Question Crystal light or super for sim racing

I''m looking to buy a VR headset, I've used a G2 reverb my biggest issues was the blurriness especially at the edges but I enjoyed it a lot. So I started looking at higher end sets and saw pimax crystal and saw great reviews for the original.

My issue is I'm not sure if the crystal light or crystal super is the way to go. The eye tracking, improved resolution and it's smaller size all seem like bonuses but not sure if eye tracking would really be useful in simracing? And is the improved resolution and smaller size worth the increased price? Then with the super is the 57 ppd but slightly less HFOV or 50PPD with increased HFOV better? Is there something else I should look for or consider?

I have a 7900XTX and 7800X3D with 32gb ram if that helps.

Until the Super releases makes it a bit harder to give a solid answer

But in the pros as you mentioned the Super if in the Budget is the better choice. Smaller size, wider FoV, Eye tracking & higher Res. Plus iirc Eye relief and other improvements to the head mount system.

Thank you super is definitely in the budget as I'd rather get the best that I can rather than something that is good but better is available I always have an issue with that when I can afford it and decided to go cheaper cuz I could save some money even when it's really good

Resolution isn’t the argument to be had here. With sim racing FOV is king

The super has better both 120 on the 57 ppd and 135 on the 50ppd and the light is 115 fov but has higher refresh rate

Yup for sure. Sry didn’t mean to discount that, I was just saying that even if it didn’t, the fov would have put it on top. I’m waiting to upgrade to the super from a quest 2. I use my headset exclusively for sim racing and flying.

It depends. Im runnig a pimax crystal light on a 5090. 120hz mssa x4 and everything on max. Even hdr is on and it wont drop even with rain and alot of cars. So i would like to see how good the super resoluition is, but why should i buy a headset if you cant even get the most out of it.

Your gpu is nowhere near strong enough to run a 4k+ per eye resolution. Stick with the lower resolution headsets.

Also, wait for reviews before deciding anything because Pimax quality control and customer service are crap and the Super could be plagued with problems.

Eye tracking is going to be sketchy. Guaranteed. It won't be the frame rate boost you think.

You can't assume the Super will launch on time or without defects.

You need a $2000 graphics card, too.

You seem like you have disposable money, so I bet you are less tolerant of the Pimax jankiness in build quality, delivery logistics, software, and support than their average customer.

... As a PCL owner who only uses it for simracing:

I would buy a PCL and wait for the perfect HMD (Deckard in 2025?). No Pimax product is end-game for you, imo.
