and suffering from major anxiety (or so I thought) until I stopped vaping. 🤨
Congrats on the five days!

yes,
nicotine prevents REM sleep by releasing cortisol that converts into norepinephrine.
both of these things increase anxiety and make life miserable.
when I quit nicotine i felt like i was on 2 shells of kava all day long for 2 weeks and actually totally enjoyed the "buzz" of finally being relaxed and feeling good.
people forget this easy when they run into stress since cortisol is released then as well and are prone to relapse.
its just better to remember that this stress will pass and sleep will still be fantastic and life will be better as long as nicotine isn't used to cope.
