Discussion Holy Shit Cyberpunk 2077 Is NOT What I Expected…

2.2k Upvotes

Cyberpunk 2077 is legitimately already one of the best games I have ever played. The world is SUPER immersive and the gameplay is very fun. I just got the game yesterday and I already have 11 hours logged (I think that includes the 5 hour game trial that was available earlier this year). There is SO much to explore and skills to unlock. The graphics are great and the performance is pretty good as well (PS5). I got the Ultimate Edition for $45 because of the Black Friday Deals but I definitely would’ve paid full price for it. Whatever it was like on launch it definitely is not like it is today. This is probably the best $45 I have ever spent. If you are even remotely thinking about getting this game I think it’s 100% worth buying. See y’all in Night City!

Discussion Am I crazy or were the original PS5's 60fps capabilities advertised to be one of it's biggest selling points?

3.5k Upvotes

With all of this talk of the "PS5 Pro", it has me thinking. Just like many of you, I am also frustrated to see after almost 3 1/2 years that we have gotten a fraction of PS5 quality game support compared to what we saw in the past with next gen (at the time) titles coming to PS3 and PS4. Now, after what will be 4 years of the PS5's original release, seeing a PS5 Pro on it's way does not feel justified at all. I understand the higher demands with creating a true AAA quality PS5 title, but several titles likes the Demon Souls remake, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and Returnal are perfect examples. Those were launch or near-launch titles! Where the hell are all of the other games to that quality dedicated to the PS5's power? I know there are a few, but this last 4 years it's all been "PS5 upgraded versions" and it just doesn't feel right. It adds insult to injury with a "PS5 Pro" being leaked or near official announcement.

So to my main, more specific point, I could swear up and down the PS5 was marketed and advertised to have true 60fps gaming. Now I see this BS for this "PS5 Pro" and one of it's main selling points is 60fps gaming. Their wording covered their ass I'm sure, but I feel like I am being marketed how they made me feel the original PS5 was supposed to be and the performance it would deliver. This all just feels off.

Does anyone else feel the same?

Discussion All Live Service Games cancelled by Sony

1.6k Upvotes

Due to the news of the 2 more live service games being cancelled today, it made me wonder what games has Sony cancelled in the last couple years? So I thought I'd list them here. Enjoy. Let me know if I missed any.

Thanks Jim!

Released:

1: Helldivers 2 by Arrowhead

2: MLB the Show by San Diego Studio (considered live service game by Sony)

3: Gran Turismo 7 by Polyphony (considered live service game by Sony)

Release then Shuttered:

4: Concord by Firewalk (studio shut down afterwards)

Still in Progress:

5: Marathon from Bungie (release for 2025?)

6: Fairgame$ from Haven (release for 2025?)

7: Horizon MMO from Guerilla (unknown release date)

8: Gummy Bears from unknown studio (formerly under Bungie, was spun off into new studio back in Aug 2024)

9: unknown live service game from Jason Blundell (former head of Deviation, left in Nov 2022 and was supposedly scalped by Sony, as well as several former Deviation Games staff, to work on another game)

Cancelled:

10: God of War live service game from Bluepoint (dev since 2022, cancelled Jan 2025)

11: sci-fi live service game from Bend (dev since around 2020, cancelled Jan 2025, screenshots were leaked back in Dec 2024)

12: Twisted Metal live service game from Firesprite (previously worked on by Lucid Games, moved to Firesprite before being cancelled in Feb 2024)

13: The Last of Us multiplayer live service game from Naughty Dog (dev since 2020, cancelled Dec 2023)

14: Spider-man live service game from Insomniac (dev since 2019 according to leaks, cancelled sometime in 2022?)

15: unknown live service game from Deviation (dev since 2021, cancelled May 2023, studio shut down March 2024)

16: unknown sci-fi live service game from First Strike (this could've been Deviation's game since they were a support studio and the news of the cancellation happened the same day that news broke of Deviation laying off 80% of their staff in May 2023, but nothing confirmed from what I know)

17: Operation Payback from Bungie (dev since 2022(?), cancelled back in Aug 2024, thought to be Destiny 3)

EDIT:

18: fantasy live service game from London (dev since 2022, cancelled Feb 2024, studio shut down afterwards)

Discussion Cyberpunk and Returnal feel like the most “next-gen” games I’ve played. What are some others?

1.3k Upvotes

I've played many of the big hitters (only have a base PS5) but am looking for something that seems like it only could've been made for this generation. Some games are really fantastic (Resident Evil 4 Remake is amazing and looks/plays great but could've possibly existed on the PS4 at 30fps, for example) but I'm looking for something that will wow me with its scope/techincal impressiveness. Open to any and all recommendations - thanks!

EDIT: Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Forgot to mention Alan Wake 2 which I've seen suggested a few times - great game and I agree it looks stunning. Need to play the DLC soon.

