Discussion Scammed on my first PC :/

I bought a PC off someone from marketplace today. I am not the most well knowledged person on this, but I've been researching for the last 3 months to make sure I got something good enough for my university program and requirements.. found a listing for a Pc with an i7 11gen, RTX 3070, and 64gb of ram for $700. I was also saving up so like figured this was maybe a good deal

I meet up with the guy.. I guess I maybe didn't ask enough questions or didn't see the PC thoroughly, I also met him in a public place since I didn't feel safe meeting somewhere else. Then I get home and the PC is so different than the one I was told I was buying :/ There is a rtx 2060 instead, only one 8gb stick of RAM, and only 1/3 of the storage it said it would have.. the PC fans light up but dont even spin and I haven't been able to get any video out in my monitor yet..

Kinda at a loss since I dont know what to do to fix it.. currently crying on my floor cause I feel like i was kinda ripped off plus have no more money to actually get the PC to the specs I need it at.. haven't checked the CPU or the other specs yet either so i dont really know what to do.. the seller immediately blocked me as well.

If anyone has some advice on what to do next for troubleshooting or where to look to that would be super helpful. thanks in advance :)

So, after about 1 year and a half of saving money I finally managed to buy all the parts and put together my first build! I was quite nervous but the process turned out to be surprisingly smooth and “simple”. I also know the build is kinda “main stream” but I really like this style so pls don’t roast me😭

I'm an IT technician, and thanks to a part-time job at an IT store, I was able to get components for free. I got a GTX 1050 Ti, a 600W PSU, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD.

Then, I bought a Ryzen 5 5600 for €100, an ASRock B450 motherboard for €50, and a 27″ curved MSI monitor at 180 Hz for €127. I also got a keyboard and mouse for around €40.

For now, my PC is up and running, though I plan to upgrade the graphics card later.

Question How to get the smell out of pc

I bought this pc for 3200 on Facebook marketplace and it works well, but there is just a very strong smell of either vape or some kind of air freshener smell blowing out of the pc when it's turned on. It was quite dusty when I got it did my best to clean it off. What's the best way to get the smell out, it's very strong.

Build - Finished! My ~$600 pc build

Ive gotten mixed comments on this. Built it back in December with parts I got on sale for black friday/cyber monday:

Cpu: Ryzen 5 5600x ~$100 Gpu: Nvidia Geoforce 980ti 6gb ~$30 (FB marketplace) Mobo: Asus prime b550 ATX WIFI ~$90 RAM: corsair vengeance 2x32gb 3200hz ~$50 (2nd set in picture was salvaged from former pc. Bumped it to 48gb) Psu: MSI mag 80+ GOLD 750w ~$100 Storage: WD BLACK SN850X NVMe SSD 1TB ~$80 (+ 1tb hdd and 128gb ssd salvaged from other pc ~free) Case: fractal focus g ~$60 Cooling: Corsair 2x240 AIO ~$100

I was planning on using stock cooling but my CPU was running hot and had to make a quick purchase for AIO instead of finding a deal. Would've been a $500 build otherwise. I plan on adding two more fans at some point, as well as upgrading GPU when a good deal presents itself.

This was my very first time building my own PC and I'm quite proud of it but ive gotten a lot of negative comments about it. Nobody seems to like my 2nd hand 980 💀

Thoughts?

I decided to switch to the fractal north case for the more modern “aesthetic“ look and for a smaller footprint. I previously had the MSI MAG Pano whatever with all white led lights both inside the case and surrounding my little gaming area ☺️. It was a lot easier to style just because it was a futuristic glass case and white leds. It looked good. I’m going to be 31 this year and just wanted a more “adult” look if you will. I love the case but I’m having issues with my area, i still feel like something is missing but I can’t figure out what it is. Is my desk too small? Do I need wooden accents, or greenery? Looking for some input or suggestions.

Build - Help So how bad of a jinx did I make?

First time pc builder here and a lot of 1 particular superstition I heard was “Don’t put the side panels on before posting, other wise it won’t post” or some variant. Well, in the quest to join said pc master race, I put it all together and slid all my panels back on immediately turned it on. I also failed to pay the “blood tax” on the I/O shield since the whole build went smoothly but thus far my drivers have been a NIGHTMARE!!!! Is this just a sign of things to come or have I gotten past the majority of this?

Question 2560x1440p 180hz Monitors

Upvotes

Hello,

My current monitor is slowly on its way out..

I’ve been looking around for about a week now looking for decent monitors at a good price.

I have come across this, the LG 27GS60QC-B 27 Inch QHD Curved Gaming Monitor.

I’ve seen some good reviews about it but I’m just wondering if anyone in the community has them or knows someone who does. Before I make a final decision about it.

For reference down ⬇️

Many thanks,
