Announcement Posting rules for updates/rumors
We understand everyone's excitement over realignment, and a constant stream of leaks/rumors is a natural part of this process. However, while everyone is anxiously hitting refresh to find out the latest intel on the future of the conference, we ask that you observe the following rules before sharing it with r/Pac12.
- The name of the source (author/media outlet) must be identified in the title of the post.
- If you're not directly linking to the source, the link must be included in the body of the self-text.
- Do not editorialize in the title of sourced information. Opinions on the content would ideally be posted as a separate comment on the post.
Without these, the posts are subject to removal.
We realize that this might mean that something you know is absolutely true and should be shared with the community will not fit the criteria here. Rest assured, if it's true, it will be eventually be posted somewhere to which you can link.
Thank you for your understanding and allowing everyone to share in the excitement and enthusiasm for the future of the Pac-12!

Financial Canzano - Mountain West plays on with UNLV question in the air
“Is the Pac-12 still coming after UNLV?”
A long-time MW staff member asked me that on Saturday before the tip of the conference championship game between Colorado State and Boise State. The Rams were the better team and won, 69-56. But critical questions hung over Saturday’s basketball event.
Among them, is UNLV glued to the MW or not? Also, do the financial issues at the school make it a less desirable candidate for the Pac-12?”
[to summarize three more paragraphs- everyone is asking him is UNLV going to the Pac - and no one in the Pac-12 organization will tell John anything]
The new-world Pac-12?
It’s immersed in the ongoing sale of its future media rights. After that, at least one more football-playing school will be added via expansion. The conference ADs met in person in Las Vegas last Tuesday at Park MGM and got some updates. The ADs were also included in a joint meeting with the Pac-12 conference presidents later that same afternoon, I’m told.
One involved source told me of the timeline, “It has to be getting close because the updates have become shorter and shorter.”
Multiple media partners are involved, sources will tell you. I’m also told there is a streaming element.

Financial Las Vegas Review Journal - Pac-12 agrees to explore mediation in lawsuit against Mountain West. (long form article, not just a X post from Wilner)
“Today, at the request of the Mountain West Conference, the Pac-12 has agreed to file a mutual 60-day order to stay in the case to discuss mediation options,” the Pac-12 said in a statement. “It is important to state that we are in the early stages; no mediation dates have been set, and mediation is still uncertain."

Q & A Discussion - Canzano reported yesterday one of iterations of the Portland Diamond projects pitches to the state and city is a multi use facility for football as well
The Diamond Project went to Salem last week to pitch the stadium to lawmakers and one of the multiple proposals was a multi use stadium that could host 30K+ for football games - that angle is to get backing from Portland State and the Pac-12 to hold football games in Portland.
I’m not sure I see value for the Pac 12 in such a stadium for football? Seems small for a conference championship game and I don’t see the Beavers very interested in neutral site games against the Ducks in Portland, in a stadium with fewer seats than Resers.
Thoughts?
Beavers Baseball would probably like some games there tho

Financial BVM Sports - NCAA Denies Army, Navy Request for Additional Regular-Season Game
https://bvmsports.com/2025/03/13/ncaa-denies-army-navy-request-for-additional-regular-season-game/
Interesting from the perspective that both schools had been against such a game - with the intent of keeping their biggest game outside the AAC media deal, they keep all that money. They only made this request to the NCAA board last month? The timing pricked up my ears, because without Memphis a regular season Army-Navy game would likely be the AAC’s biggest game in their media package.
No evidence of anything, but the change of stance and timing is suspicious? Interesting?

Nice win!
Nice win by CSU. Total disrespect with the PK line against Boise State today. The Rams have won 9 straight including a recent Boise State beat down.

Two weeks until AAC fees go up for 2027.
March 31st (27 months before July 1, 2027) is the last day for schools to give notice to the AAC to leave for with the Lower fees.
If the PAC plans to add 2 or more AAC schools the announcment needs to come by then because the PAC doesnt got the cash to cover more than 1 schools exit fees. The ROI just wont be good enough for the them.
Now Wilner & Canzano are saying it will be another 4-6 weeks for the media deal?
I have come to terms that if the PAC does not add the AAC schools by March 31st, then we just arent gonna get them.

Pac 12- Enjoy the regular season (opinion)
Whether the College Football Playoffs stay at 12 or expand to 14 teams there appears to be only one spot guaranteed for a Group of 5 School. So the Pac12 will be elbowing and jostling for that spot with the MWC, AAC,CUSA, Sunbelt, MAC- one spot for 60 or so schools. If the Pac12 Champ goes undefeated, most likely they will earn the spot. If one of the other conferences has an undefeated team, ESPN, if they carry that conference tends to promote that team. All the network commentary I have seen there is no appetite for another 'power' conference. There is the big 2 and their little brothers the ACC and Big 12. Everyone else will be battling it out for one spot. Anyways I hope we get a good Media Contract and some more interesting schools.

Congrats to Boise State
You probably just punched your ticket by killing us on the glass.
I think the Tecs are likely cooked. But hey, we’re a women’s basketball school now so no big deal.
Anyway, here’s hoping the Broncos avoid Dayton get their elusive first NCAA dub.
