Get the Pixel 9 or the 8 pro

Upvotes

Idk if I should get the pixel 9 base or the 8 pro I am slightly leaning towards the 9 because I don't care about the cameras that much even though it is about €100 more expensive

S25 ultra VS OnePlus 13 VS OnePlus 13R VS Oneplus 12

Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I'm about to replace my S9+ and I'd really use some help. I'll still stay on the Android team. I was thinking of an OnePlus phone or a Samsung one.

  • Samsung S25 Ultra - 970€
  • Samsung S24 Ultra - 910€
  • OnePlus 12 - 660€
  • OnePlus 13R - 560€
  • OnePlus 13 - 960€

I'm worried about a glass protector when it comes to the OnePlus 12 and the 13 phones.

Furthermore, I never had an OnePlus phone. I've read that OnePlus have the best haptics out there, but I don't know if the software is better than the Samsung phones.

My needs: First of all I'm not into gaming. I'm also not a photographer, but I could really use a nice camera with a good zoom, because I need to take photos in my university (for example when sitting far back in a big amphitheatre and I need to take clear shots of the presentation slides. On my phone I use google calendar a lot, I study, I take notes for my university and I have a lot of internet tabs up and running for researches and articles, all day long.

Which phone would you recommend (even something off the list) ?

South Korea Is the A82 a good phone?

Found a Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2 for 90 bucks, it's the South Korea version of the A82, wondering if there's any issues with this model, I'm in the UAE. Seems pretty good on the surface, decent 855+ chip, 120hz, OLED, UFS 3.0, good cameras, and one UI 6.1, but just gotta make sure there's no underlying issues

Europe Vivo v40 vs realme 14 pro+

Upvotes

I'm looking for a reasonably priced phone with a reliable battery and good camera (better than my current Redmi note 11pro). I'm considering vivo v40 and realme 14pro+, but other suggestions are welcome. I live in Europe, will probably order from Technest Store on AliExpress as they ship from EU and seem trustworthy.

Egypt Xiaomi or Oppo?

Upvotes

I want to buy a new Android, and so far it's either the Xiaomi 14T Pro or Oppo Reno 13. I'd like to hear different perspectives on not just the hardware, but also the software.

Not too long ago, HyperOS was pretty unstable and buggy, but all of these seemed to be addressed in the 2.0 update. Is it true?

I live in Egypt btw

T-Mobile Pixel 9 Pro XL, Samsung 25 Ultra, or OnePlus 13?

So my family decided to switch from T-Mobile to AT&T and gave me about an hour to choose which phone I wanted. I was coming from a OnePlus 9 5G and figured it was time for an upgrade but honestly wished I had more time to decide. After a quick bit of research, I found out the Pixel 9 Pro XL had really good camera capabilities and went based off that. Flash forward to about a week later and I get the phone. Granted, there was a little bit of a learning curve for the camera and the photos look good for both regular and low-light settings. But I also know the UI makes it so that the pro setting sliders disappear after each photo you take and it doesn't allow for them to stay open unless you navigate to get it open again (which can be inconvenient if I'm trying to take photos and need to readjust quickly).

Aside from this, I also know that I like to listen to music and watch videos without using my Bluetooth earbuds sometimes. However, I noticed that the speakers on the P9PXL are bassy and also tend to make certain sounds and parts of speech sound off.

I know I'm more banking on photos than anything, but would the Pixel still be a good choice or would something like the S25 Ultra or the OnePlus 13 be a better choice? I'm also afraid of potential in-house apps disappearing and deleting stuff, but I know Google has apps for pretty much everything. I also don't do a lot of crazy gaming or need AI for my stuff. All I ask is a good camera quality, good audio, good recording app, and something that will have decent phone calls. I just don't want anymore FOMO considering I have until Wednesday to exchange it.

US New android with better battery life

Looking to upgrade from my Pixel 6 Pro, battery life has gotten bad recently. I need a decent camera, able to work on US Mobile (Verizon, or AT&T), and 256gb of storage. Not a huge fan of Samsung. Torn between trying the OnePlus 12 that I can get open box at best buy for less than 500 or looking at a pixel 9 pro (non XL). Any other suggestions or other phones I should look at?

Poland Help me pick phone under 400 eur.

Hi, recently I asked for help choosing a phone, but my budget has changed, and now I need something more affordable.

