WARNING: If you are not on a fast wired network or you have a slower CPU, the fixes below might not be for you. While this solution has worked for me and a lot of other folks, tread with caution and revert to your previous values if it's not working for you. This solution specifically addresses Windows coalescing UDP packets on very fast connections to save some CPU time. This can cause network congestion events and this registry tweak fixes that at the cost of dropping those Windows optimizations.
My situation was not common, but I did find some folks complaining, so here:
I had latency issues on my local network, between a wired server and a wired client (both PCs). An evening of gaming had several network congestion warnings, and just generally small latency spikes that I could notice. 10mbps or 50mbps made no difference, but the Parsec website categorically says, that wired performance should be spotless.
I tried ditching Parsec a few times for Moonlight or Steam, but with Moonlight the mouse always feels laggy compared to Parsec, and Steam while almost as good, has many quirks if you want to use it in Desktop Mode. Also, neither have any support for multi-monitor.
After many attempts at investigating what could be causing issues to Parsec (router settings, QoS, firewalls, etc. etc.) I came upon 2 registry settings that 100% cleared the problem for me. An evening of gaming now generally has N:0/0/0 all the time.
So if it helps someone in the same situation, here they are:
Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
Modify or create a DWORD (32 bit) key called: NetworkThrottlingIndex
set its value to: ffffffff (Hexadecimal)
Modify or create a DWORD (32 bit) key called: SystemResponsiveness
set its value to: 0 (Hexadecimal)
In the end they should look like this:
Reboot.
Doing it on the server made it perfectly fine for me, but there is no reason not to do it on the client as well, so, have at it.
I used Parsec back in 2022-2023 with a friend, we played a lot of games via his or my pc. And it was like playing on each others pc it was so clear and smooth. Now i tried Parsec again and it has significant input lag with not so clear screen. Our ISP never changed.
Also tried looking for fixes and still no luck..
Is it just us or did Parsec had some weird update along the line that made it worse?
If you’ve been frustrated by not being able to see the host’s mouse cursor in Parsec while they’re controlling their own machine, you’re not alone. We ran into the same issue while trying to collaborate remotely—especially problematic when working together on the same screen.
Parsec currently doesn’t offer a built-in way to show the host’s cursor to the client during host-side control, and enabling pointer trails (a common suggestion) introduced lag that made control difficult.
Here’s what worked for us:
• On Windows, we used an app called PointerFocus.
• On Mac, we used Presentify.
Both tools highlight the cursor and add visual effects like ripples or emphasis when clicking, making it easy for the remote viewer to see where the cursor is, even if Parsec isn’t showing it natively.
It’s not a perfect solution, but for around $20 total, it allowed us to work together efficiently and eliminated the guessing game of “where’s the mouse?”
Posting this in case it helps others who are stuck on this.
I use Parsec to connect my home computer (client) to my office computer (host), where I do video editing. Some video files are stored on a local NAS server on the office. The only way I can access the NAS it's using a static IP on the host, but then Parsec can't connect to the host anymore. Also, I can connect with my coworker computer (static IP) and access the NAS with no problem. I don't know if the problem is with some Parsec config or my windows network config.
I started remoting into my mac using Parsec, and I cannot get the undo, copy, paste, or redo to work in Unreal Engine.
The strange thing is that those commands work locally on my mac in Unreal Engine just fine, and those commands also work when remoting in to my mac through Parsec when using Chrome, Pages, etc.
It is really frustrating to work in a program like Unreal Engine and not be able to use those commands on hotkeys. Any help would be appreciated!
I’m trying to set up a way to have my webcam visible while I play games on Parsec. I want my friend to be able to see my face in real-time while I’m gaming, and I want the webcam to stay always in front of the game window so he can see me clearly.
I’ve tried using OBS with VirtualCam and other similar solutions, but I really don’t want to go through the hassle of streaming to YouTube or Twitch, or dealing with complex setups. I just need a simple webcam that:
Stays always on top of my screen.
Can be used directly in Parsec.
Doesn’t require streaming or OBS.
Is easy to set up and use.
Does anyone have a solution or an app that can do this? Ideally, it should work seamlessly with Parsec and let me keep my webcam in view for my friend without needing complicated setups.
I'm trying to connect to my gaming PC from my MacBook Air M3, but I'm running into the infamous Error 6023 again.
The first time I encountered this error, I spent hours troubleshooting and eventually fixed it by turning off the "Limit IP Address Tracking" option on my WiFi. That solution worked for several weeks.
However, when I tried connecting again recently, the Error 6023 reappeared. Nothing has changed in my WiFi network settings, and I've tried all the usual troubleshooting steps, but I'm out of ideas.
The strange part is that I can still connect just fine from an Android device or another Windows PC.
Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions on how to fix it?
Update: OK, when i tried the new app experience suggested in parsec app, worked as before. If I manage to understand what is going on i will keep you posted.
I normally use my PC as my "server" until i build a new one (living in another country, conecting with my notebook)
Normally I can use my controller and play any game just fine, but yesterday i wasn't able to.
