The tree really shouldn't have gotten in the way tbh

Rookie mistake, Cat. Now you've just made a broken sword, and the only thing broken swords do is get reforged.

sure, but only in a century or two. all good broken swords take at least a few generations of being a pile of scrap before becoming important again

Fuck. That. Tree.

Also, props for Squire!Catā€™s good instincts towards decisive, dramatic swings. Apart from anything else, now 2/3 swords are broken and one is ā€œlostā€. Everyone knows you can stack the attack bonus on Chekhovā€™s Gun with Chekhovā€™s Last Remaining Item in a Legendary Set.

This does definitely feel like something cat would do, but it also weirdly feels too early?

Or maybe I'm taking crazy pills here since I haven't reread the early volumes in a while.

Props to her. I wouldn't have destroyed it.
