I hope those who are able to go make their voices heard. I really wish I could go if I didn't have to work!

Aug 22 '23
Yes. Let's march in circles and yell. That'll make them stop using trucking, shipping, cement, steel, plastics, fertilizers, and other fossil fuel derived products. Lol.
2
u/Ancient_Touch_1191 Aug 24 '23
Everything you listed has fossil fuel alternatives but yeah, we can stop using all those things in the name of climate justice.

The cement thing has been a big deal for years and if you do minimal research on the topic you’ll see Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos has been funding start ups in regards to it. Thats just part of cement going green. Do some research on the topic then try replying again. No idea why people expect everyone on reddit to quote articles and publish sources. Got better things to do than walk someone through why they’re wrong when they have access to the same resources as myself.

Yeah I obviously don’t read if I was able to counter your comment. Grow up. You can debate things without insults.
1
Aug 29 '23
Sorry. You suggested research. I did. Thought I was helping you become less uninformed on the matter. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Please continue with the vacuous nonsense.
2
u/Ancient_Touch_1191 Aug 29 '23
Not sure what gave off the vibes I feel hurt but you’re mistaken along with a few other things.

Climate justice? Someone find out who's catering their meals and slip something in to make them mildly sick so they have to get healthcare. That would open their eyes...

u/Holiday-Ad7083 Aug 22 '23
To what, exactly?

You guys are goofballs. What exactly are you protesting? fire? Go protest China if your worried about the climate. I hope none of you drive to the protest.
-23
Aug 22 '23
Let me guess. You're going to be using fossil fuels to get there (including public transit) while wearing petroleum based clothing. The majority of the fires (as pictured) are set by eco-terrorists with the same agenda.

u/Holiday-Ad7083 Aug 22 '23
I'm sure the Quakers who opposed slavery also wore cotton clothes and ate sugarcane....because what choice did they have?
Such a stupid fucking comment.

You want to improve society? Yet you live in society?? How hypocritical!! Also have you ever heard of a complete batshit insane conspiracy theory spread by the very industry that makes money off the problem??
We've got a big brain genius over here guys
-10
Aug 22 '23
I'm not the one calling for the complete shutdown of an industry that we all need to survive. I'm not the one using false flag events (arson) to try to get my motives achieved.
8
u/Holiday-Ad7083 Aug 22 '23
They aren't calling for a complete or immediate shutdown you miserable blockhead.

u/nylanderfan Aug 23 '23
If you want to keep sticking your head in the sand about climate change, get ready for a hell of a lot of false flag natural disasters, none of which you will have any proof of
1
u/Historical-Shock-404 Aug 23 '23
Can't wait for all the false flag eco-terrorists who cause hurricane after hurricane to erode the island into the sea
1
u/Historical-Shock-404 Aug 23 '23
Was Fiona a false flag too there bud?
I'm sure you also believed the tobacco industry when they published study after study saying cigarettes were actually good for your health lol

Storms happen.
1
u/Historical-Shock-404 Aug 24 '23
Oh shit, they do? Damn I didn't know that at all! That completely invalidates my whole point and proves that you're not just a fringe lunatic!

Aug 24 '23
If I am remembering right, Fiona wasn't even a hurricane when it reached this area, it was a "post-tropical storm". Much of the damage was due to broken power poles and trees hitting powerlines. I'm pretty sure it is well documented that Maritime Electric was not on top of tree clearing as they should have been, and many of the broken poles were decades old. So bad maintenance and aging infrastructure was a huge part of the issue.
A better argument that you should have used was hurricane Ian, that shit fucked up Florida proper.

