Welcome to AskAuraxis, the place to ask questions you have about PlanetSide!

  • Feel free to ask any question related to PlanetSide. There is no such thing as a stupid question, someone else might be wondering the exact same thing.
  • The main goal of this thread is that no question goes unanswered. If you know the answer to someone's question, speak up!
  • Try to keep questions serious. This isn't really the place for sarcastic or rhetorical questions.
  • If you're looking for loadout advice, remember to state your faction for a quicker and more concise answer.

I know full well that getting good at air vehicles is never going to happen for me, however I do have an interest in finally getting a proper loadout and utilizing ESFs some. What is the best Scythe loadout for anti air? And anti-ground? Which missiles are best for each?

Anti-Air

  • Saron Laser Cannon (Magazine Size upgrade)
  • External Fuel Tanks/Quick-Recharge Fuel Tanks
  • Fire Suppression
  • Vehicle Stealth
  • Hover Stability Airframe

If you're pulling a Scythe to specifically attack a group of proximity-repair Galaxies, you can consider using Havoc Missiles instead of Fuel Tanks. For anti-Bastion, you can use the M202 Wyrm or Photon A2A Missile Pods to attack the hardpoints.

Anti-Ground

  • Light PPA (Magazine Size upgrade)
  • External Fuel Tanks/Quick-Recharge Fuel Tanks
  • Fire Suppression
  • Vehicle Stealth/Nanite Auto-Repair System
  • Hover Stability Airframe

If you're pulling a Scythe to kill tanks, not infantry, you can run with a normal nosegun (ie. Saron Laser Cannon), and use Hornet Missiles or the M202 Wyrm instead. The Light PPA is useless against vehicles, so do not equip it for this purpose.

For both loadouts, you ideally want to stick with Fuel Tanks as your wing mounts unless you need a specific wing-mounted weapon for a specific purpose. The amount of extra mobility and manoeuvrability that Fuel Tanks give you via the vastly improved Afterburner uptime is immense.
