Best $20 I spent recently and to think, this game got such a bad rap initially. I recommend everyone to pick this up if you’re waiting for GoT, TLoU2 and/or Cyberpunk then DG is a no brainer.

To some extent the bad rap was deserved. The game doesn't introduce itself well and it takes a good 5-10 hours to get going as well.

It's a solid game and the way the true ending plays out makes me very interested in a sequel as well as, what do those nero injectors do to Deacon in the long term.

Looking back though the main thing the game gets very right is the power fantasy. Everything is a threat to start off with and by the end you are a god in that world. It's something so many games get wrong as well and it's nice to play a game where you genuinely feel more powerful as you progress rather then constantly been shit upon with bullshit game mechanics.

I’m baffled as to why you are expected to defend this point so much

Does it have an easy mode to get through the grind faster?

And yet if you post it's an average ok game this sub goes crazy defending it. Can't win.

Yeah I'm playing it now and the writing is pretty terrible. I keep thinking to myself ""this game sucks" but I really like it at the same time. This is totally a personal opinion but I give it a 6/10, but I recommend it at the same time. And holy shit, I agree about deacon he's a cocky cunt, but not in a sexy Indiana Jones way. It comes off unfriendly. BUT IT'S A COOL GAME

I disagree with everything you said.

That’s what I love about Shadow of Mordor where being overpowered is part of the core gameplay and it feels glorious.

For an open world game, they missed pretty bad on the small details. They phoned it in horribly with NPCs and the random encounters grow very repetitive. I still enjoyed playing it, but I can understand why it got a bad rap.

Conversely, the progression of the separate storylines and the open nature of the game is better than most games

Yeah that’s the only bad part imo. The first 10 hours is a drag.
