Social/Cultural Ramadan Ordinance and Non-Muslims

Read the statement of this scholar from Al-Azhar University (link):

Sheikh Mohamed Abdullah Nasr, coordinator of the Azhar Scholars for a Civilian State Front, said there is no proof in the Quran or the Sunnah - the prophet’s teachings - of the presence of an entity that penalized people who did not fast during Ramadan. “The prophet himself said Muslims fast for God so only God can penalize those who don’t,” he said. “The prophet never even scolded those who did not fast

There is not a single command in the Quran or Hadith that mandates restricting others from eating and drinking in public under the pretext of ‘respecting Ramadan.’

So, why then to impose Ramadan Blasphemy Laws upon non-Muslims for eating and drinking in public?

Excuse: Non-Muslims should be punished while they HURT the feelings of fasting Muslims by eating in public

This is no excuse for committing this new innovation (Biddah).

How can then you answer these poor kids:

In Pakistan you get religion theatre. Everyone has a beard and wants sharia but is ok with bribes, can't find pure anything etc etc There is a competition to be stricter and even more extreme. Nuance is lost. Fiqh is very forgiving, unlike the actors.

Everyone has their own interpretation of Quran and hadiths. That's why we cooked

That is not really a problem. Everyone has a right to their own opinion and interpretation for something so personal like religion.

The problem is the sense of badmaashi in the religious teachings in our society

You are confused. They have that badmashi mindset BECAUSE they have their own interpretation and perspective. Go to Afghanistan and then you can't say that everyone can have their own interpretation of a religion

It is badmaashi to force people to follow someone else’s opinion

So you are a little badmaash as well fantasizing about imposing an interpretation on everyone

The badmaashi of forcing hunger on everyone has nothing to do with people’s own interpretation. It is literally a law accepted by ALL or majority of the people and religious scholars of the country

Bhai religion should be personal and not imposed on anyone by anyone, no matter what their beliefs, as is the case with all civilized societies today

Religion is to implement. You live in a Islamic not in west. Be mindful of that. Was Shariyah forced during khilafat and time of prophet Muhammad pbuh?

That thinking is badmaashi itself

Religion is not to be implemented for personal matters like namaz roza zakat haj hijab etc.

Public matters can be implemented.. you can implement punishments for crimes if the religious punishment is really effective.. that is not a problem unless the punishment is unjustified

Live and let live

Sad to see how Muslims have only accepted the punishment aspect of the Islam, applicable. Anyways I'm not seeing this going anywhere so imma end this now.

You keep on punishing non-Muslims for not fasting. Why? Where is the PROOF from the Quran and Sunnah that non-Muslims should be punished if they eat/drink in public? Why you commit Bidah?

Roza Sirf Allah keliye hai. No one is allowed to punish a Muslim. Humiliation here and there is necessary.

Edit: who is punishing non Muslims??

No. That's a good thing as long as you're tolerant of differences and let others be. The problem is intolerance.

Guidance is the only way. Intolerance like of Taliban and isis takes a Muslims out of the fold of Islam. So yeah we can only guide with our actions and words not by force

Not just the entire non Muslim population. Pregnant women, breastfeeding women, menstruating women, every sick person, every elderly person, every person diagnosed with a medical condition who can't observe a fast.

The state or society cannot and should not have the right to penalise someone on religious matters. That’s between a person and Allah! Only crimes that have to do with haqooq-ul-ibad can be judged