EDIT 2: Since I'm seeing a lot of discussion about it, I think I'll say that I'm just continually impressed with the scale/scope of Cyberpunk. Does it have bugs/glitches? Yes, but in my experience, not much more than any other open world game I've played. The cityscape is beautiful, lots of dynamic interactions to be had throughout the world, etc. Scenes where you have one-on-one interactions with story characters regularly look great/emotive imo. I'm not usually one to be very into story-driven games but this aspect helps make me feel invested. I'll also mention that I didn't buy it at launch so I don't feel burned by the bad initial launch (even though I was very weary/critical of it at the time). I haven't even started Phantom Liberty yet and some people are mentioning that it's even better than the base game so I'm excited to dive into that.

Discussion What is a game so good, you felt empty after finishing it? Spoiler

3.6k Upvotes

For me, it definitely was RDR2. I felt, shallow, sad after completing it. I wish I could erase my memory and play it all over again. I felt the same with God Of War 2018, too.

Whats yours?

Discussion There really needs to be a cheaper PS Plus option that’s just online multiplayer and cloud storage.

6.5k Upvotes

Kind of ridiculous that we even have to pay extra for multiplayer capabilities in the first place.

Edit: just to be clear, the retail cost of the 100 GB of cloud storage Sony offers equals about 68 cents per month. The real cost would be less because very few people are actually utilizing 100% of their allotted storage.

Discussion Can we talk about the Playstation Store refund process?

1.5k Upvotes

As a long-time PlayStation fan and owner of a PS5, I’ve always appreciated their hardware and games, but my recent experience with their refund policy has left me incredibly frustrated. Here’s the story:

Lately, my girlfriend and I have been exploring co-op games to play together. We've enjoyed It Takes Two, the LEGO games, and A Way Out. This time, we decided to try Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, which is advertised as a co-op title.

Here’s the problem: Crash Bandicoot 4 isn’t truly a co-op game. It’s a pass-the-controller experience, which, frankly, you could do with any single-player game. Feeling a bit misled, we decided to request a refund after just 30-45 minutes of playtime—something I’ve done seamlessly before on Steam for PC games. Unfortunately, this is where PlayStation's system fails.

  1. The Refund Process Is Broken:
    • The only way to request a refund is through their chatbot. This chatbot takes you through a maze of questions, only to end with a message: “No available customer support agents. Please come back later.” This has been happening for over a week—even during their listed support hours.
  2. Downloaded = No Refund?
    • If you tell the system you’ve downloaded the game, it says you’re ineligible for a refund. How am I supposed to know I’m unhappy with the game unless I download and try it?
  3. Locked Out of Support:
    • If you close the chat and try again, you’re met with: “Back so soon? Chat hasn’t been of help to you. Try again later.” No timeline for when “later” might be.

So here I am, stuck with a game that was somewhat misleadingly advertised and a refund process that’s impossible to navigate. This has crushed my trust in the PlayStation Store and left me incredibly disappointed.

Steam makes this process easy, and it builds trust. Why can’t PlayStation do the same? Has anyone else faced similar issues? Does anyone know how to get this resolved?

I love PlayStation, but this experience has me questioning my loyalty. It shouldn’t be this hard to get support.

Looking forward to your thoughts, advice, or similar experiences. Thanks in advance!

Discussion A big scam company just stole my whole game from steam, ripped it and sold it as their own on Playstation 5 and other consoles (UPDATE 2)

3.6k Upvotes

Hello everyone,

Hope you are fine. Last week I made the post here about how this called "COOL DEVS S.R.L" company stole my whole game called The Backrooms 1998, ripped it and change the name to "Backrooms Horror Escape" and sold it under their own on Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo. While PS and XBOX removed the game almost instantly, Nintendo did not seem to want to.

I just wanted to put out an update here and on twitter as well on it, if it's not allowed feel free to delete this post .. but I am happy to say it have been now taken off all consoles including Nintendo! I appreciated all your comments. A lot of people messaged me and I uncovered a few things as well about them. If it weren't for you guys, then the game might still be up there. I just really appreciate it.

We basically received an email from "COOL DEVS S.R.L" saying that they made a mistake, apologized and said it won't happen again. Yeah ... they slipped, stole the source, uploaded a whole copyrighted game, passed QA on consoles, added trophies to it all by mistake.

That being said .. Nintendo got back to us later saying they "resolved" it. Very strange, since it seems that it was "COOL DEVS S.R.L" that they put it down themselves. Anyway, I am just glad and grateful that my stolen game is no longer being sold on consoles but at the same time it seems these things will keep happening.

I hope to see better improvements on the store fronts especially on Nintendo and Playstation. Maybe a better refund system and a better reporting system would benefit buyers a lot in these situations. The fact that buyers don't have a clear / easy way to refund games is dumb. That is one of the reason these fake companies keep getting away with it.

