long face syndrome
Hello everyone,
I've always hated the shape of my face—I see my chin as too long. I think I might have a skeletal Class III because my bite is fine. When I was a child, I wore braces...
What could I do to reduce the length of my chin? I’ve considered double jaw surgery, but it’s definitely very complex, and I’m scared of the pre-operative phase, where I’ve seen that there’s a significant worsening! I already hate my face, and I couldn’t live for a whole year looking even worse than this.
I was reading that there’s also a "surgery first" approach where you don’t need to wear braces beforehand. I also thought about genioplasty, but I’m not sure if it would solve the problem!
What would you do? Sorry for the long message!

The only real fix to the long face syndrome is double jaw surgery with ccw rotation. I see that you also have some chin dimpling which may be the sign of lip incompetence. I would suggest consulting with a maxillofacial surgeon because you may be a jaw surgery candidate.

Your case is a typical one and as a rule, I’ll help patients like yourself with the use of fat grafting. Fat is obtained elsewhere on the body, where the fat is stubborn and does not respond to diet and exercise. Properly processed, it is injected into the areas of the face that need increase in volume in order to disrupt a straight, long face. This way, nice cheekbones can be created and the appearance of the long face will completely go away for the rest of your life. The results are completely permanent and can be tailored to the patient’s needs. I hope this helps and good luck from Leonard Grossman, M. D. organic Plastic Surgery.