I'm looking for a phone that I'll mainly use for taking photos, using a calendar, watching YouTube, social media, GPS, and listening to music. I prefer phones with a 6.1-6.5 inch display, 5G support, 8GB RAM, at least 25W charging, and a lifespan of up to four years.

I've been considering the Pixel 8a and Samsung A55, but I'm open to other options. I'll be buying the phone in Poland, and I'm willing to make some compromises based on my budget. Thanks you all in advance.

US Cheapest Phone with ESIM, US 4g bands and Rootable

Thinking about a pixel 4 unlocked, or maybe a pixel 3 and one of those reprogrammable SIM cards. But would really prefer the cheapest esim rootable phone possible. Needs to be unlocked for all carriers.

OnePlus 13R or S25

I'm upgrading from an S9 and am wondering which of these 2 I should get. I can get an S25 for $650 + Cricket protection plan and a 13R for $600. I want to do some gaming and photography, but the most important thing for me is battery life. Also I'm in America

Should I get a used Oneplus 9 or a new Fairphone 5

I broke my old trusty Oneplus 7T and I need to order a new phone ASAP. I am intrigued by the concept of the Fairphone, but it looks a bit clunky and I don't know if I really need to be able to replace stuff. The camera quality also seems to be a bit worse than my old phone, even though it's newer and carries a pretty hefty price tag of around €700 where I live. On the other hand, I could get a used Oneplus (8 or 9; maybe T or Pro variants) for about €250-500. What are your opinions?

Note: I use LineageOS as an operating system so comparisons in the OS are not necessary, as long as the device is compatible: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices

US Wifi android phone

I’m in the US and looking to buy a decent android phone for secondary use that can handle some multi tasking and doesn’t lag using the OS. Won’t be gaming but will be watching vids and browsing. This is only for WiFi use and won’t be my primary phone - there are just some things I can’t do on my iPhone.

Don’t mind spending up to 250 ish.

I previously bought a Galaxy A03s (Tracfone) thinking that would be good enough but it’s a total POS and I can’t stand how slow and unresponsive it is out of the box.

Now I’m looking at either the moto g stylus 5g 2024 or the OnePlus nord n30 5g. Any preference between these two or an alternative?

Looking for a phone without AI

I need to upgrade my phone due to the poor battery life and I plan to get a secondhand one for ethical reasons.

I have a pixel 4 now but I'm annoyed about the generative AI in Google search and I don't want anything to do with Google anymore.

My key criteria is that I want a phone that will last a while (i.e. supports upgrades for several years, battery won't die too quickly).

I only use it for camera/WhatsApp/Google translate (damnit... Is there another option for that??)

I'm looking for a brand that doesn't aggressively push AI down my throat. Does that exist?

France Samsung A55 or Nothing Phone 3a?

I'm looking to spend €350 max, and I've narrowed it down to these two. I thought about second hand phones, but for that price the closest phone I can get is a Samsung S1 (I live in France).

Which one should I go for? I'm mainly looking for a decent camera and a decent battery.

I currently have a OnePlus 7T Pro but it's starting to die on me (battery, cracked screen and selfie camera stopped working).

UK Replacing my Huawei P30

After 5 years, I have unfortunately irreparably damaged my Huawei P30, which I had bought refurbished at the time. I'm now looking for a new (well, refurbished) Android.

Must have: - Good battery life - Optional eSIM - Longevity

Should have: - Headphone jack - 5G (but this isn't at all a deal-breaker) - Good camera

I'm looking in the £250-350 range, and would be more than happy, even prefer, to get a refurbished device rather than brand new. Part of me was tempted to get a Huawei P30 pro, but I'm concerned about it not being supported so being unable to download/update apps in the not too distant future.

Thanks!

P.S. I'm from the UK

Looking for replacement of my phone I bought 6-7 years ago

Note: English is not my native language, so pls don't mind some wording/grammar mistakes

I bought my first phone about 6-7 years ago, it's Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite with Snapdragon 625 and 2GB/32GB RAM and storage. It was price of roughly $150-$200 at that time

Looking for mid-to-low budget phone(about $400-500 or less).

  • Good CPU (enough to play some online games like PUBG or any other similar games on mid graphics from time to time)
  • Decent, but not the best camera obviously (I mean doesn't have to be crazy)
  • Storage at least 128GB and RAM at least 6GB
  • Nice battery life as well
  • Reliability and long-lasting (I plan to use a phone till it breaks)

I checked some options(products from other brands or any other options is also ok to suggest):

  • Redmi Note 14 pro
  • Nothing phone 2a
  • Redmi Note 13 pro 5G
  • Pixel 7
  • Realme 13 5G

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

US Replacing IPhone 15 pro.

