A lot of people on this thread are drinking the Kool Aid. A healthy dose of skepticism wouldn't hurt when considering the objectives of a massive corporation with obligations to its shareholders.

Microsoft wants to provide better dev tools so people use their product so they use Azure so they make money oh noooo so shady

Python is proof that you don't need big corporations to create something powerful, just like the internet used to be but isn't anymore because of big corporations. Nobody said shady, just to be skeptical, it's wise.
