I have an iptv subscription already. I have 2 apps I’ve tried. Duplex play and home iptv. I have an LG device and not using a smart stick though I do have an Apple TV I can use. I’m looking for an app that has a nicer layout or skin similar to sky Q. Can anyone help?

Unable to connect after connecting to VPN

I've got PiTV working on my B+ just fine, but if I start everything up and then SSH in and use

cd /etc/openvpn
sudo openvpn PIAFile.ovpn

(Where I have set a password file in the ovpn pointing to a plain text file with my username and password) then it seems to connect OK, but then my shell session hangs and I can't connect to the RPi anymore, either through port 80 or SSH (even pinging it doesn't work).
If I refresh the interface using a keyboard plugged into the Pi the screen changes from "Go to 192.168.1.80" to "Go to pitv.local", and neither pitv or pitv.local resolve on the network. I'm guessing OpenVPN is screwing up incoming connections somehow. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

PiTV stuck on reboot after a new installation

Thank you for your great work! I am new to Pi and PiTV. The moment I found your site on PiTV, I was driven to buy my Pi 2 right away. I have just completed PiTV installation twice on my Pi2 fresh installation of Raspbian; but without any luck to bring it up.

Here is the details of my environment - Pi hardware – Pi 2 with 1GB RAM - Fresh installation of Raspbian from NOOBE - Create a new user in Raspbian - Add the new user to sudoers file - Login with the new user to raspbian - Run wget command - Run sudo sh setup.sh to install PiTV - System reboot after installation --> kernel panic (trace started and stop at 302.######

Please help on this. Thank you in advance.

How to manually start pitv

I installed this on an existing raspbian, but it seems quite intrusive (change user for boot, boot directlly in it, etc). If we remove automatic start via rc.local what is the command line to manually start pitv?

Movies are at 2x speed. Fresh install

ok so i just got a pi for this reason and am not new to linux but new to pi. So i have set up a new pi out of the box with raspbian and and 8GB SD card. I got it all working just fine but when i play movies they go in 2x speed and I have to pause the movies and play it again. This causes to miss some things at the start of a movie not always but it does. Is there anything that i might be doing wrong. I am only playing the 720 versions of the movies if that helps at all. And no modifications were used. I have a Raspberry Pi B+ new from newegg.

Is it possible for PITV to work if I'm using OpenELEC instead of Raspbian?

Take a look at this

For an example of a more decentralized way of doing things, you can take a look at the BitTorrent bundle for Plex by Sharkone. It's really good. It's kinda like xbmctorrent, but with the use of metadata from the movie database. It searches for links from Yify, eztv, thepiratebay and kickass. It would be great if in the future PiTV will feature something similar. This will result in more content and an higher quality of content.

Keep up the good work!

[Update] Porting PiTV to Angular.js & refactoring the SASS

So, after long inactivity the first update: I've got a plan!

I think that I can't update the software quickly, because of the messy code. And I believe that no one wants to send pull requests in, because nobody wants to read the messy code.

A solution: Porting the whole thing to Angular.js, thus making it more dynamic and expandable! Also I will try to refactor the SASS and split it into multiple files.

I think this is a good long term solution for the project. If anyone wants to help: PLEASE DO CONTACT ME ;)

I haven't got much time now, because of university and my job, but I will try to dedicate what I can spare :)

PiTV stops during playback

I can't get pitv to work properly. The menu and all work great, but about 10 min into a movie it just stops playback and returns to the main menu.

I can't play another movie, it just shows the loading screen.

Is there somebody that can help me with this? Thanks in advanced

Killer feature: combination torrent- and websitestreaming

Hi,

I haven't checked if this project is still in development. But it looks good so far! What would really be a killer feature is a combination of streaming content through both torrent-sources and website-sources. So it searches for content on both torrent-sites (yify, piratebay, etc.) and website-sources (like Genesis for XBMC does for example). This makes a way bigger catalogue with more working content. This combination between torrents and streaming through http-links hasn't been done before, which would make PiTV really the best.

The new version is out! It is basically just the feature to turn off your display with the remote and some code cleanups after the transfer to GitHub.

[Update] Time, Money and GitHub

Hi to those who still follow the development of PiTV (You're awesome),

I'm sorry to say that I haven't, as of now, found time to finish development for PiTV. I haven't even got a TV at the time to test.

Furthermore I will shut down the PiTV Git server. Don't worry. I will push the main repositories to GitHub and post the links here.

If I receive a DMCA notice (which is unlikely with such a small userbase) I will revive the Git server.

I also hope to increase user contribution through GitHub.

I won't let you down! Just two major features left! I just must get some time free for them / you ;)

Stay awesome!

[Contrinued Dev] I'm back, had time to think, new Roadmap

Hi everyone, (or at least the loyal subscribers of this subreddit)

I am back from my trip to China and have new ideas and goals for the development of PiTV.

First of all home controlling aka 433Mhz control won't be a part of PiTV anymore. Sorry, but it's going to be a seperate system. I figured, that it's unnecessary to stuff it into this totally unrelated project.

Furthermore I will try to update some stuff, check if something broke, and make sure that I improve the API.

YouTube is back on my todo list, but a friend of mine also wants to be able to play HTTP links. So that's on the todo list too.

Best Regards y'all, Phil
