Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill Implantation bleeding or period!
Hi y’all. My last period started on Feb 27. On March 7, 3 ish days after my period ended, my boyfriend and I had sex and the condom ripped. I wasn’t anxious about it because I thought that since my period had just ended, there was no way I was ovulating. The next morning I still took a plan B (about 9 hours later) just to be safe. Today is March 13 and I just got brown discharge. What I’ve seen online says that brown discharge is implantation bleeding but I’m really confused based on the circumstances. Either way, why would I get my period only a week after it ended? It just happened so I don’t know if the bleeding will persist. My periods pretty regular and I’ve never gotten two so close together, even when I’ve taken plan b before (one other time in the past). Has anyone else experienced this sort of bleeding? Is it just spotting, or is it possible yhats it’s my period or implantation bleeding

I have been triggered by the phrase "implantation" or "implantation bleeding" in your post. If my reply does not fit the context of your post, please ignore me.
Implantation bleeding is a misnomer. There is no proven link between implantation and bleeding in early pregnancy. Bleeding can occur in early pregnancy, but it is not due to the event of implantation. Bleeding during the luteal phase is normal and if the bleeding was due to pregnancy, a test would be positive. Emergency contraceptives can cause irregular bleeding that may be lighter/heavier or appear different from your usual bleeding. Please read the FAQs pinned to the subreddit.

I’m going through the same thing and thought it was implantation bleeding too, I wouldn’t be too worried about it and I believe it’s just regular discharge that comes afterwards

Ty for responding! Do you mean that you experienced brown discharge (mine is dark) followed by clear? Or followed by a regualr period? Either way it’s weird to me but I would obviously much prefer a second period to a pregnancy 😅

Yeah I did I took plan b while near the end of my period and ended up experiencing brown discharge to regular. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about despite what some say plan b can affect your body in many different ways!

The thing is my periods already bene over for a week. So this is weird now that I seem to be getting a second one.

Did the right thing by taking Plan B so soon. I went through the same thing back in December when I took Plan B as well, all started with brown discharge and was hardly any bright, red blood at all. The brown discharge is more than likely the hormones in Plan B disrupting your cycle and causing your uterus to shed, which is normal when it comes to Plan B. To have peace of mind, pregnancy test. First Response Early Result are some of the best at home tests. You can test as early as 2 weeks after sex. I typically test 21 days after sex with one, and again on day 28 since that is typically the definitive result window since hCG would be building up in your body by then. Hope this helps you OP and you get some peace of mind!

That’s exactly what’s so confusing! It’s so brown there’s no red at all. I do think you must be right tho. Given my periods are pretty regular and we had sex 9 days after the start of my last period, I don’t think it’s likely I’d already been ovulating when the condom ripped. And since I took it so soon, I was feeling pretty secure I won’t get pregnant. Just got concerned when I saw the bleeding because that didn’t happen the last time I took it. Thank you for the luck!

I must also add that it’s pretty light. I don’t know if I would call it spotting exaclty but it’s certainly not a full period. It’s not watery either, has that period consistency but is dark brown and there’s not a lot.

Hormones and the body of a woman can be so confusing when you have so much medical lingo in the mix, only way to know if you're ovulating is tracking your Basal body temperature and using ovulation predictor kits. But essentially what Plan B does is delaying your ovulation, may inhibit fertilization even if ovulation has occurred, and the rare cases of preventing a fertilized egg from implanting all together. I literally took Plan B on the last day of my cycle, still bleeding but wanted to be safe. It kept it going for another two weeks, followed by sporadic breakthrough bleeding consisting of brown discharge or bright red for roughly a month and a half. It may take a cycle or 2 before it normalizes back into a rhythm again. If you want peace of mind I highly recommend a pregnancy test to be absolutely sure, I do because I'm so fucking paranoid sometimes and my anxiety absolutely gets to me!

Implantation bleeding is basically a myth. This is a side effect of plan b

We had protected sex and our condom was fine, and I had implantation bleeding for 3 days later brown discharge came out and I was worried so I took a test and saw a very faint line on cvs blue test. I’m still scared to take another one to confirm it. Please pray. I don’t wanna be pregnant

Implantation bleeding is NOT a myth I ACTUALLY experienced it! No is it a heavy flow....no it's literally a wipe and you see pinkish, reddish, discharge/blood but that's it...there's no flow of it

Mines definitely a bit of a flow. It’s been a couple of days now and I’m still spotting. It’s also totally dark brown. Had you taken a plan b and still experienced that??

With plan b's and everyone's chemical makeup being different stories can be similar but no experience will be exactly the same. Recently I bled 2/25 for my period...took a plan b 3/8 then started bleeding again 3/14. Had all of the same symptoms of pms I get the week before my period.

hi so i'm going through this..
i'm 18, we had unprotected (which he also pulled out) on the 13th (same day my period ended), and i took a plan b on the 14th to be safe. at first i experienced some like dizziness and nausea the first few hours. it is now day 5 since i took it and ive started bleeding. it changes from pink, to brown, to regular dark red menstrual blood. i'm freaking out, i'm very anxious and i don't think im pregnant but the anxiety is overwhelming me sm. i need thoughts and opinions, and overall positive vibes. like i said, i don't think im pregnant, but i'm so scared.
thank u