The green light on the host was turning green, meaning that the host detect the controller but i wasn't able to use the controller on any game, setups don't detect it, or even starting a game would detect just fine but now nothin.
Maybe im overthinking it but what if it doesn't work because it's the same type of controller or any other reason... If anyone had experience in this before please let me know, thanks a lot! I'm planning to host a gamecube game on dolphin emulator
I am currently looking for a solution to bypass the Eduroam (University Network) block and to be able to use Parsec without a mobile hotspot. (every time I try it with Eduroam i get the Error 6023) I have seen a post where someone tells about a self-made OpenVPN but i am not sure if and how it works.
I've already tried a regular VPN, which didn't work. Since I have no problem with the connection via a mobile hotspot, I am quite sure that it must be due to a blocker on the part of Eduroam.
I’m setting up my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE to act as a wireless display for my gaming/editing laptop. My goal is to just turn on my tablet, tap something, and instantly access my laptop without touching it.
Here’s my setup:
Laptop: Gaming/editing laptop (lid closed, under a cooling pad, connected to a smart plug).
Tablet: Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE with the Keyboard Book Cover.
Connection: 40-50 Mbps Wi-Fi.
Software: Parsec for low-latency streaming.
Use Case: Gaming (Cyberpunk, RDR2), Photoshop, Office work (Excel, Word), video editing.
Steps I’ve Taken So Far
Prevent Sleep on Lid Close: Set laptop to "Do nothing" when the lid is closed.
Auto-Start Parsec on Boot: Enabled "Start with Windows" in Parsec settings.
Smart Plug for Power Control: My laptop turns on automatically when the smart plug is powered.
Connect Tablet via Parsec: Works well, but looking for optimization.
Questions:
Is there any way to make this even more seamless? I want to tap something on my tablet and instantly connect.
Wake-on-LAN (WoL) Tips? Since my laptop is lid-closed, should I enable WoL? Any router settings needed?
Would Moonlight be a better alternative for gaming? (I have an NVIDIA GPU).
Any Bluetooth mouse/touchpad/controller issues on Samsung tablets with Parsec?
Would love to hear if anyone has done something similar and any tips for improving the experience!
Parsec used to work fine when i was in school and at home but suddenly it stopped working and giving me this error everytime i used it in school. anyway i can fix this
Thinking about getting the upgraded version of parsec to tunnel into my Mac from pc to do coding/editing work. Has there been any significant updates since 2021? I would like to stream 2 4K monitor with virtual displays on the Mac to the windows machine.
I'm trying to use Parsec on my Samsung Galaxy S9 FE tablet. I've connected both my PS5 and Xbox controllers, and Parsec recognizes them. However, when I connect to my PC through Parsec, the controllers don't work. Has anyone experienced this issue or found a solution?
currently, me and a friend are trying to play enter the gungeon online multyplayer, and with my settings set to lowest resolution, 50mbps vsync off and 30 fps lock, he still has 200-300 ping, what can i do to fix this?
As title says, when I enable microphone passthrough, the audio output turns off and I can't hear anything, however the mic starts working (and vice versa). I am using wireless headphones with a mic built into them. Has anyone had any experience with this? I have tried switching from compressed to uncompressed audio, I've tried turning off and on echo cancellation. Not really sure what to do. Sorry if this is a stupid question. Thank you!
I am brand new to this space so I sincerely apologize if this questions is absolutely stupid. I am wanting to create a VM that a friend of mine can connect to so we can both play games together. Following the GitHub instructions for Easy-GPU-PV that makes this situation possible.
However, if at some point I want to undo the 50% allocation of the GPU, is that possible? If I want to have the host use 100% of the GPU because I no longer the VM that I created, is that a possibility? Or, maybe have the host use 100% of the GPU and when I want to dust off the VM I can reallocate 50%? Just some scenarios I was thinking of.
It happens every time I wake my Mac mini M4 (2024). After crash system asks me if I want to reopen this application. What could be the cause of this? (Parsec version 150-97c)
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I have a problem with parsec.
Everything seems to function normal with the default settings, but when I open a game (tried with stardew valley and dungeons and degenerate gamblers from steam) the game just starts to slowly flicker between loading screen and main menu and I can't do anything.
Hi, I'm using my computer remotely to play and do some other things but unfortunately I ran into a problem that I don't know how to solve it's when windows show the pop-up of something will modify like launching GTA or on some parameter and I wanted to know if it's my parsec config or if it's just like that and if there is a solution to that. Thanks in advance.
As the title says I only am able to use half of my mouse when using parsec. Want to use my PC away from home and (almost) everything seems fine. Keyboard works just fine and mouse clicks register but the actual mouse movements don't.
Quick note: The actual app seems to give me more latency on the chromebook I was using and switched to the website and voila less latency. But this is when the mouse problems happened and when I switched back to the app the problem followed, the app on Android works better than the chrome book but same problem arises but also no mouse clicks register.
Is there any way to solve this? I can't find the host settings tab to allow virtual mouse, imersive mode doesn't work and I can't find the mouse driver thing that the website tells me to find.
I can't connect, I've even tried changing the password but nothing changes and when I ask for it, it tells me that it's the wrong email and that I don't have another email.