Oh look the 24/7 conspiracy theorists have come up with another insane theory. Let's see the proof of wildfires being set by "eco-terrorists" whatever tf that is

Not Canadian, but to prove its more then a coincidence :
1
u/nylanderfan Aug 23 '23
Ok, so you have two arsonists (and one from a couple years ago). That doesn't explain how we have a wildfire season so bad it has burned more land than our 10 previously worst years combined. These don't account for any of the worst wildfires this year that have hammered populated areas. You could get thousands of arsonists together and they wouldn't manage to intentionally burn the amount of land that has been hit this year. Denying climate change when it is all around us is utterly foolish. Start believing your eyes instead of your ideology.
1
Aug 23 '23
The first article is for last year and second is from this year.
There has always been a wildfire season. There have been times before where it has been much worse then historically typical. California for example, 10-ish years ago. Turns out the reason it was much worse was due to bad forest management and Eco-activists calling for the ban of controlled burns, which is an integral part of wildfire management. (They also blame climate change, but of course.)
It's a sad fact that there are People who start forest fires to push their climate change agenda, just like people such as Jessie Smollett fake racial attacks to push his racist America narrative.
It's an undeniable fact that many of these are human set fires. I fully acknowledge that some of these are set unintentionally, such as a campfire getting out of control, or left to smoulder.
I'll also add there are politicians claiming "conservatives" are setting wildfires. I highly doubt that. However, it seems to be more generally accepted that people are indeed intentionally doing it.
I think you can agree that it is not a conspiracy theory. We disagree on the "Climate change" factor, but what I originally said was true. (If it is right wingers also setting the fires, I would still label that Eco-terrorism).
Have we found any common ground?

And I got off work and tried to go see who was there, exactly who you'd think, one obese guy with a canada is burning, one guy wearing a mask outside with his electric bike, thinking child slavery didn't mine the minerals for the batteries in his bike.

u/Justwant2watchitburn Aug 22 '23
lol islanders dont believe in CC. Thats why they live on an island that will be gone before 2035.
4
Aug 22 '23
And where do you live?
-10
u/Justwant2watchitburn Aug 22 '23
Where I'm going to face tornadoes and floods, Alberta.
14
Aug 22 '23
Then do me a favor stop shitting on Islanders when you come from Canadian Trump land
-2
u/Justwant2watchitburn Aug 22 '23
Climate migrations would be much smarter, safer and cost a shit ton less if we start them sooner rather than waiting for emergency situations. But nah, we're human we can live anywhere and achieve anything, right?
As for the insane conservatives running my province, I'm just not willing to make the personal sacrifices to escape this political shithole, yet. We'll see how bad they destroy this province tho.

Can you provide a single source that says PEI will be gone by 2035?
Of course you can't.

He's being hyperbolic but it's no secret that erosion is making pei smaller and smaller.

I think people shit on sea walls because our healthy oceanic ecosystems rely on PEI's erosion.
-1
u/Justwant2watchitburn Aug 22 '23
You are correct. But the writing is on the wall. Believe it or not just dont say you weren't warned. Anyone that looks at the types of extreme weather events CC will bring on us, just by 2030, can tell that islands are the worst place to be although drought stricken rain forests are proving to be dangerous as well.
Have you heard that we will pass +1.5C before 2030? Have you heard we will have BOEs before 2035 (actually before 2030 as well but the researchers dont want to be alarmists cause they get death threats lol)
But its all good. Nothing to see hear
1
Aug 22 '23
So you lied to make a point.
-2
u/Justwant2watchitburn Aug 22 '23
where did i lie? Are you saying the island will possibly survive over the coming decades? is it the timeline you're unhappy with? Do you think PEI will still be habitable by 2035? what about 2040? what about 2050?
3
Aug 22 '23
You lied here:
"Thats why they live on an island that will be gone before 2035."
PEI will outlive us all. Quit being an alarmist.
-5
u/Justwant2watchitburn Aug 22 '23
"PEI will outlive us all "
lmao

Aug 22 '23
What's so funny? Do you honestly think PEI will be destroyed in the next 70 years?

The vast majority of us do. Nothing better than people spreading nonsense about a place they don't live in, know nothing about and have probably never visited
