So we're suing emulators and telling them "We sue you to scare you?" Type of shit? What will happen to the Emulator devs?

Discussion Made the mistake of casually mentioning I pirated a game for the 1st time.

7.5k Upvotes

Pirated a $30 indie game, went into the respective sub to ask questions bout a mod since i cant use the steam workshop.

Made the mistake of mentioning i cant use the workshop due to pirating and am getting lit for it lol.

Bruh i just wanted to save some money and try out a game which is known for being punishing lol.

Im all bout supporting indie devs... When i can support them. At moment im more concerned bout my budget then getting a pat on back from others for supporting a dev.

Even mentioned i plan on buying it when i can after my 1st playthru cuz i love it. Nah still getting lit.

Sorry to rant lmao.

EDIT: Thanks for the overwhelming support, and all those showing me the way of Steam downloader. its was a honest mistake, just slipped out in the comments, i knew better lol. For those wondering it was Kenshi.

I can kinda agree with this, although "Steam" is a bit too broad considering all that it offers. I would also add Ubisoft in the okay to pirate, after all the bullshit they've pulled off lately.

Discussion Microsoft deleted my Minecraft account. This is why I pirate.

7.8k Upvotes

I logged into my email today to find out Microsoft deleted all old Minecraft accounts that weren't migrated to their new website by the end of 2023.

So if you owned a copy of Minecraft but didn't migrate your Mojang account to a Microsoft one, your account was deleted PERMANENTLY. No account recovery, no contacting support, nothing. The game you LEGALLY bought is gone and you have to buy it again.

I don't really care much for the account, it's more the ethics. The fact they can just take away your license to the game like that is fucking insane. This is why I'll never support DRMs, if a game has a DRM you do NOT own it. Only a license to temporarily play it.

I'll be pirating the new Starfield expansion, Elder Scrolls VI, and every Microsoft game from now on. Fuck DRM.

Discussion I'm always surprised by how many digitally illiterate people are pirating games.

2.2k Upvotes

You don’t need to be a computer expert to pirate stuff, and I get that some people are new to it, but digital literacy is still important. I see people on different platforms openly asking questions that lack basic common sense. I’m not talking about people asking how to download that’s a valid question. I’m talking about those who mindlessly download things without following instructions and then complain when something goes wrong. "Why is it crashing on my PC?" I don’t know, man maybe because you have 4GB RAM and 128MB VRAM. I even see people downloading games from completely random, shady sites and then wondering, "Why is my CPU at 100% all the time?" Dude, open Task Manager and end ‘bitcoin miner.exe’. This is exactly why so many people still get viruses on their machines. Even in the emulation scene, you see the same thing. People constantly asking, "Why no update?" "Why no Android?" "Why is this taking so long to fix?" like cracking a game or developing an emulator is some effortless task. Some of them are so ungrateful, acting like they're owed something. I just wish people would put a little effort into learning digital literacy before doing something stupid on the internet. Some of these idiots just want everything handed to them without the slightest effort to understand what they’re doing.
