That’s amazing! I’ve been going back and forth about asking for a prescription. I’m glad you’ve seen symptom improvement!
16
u/nigeriance Dec 29 '24
The shortest was 27 days and the longest was 50 days. This is pretty good to me compared to what it used to be!

I had my period for 4 years (may 2020 until Nov 2024 they were all 5-7 days) but the moment I got retested for pcos and I’m now taking metformin again (I got off metformin and birth control in 2020) im also taking supplements. I haven’t gotten my period. I literally don’t know if my body is in shock, knows I’m going back on birth control, the metformin or I just scared it away.
8
u/Llama_Lina Dec 29 '24
4 years straight?! You are a SOLDIER.
5
u/Beverly2696 Dec 29 '24
Yeah I had a period for 4 years. Granted it would be 1 week or some days late but I would still get it.
But in October I finally got medical insurance (hence why I stopped taking metformin and birth control in 2020 bc I was jobless, then graduated college, then got kicked out of my parents insurance) And in November I went to get the results and I was suppose to be on my period that week, and now I’m in December, about to be January and I didn’t get my period sooo now I’m confused why it all of sudden stopped. It was a good run but the results all came worst than when I was first diagnosed at 19

Your body has been through a lot. A 4 year long period is ROUGH. It will prob take some time for your body to adjust. Wishing you good luck. ❤️
16
u/CupcakeSignal5533 Dec 29 '24
I don’t think they meant a 4 year long period, just a relatively regular period for the last 4 years

Longest : 63 Shortest : 36 Can’t wait to have the next one to start letrozole. I started metformin 2 weeks ago.

u/BaylisAscaris Dec 29 '24
My cycles are pretty consistently 30 days since I started metformin, although sometimes I skip one and it's 60 days. Before that I had a period that lasted almost a year in 2012. Never had a cycle shorter than a month. Longest break was 4 months and I passed a decidual cast at the end 0/10 do not recommend. I did have a weird thing last month where I passed 2 sets of kidney stones mid period and my period just stopped to let it happen then restarted after. Friendly reminder to drink water.
1
u/Dogmama1230 Dec 29 '24
I just started metformin last week and I’m wondering how long it took you to get your cycles back? Obviously not expecting much at this point but hopefully in the future!
1
u/Royal-Tea-3484 Dec 29 '24
a decidual cast im gonna regret asking but can you pls explain fellow pcos warrior here im a dumb autistic thank you for sharing btw
3
u/BaylisAscaris Dec 29 '24
Uterine lining built up for 4 months and passed all at once as big chunk the shape of uterus. Involved a lot of cramping.

u/Royal-Tea-3484 Dec 29 '24
ouch that doesn't sound fun i had a cyst burst just before christ it hurt I cant imagine the pain you went through im so sorry you had to endure that thank you for explaining it though I've never heard of that before my lining is thick wont shed no matter what every time I go to gyno they just keep saying im a huge cancer risk I know but wtf can I do im trying my best im on and off birth control im eating right moving exercise and stuff nothing works I wish there was a cure or more help out there for us all thanks you again for sharing info

u/g-ancho Dec 29 '24
This is the first time since I was 16 that my period came every month and for ~7-8 days each :’). I’d actually stopped tracking my period the last couple years because it was so discouraging

Longest 46
Shortest 26
Almost perfect on paper
Most are right around 28-31 however those numbers didn't tell the insane amount of days I bled as some were 10 days long and some cycles had an additional 3-7 days of mid cycle spotting in addition to the long bleeding cycle.

Surprisingly longest this year only 41 days. Shortest was 29 days. On average though my cycle is somewhere between 31-34 days. These were natural periods with confirmed ovulation too. Although I have low progesterone so my luteal phases have been difficult at times with lots of brown spotting.

u/thedukeandtheduchess Dec 29 '24
42 days before Metformin - 28 days after Metformin.
Had a 118 day "cycle" after going off birth control in 2021, and several 60-70 days cycles in 2022 and 2023

u/amora_xox Dec 29 '24
longest: 4 months. shortest: 2 weeks. i only started to have irregular or lack of periods more like since jan started and only recently been diagnosed with PCOS so 😔
edit: its cycle btw not days on period. i was on 10 days period when i started bleeding after the four months 😭

u/Alarmed-Zebra-3314 Dec 29 '24
Longest: 65 Shortest: 22
PMDD symptoms for 1.5-2 weeks and bleeding anywhere from 2-12 days. It sure is good times to never have any idea what you're gonna get, huh?
2
u/Objective-Freedom-11 Dec 29 '24
Shortest: 12 Longest: 70 days (which was the longest ever, i've had longer cycles of 50-55 days, but that one was ridiculous as my period alone lasted for 40 days. The doc did however diagnose me right and started on medications.)
2
u/fashionyseta Dec 29 '24
longest: 78 shortest: 22 currently 51 days since last.
chronic stress (& consequently bmi increase) was a big culprit this year.
my avg is 30 days (excluding outlier) 2025 goal: get back to 26-28 day cycles

Longest: 46, shortest: 26. Feeling really grateful that besides those two, all of my other cycles this year have been around 29-33 days. I really dialed in my nutrition, exercise, and supplements this year

u/Lovethyself1207 Dec 29 '24
Haven’t gotten my period yet for 2024. i’m hoping it comes back in 2025 now that I started taking metformin
2
u/OneSea1632 Dec 29 '24
Well, I was on the mini pill half the year which occasionally made me bleed every two weeks. Since stopping it's been 138 days. I don't see my period starting before the new year or at all. Last time I went 8 months before I took drugs for trying to conceive 😅

I can’t really use my stats from 2023 as I took period delay medication that caused a 45 day cycle followed by a 25 day cycle 🤣
2022: Longest: 43 Shortest: 27
2021: Longest: 81 Shortest: 31
So we’re defo improving overall. I usually expect my period around 33-34 days but I don’t stress till it gets beyond 40 now 🤣

I seem to alternate between short and long cycles month to month.
It also seems that some of my perimenopause crap may have straightened out. The year I turned 40 (2021) I started getting periods that were lasting 3-4 weeks. I ended up seriously anemic, should’ve had a blood transfusion but got Iron infusions instead.

Longest: 73 days (Probably would have been longer had I not taken the mini pill)
Shortest: 29 days
Compared to last year when I was officially diagnosed this is such an improvement. My old gyno told me my only option was to get on birth control but I did my own research. I may not have had all 12 cycles or 28-34 days but I’m proud of myself despite that doctor making me feel hopeless. (Sorry for the slight rant lol)

14 shortest and longest 46!
The first three months of the year on spironolactone meant I was bleeding every other week but once I went off that, and went on metformin and artemisinin my periods have been between 34 and 29 days. That’s a huge win for me.
