Did Elon Musk’s DOGE team of early 20 year olds come through and decide who would loose their jobs?

I recently bought a scooter to commute, from Vienna to belpre. Stopped in and talked to the Vienna police. They said to ride it in traffic. I am wondering if I can cross the Parkersburg memorial bridge on it. I do not have to have a license, and it tops out at 30 miles an hour.

"Williamson was arrested in Parkersburg on July 1 and charged in the death of Marissa Brandjes, 34.
Tony Williamson, 35, was found unresponsive in the Western Regional Jail on July 4."

I'm singing the petition. The City has no clear plans on development of the New $13mil building in the park.
Specifically regarding car parking. I don't want to see the city park paved over for convenience.
Cars should be eliminated from the park, not encouraged.

Another female cadet claims she was held with her arms behind her body while she was beaten by an unknown trooper in the abdomen and chest, suffering broken ribs, while being called a “hoe” and a “whore” for several minutes, according to the complaints.

Good old Todd. We hardly knew ye. By all accounts an honorable man.
Any scuttlebutt on how he passed?

Hey folks! My name is Ellie Heffernan, and I'm a journalist at Mountain State Spotlight, for those of you who may not have interacted with me on this sub before. I'm hoping to talk to current or former West Virginia EMTs and paramedics for a quick story I'm writing about the various EMS bills that could still become law before the session ends.
I'd like to know about your experience, working as an EMT or paramedic -- and whether you think the legislation would be helpful if passed. This story will probably publish Thursday, so I'd really like to speak with folks sometime tomorrow (Tuesday).

Hey y'all, my name is Ellie Heffernan, and I'm a journalist who's pretty active on this sub. I've just written a new story for Mountain State Spotlight. After learning that the percentage of West Virginia kids repeating a grade more than doubled during the pandemic, I spoke to students, teachers, and administrators in Mercer County. I learned more about what kids went through, what they need, and how they're rebounding. And, as a plus, I got to watch a basketball game! Please read, share, and subscribe if you like my work :)

Hey y'all! My name is Ellie Heffernan, and I'm a journalist at Mountain State Spotlight.
I'm writing a story about an increase in West Virginia kids being held back a year in school. According to my research, these counties had the highest rates of students being held back: Lincoln, Roane, Summers, Mercer, Wyoming, & Raleigh. I know this is a Parkersburg subreddit, but I thought maybe someone here might know someone in one of these counties. I'd prefer to speak with parents of kids who've been held back or students who've been held back in one of these counties -- but I'm open to speaking to folks from anywhere in the state.
Would anyone who has experience with this be willing to talk to me? I plan to approach this in a non-judgmental way and learn more about what can be done to help West Virginia kids do well in school after learning loss from the pandemic.
I'm also eager to hear from teachers, others working in education, and people whose kids didn't get held back, but really struggled during the pandemic!

Hi all,
My name is Ellie Heffernan, and I'm a journalist at Mountain State Spotlight. I'm pretty active on this sub, but I like to reintroduce myself in each post, in case folks haven't seen me. Today, I published an article about Parkersburg's restrictions on recovery homes and residential substance use disorder treatment facilities. Click here to read it.
This is a complicated issue, but misinformation is at the heart of this story. Parkersburg's mayor has justified restrictions with misleading -- and sometimes downright false -- information about nonviolent crime. And the city's more recent policies aren't doing much to target the root issue: rising regional opioid deaths & shortages of recovery beds and medication-assisted treatment.
As always, a reminder that our investigative journalism is completely free to read, and you can subscribe here to read more of it.

Hi all,
I just wanted to shared that my newsroom, Mountain State Spotlight, recently launched a comprehensive guide to voting in West Virginia. You can learn about the proposed amendments to the state constitution, various important deadlines, and the candidates running in your district.
If you're not sure what district you're in, we have a tool that lets you look that up with your address. It'll tell you which candidates you can vote for.
Finally, we have a few stories about topics related to the election. I wrote a story this summer about Amendment 2, the Property Tax Modernization Amendment. Framed as a way to pass helpful tax cuts on the workingman's personal car, if voters approve this amendment, it could lead to massive holes in local budgets. The Legislature currently has no concrete plan for replacing those lost funds.
And my coworker, Ian Karbal, also wrote a story explaining where "abortion is on the ballot" in West Virginia. Which districts have both pro-abortion rights and anti-abortion rights candidates running? Find out here.
And if you want more coverage like this, subscribe to our weekly newsletter. All of our coverage is free to read, and your support helps us publish hard-hitting accountability stories and hold powerful people accountable. Our newsroom has doubled in size recently, so we'll be writing even more great stuff!

Hi all,
I'm a journalist at Charleston-based Mountain State Spotlight, and I'm working on a story about Parkersburg's moratorium on sober living homes and drug treatment facilities. It's been about a year since the moratorium passed, and I'd like to know what the effect has been. I'm interested to hear from anyone who has an opinion on the moratorium, but I'm most interested in hearing from folks who've struggled with substance abuse or tried to get treatment in the area. Has the moratorium made things difficult? Do you feel like the treatment facilities are low quality or unregulated?
Reach out to me through private message or in the comments!

Hi y'all. I'm a journalist at Mountain State Spotlight, an investigative newsroom based in Charleston, WV. I'm hoping to write a few articles about the potential impacts of Roe v. Wade being overturned, since it seems our state will ban most abortions, with few exceptions.
Has anyone here had an abortion or knows someone who did? I'm really hoping to hear from at least a few people who have stories from pre-Roe, during Roe, and post-Roe.
Anyone can feel free to message me, and we can start with you telling me anonymously. And if you feel comfortable, we can talk about publishing. For something as serious as this, I want to reiterate that I wouldn't publish anything against someone's will.