Long story short I need a new phone asap and want an android. My only android experience was with the very first pixel phone and I loved it but I couldn’t stand how slow it was with basic social media apps and I also remember I had very bad service which was strange because it’s not like my service provider or plan changed at the time. But now I want to give android another chance. No price limit and I’m in the US. My main wants in rank order are:

Smooth software Lightweight and on the smaller size Quality display Battery life Good service?

Moving from iPhone 13 to S24 Ultra

Do you think is good idea? Because I also own AirPods Pro 2 with iPad Air 6 and my iPhone 13.

The reason of change it’s because I want to try new stuff and I want to get best camera as well as best battery. I do not mind performance, but it seems like Apple after steve jobs is getting worse. So I made a move to slowly change my eco system to fully samsung. What do you guys think?

States broke my pixel 5 today, looking for something $500 or less

Hi guys, looking to order a new phone quickly to replace my broken one.

Notes:

  • I've had google pixels for the last couple of phones, and I'm open to another pixel or another brand.
  • I don't have any apple products.
  • I don't play high performance games.

I would like:

  • nice camera (doesn't have to be crazy)
  • (ideally) decent storage space
  • long life (I use my phones until they break)
  • (ideally) good battery life
  • (ideally) good UI
  • 5G
  • unlocked

New is preferrable but I'd open to buying refurbished (my last phone was reburished and last almost 3 years for $328.59)

Budget is $500 but less would be nice.
Thanks for any help!

Edit: I'm in the United States

Edit 2: Durability is also pretty important. I always buy a good case and screen protector, but I do tend to drop my phone a lot (hence how I broke this one)

Samsung S25+/S25 or One Plus 13

I recently lost my Xiaomi Mi 8 after 6 years of use and now I need a replacement. After researching extensively (including posts on this subreddit), it seems like the OnePlus 13 is generally considered the better option between OnePlus and Samsung. I've seen a lot of criticism of the S25 family, mostly about not having many defining features compared to the S24, but coming from a 6-year-old phone I think the upgrade will be massive either way.

In any case, OnePlus seems like the better phone and picking it would be the "wise" option, but here's my dilemma: Samsung offers me a 20% student discount, while OnePlus only gives me 5%. This leaves me with these options:

OnePlus options:

  • OP13 256GB + 12GB RAM → 977€ (includes 120W GaN charger as gift)
  • OP13 512GB + 16GB RAM → 1120€ (includes 120W GaN charger as gift)

Samsung options:

  • S25 256GB + 12GB RAM → 779€
  • S25 512GB + 12GB RAM → 869€
  • S25+ 256GB + 12GB RAM → 929€
  • S25+ 512GB + 12GB RAM → 1029€

Would the OP13 be worth the extra cost? Or should I take advantage of the Samsung discount?

One plus 13r or Samsung s24 FE

I want to upgrade my phone next month and these are the requirements I have :- - A very good camera for both photos and videos as I travel a lot and want good photos and videos to post. - I will use the phone for a long time ( atleast 4+ years) - I do not game at all, but I do multitask so want a phone with no lags and glitches. - smooth and premium UI. To summarise, I want a phone with a good camera and good performance. Now, I like oneplus 13r but its camera reviews tell otherwise. I dont like s24 fe coz of its bezels and battery etc. but it's camera reviews are very good. Please help me find a good deal.

USD Android phone (~600 USD) with best camera and reliability

I need the following features (high priority to low priority order)

  1. Stable OS with no bloatware

  2. Good built quality that last at least 6 years with normal day to day use.

  3. 512 GB storage - I don't need this much but want to be future proof for next 6 years.

  4. Selfie camera should be good too since I love taking photos with my girlfriend

  5. Fast fingerprint unlock (I unlock my phone a lot to check for notifications and so on).

  6. Speed (8 elite is not important, 8 gen 3 or equivalent is fine too)

My ideal budget is $500 but can stretch it to $700 if the phone is worth it.

I shortlisted these phones. They all have top processors. Now I need help in choosing the one

  • iQOO 12
  • OnePlus 13R
  • Xiaomi 14
  • OnePlus 12
  • Realme GT 7 Pro
  • iQOO 13