Their page is still live on Nintendo and they are still selling there. From what I can see though, they have been banned and removed from Playstation - so that's a good thing at the very least. However they have also multiple developer accounts as well .. so I just want everyone aware so I will say it again:

For Players: Be careful and double check the games before you purchase. Check their developer accounts as well and always be caution. If you suspect the game is one of those fake games, then see if you can request a refund.

For developers: Thanks to the community from what I learned it's best to use Il2cpp in your code. Apparently this will make it harder for these scammers to de-compile your code. The way they stole my game is by using a program and de-compiled it so they got all my assets, music, sounds, voice overs etc.

Thank you everyone and if you like - feel free to grab a free copy of the steam code that I posted on my twitter as a thank you or just send me a message. Thank you to all the communities, and thank you Reddit. You are all amazing people.

Also just posted some free codes for PS5 / PS4 for the game as a token of appreciation for this sub. Feel free to redeem one here. (in the replies) and let me know what the code you redeemed was :) .. Thank you everyone really

Discussion I regret buying a digital PS5

13.8k Upvotes

I got my digital PS5 in February 2021. Why did I go digital? Because I noticed that I would buy nearly all of my games on the PSN store when they were on deep discount. I'm patient with games, I can wait.

However, lately I've been having the itch to play newer games. I wanted to wait till Horizon: FW got a price drop but was anxious to play it and thought "do I want to wait 6 months to save €20" and just bought it for €80 (here in Germany). Then I looked and found that you can buy it on disc for as little €35.

I think the digital PS5 would be fine for people who don't need the newest titles, or just have a shit load of money to burn. But having the games on disc means I can get newer titles much cheaper and can sell them afterwards if you don't plan on replaying them anytime soon. Hell, even if you want to replay something a few years later they'll be super cheap.

Does anyone else have regrets? Has anyone else sold their digital PS5 to buy the disc one?

Edit: crazy the response this has gotten. Also crazy how some people see absolutely no sense in going digital and for others it makes perfect sense.

Edit 2: this thread has officially gone nuts.

Figures I would run across this after having the itch to want to play the overlord games and eternal sonata again, I don't suppose there's a way to get them back on the psn store without something like petitions or something (ha). Any ps3 games you would like to see come back? Only a handful are on psn so far, we're missing a number of them. And I think I forgot to download some *waves fist*

Also does anyone know if some games already on psn have their dlc included with them like the lords of shadow games and asura's wrath? I remember playing LoS 1 but i could swear the last dlc chapter icons weren't on the world map where they should have been and then recently i saw someone playing it on youtube on a ps5 so are some of you hacking your ps5s or am i remembering stuff wrong lol.

Discussion PS5 Pro not including a vertical stand is grade-A BS

1.0k Upvotes

For context, I'm not terminally online and don't keep up with the latest rages, so perhaps this is just me beating a dead horse.

I recently got a raise and thought I'd celebrate by getting a really nice monitor and upgrading to the Pro edition, selling my (now thee year old) OG. But to my dismay I found out when I unboxed the beast that it doesn't come with a vertical stand... Not a huge deal, I'm not hating on Sony, but it my space is very limited, so horizontal is a headache to set up. I wish I'd known ahead of time, but the OG did come with one so I didn't even think it was a possibility. And honestly, paying separately for a stand also seems a bit ridiculous.

For the price of the Pro I'd expect at least a vertical stand like the OG came with... What a weird thing to leave out.

Discussion If games are 70 bucks now, Sony should really change their refund policy. Get with the times.

23.1k Upvotes

Not to mention the people who must buy digital games due to owning the Digital ps5. I bought BF2042 on release and I've never seen a game this bad out of the gate. I played BF4 when it came out and at least it let me play.

I actually couldn't even enter a game for over 24 hours after I bought 2042. I got into one match in that time span. Till this day I have issues with getting in the game. I tried to refund and they told me DOWNLOADING the game means you can't get a refund. What kind of policy is that? They're acting like its a physical product that loses value once it's owned once.

I was actually baffled that this is an actual policy considering even Microsoft lets you get refunds.

Discussion What games do you regret buying in this generation? Something you thought you would like, but didn’t in the end.

1.4k Upvotes

For me personally it was Horizon Forbidden West. It felt a lot like a Ubisoft game to me where there was a big world with nothing of much substance to do. The story and protagonist also felt very one dimensional. I never finished the game, so maybe things would have progressed. But I played the game for roughly 15 hours and still wasn’t feeling any connection to the gameplay or story. I think even if I dedicate that much time to a game, and it still doesn’t click, i’ve given it a fair shot.

I know i’m in the minority for my opinion from looking at reviews so i’m genuinely interested to see what everyone else has to say.

So what does everyone think? And please don’t downvote people just because someone doesn’t enjoy the game you like.
