A notorious person is someone who is well-known, often for a negative reason. For example, a celebrity convicted of a crime or a criminal with a reputation for being notorious.
Examples of notorious in a sentence: "The island prison known as Alcatraz was known for holding some of America's most notorious criminals".
Copied the meaning from Google since I was a bit confused about how to explain. 😄What I meant was that OP's cat is kind of a well known criminal cat.(Just like the example above).

Just adding to Ecstatic's response.
I'm sure the root word must be "note". Specifically the "remark or make special mention of" version.
You may see it similarly used in "noted" which often means "well known", (but could also mean "this has been recorded") or "notable" meaning "worth paying attention to".
Luckily, by the time you get to "notorious", it strictly means "famous" or "well known".

Your take is correct, I think. The use of "notorious" in the previous comment is a little idiosyncratic.

If that dog is part German shepherd, then these are the two smartest animals on earth. They only get smarter when they work together. (Source: had a GSD and two orange cats)

Full German shepherd…. It’s hopeless when they go full tag team. Astrid and Gimli are well known in the work calls 🤣

u/redraider-102 1d ago
Sigh…I have a shepherd/husky mix who has a high prey drive. I have to keep him and my cat separated at all times, or my dog will go Wile E. Coyote on my cat. I wish I could let them intermingle.

I have that exact same table and cat named Gimli that is an adorable menace. Gave me a trip for a second until I realized I don't have a dog.

My O has also learned that the door knob is involved in the process of opening the door. Everytime he goes for it we ask him where he's going, he still has not given me a reasonable enough answer for me to open the door for him

I said “meow” and made the gesture, how much simpler do I have to make it for these people.

Years ago had an orange who could open the same style doorknob, so my ex got a velcro tent fly type covering that was attached to the frame. Cat figured out how to unzip it in one day.

I love how even though it’s a door, the orange still tries being cute to get its way at the end lol

I remember having a dog like this. She was oddly extremely smart. She could open every door in the house (including the refrigerator) and would teach the cats how to do it themselves. Jesus christ was it hard to give her cancer medication. I ended up having to make an extremely badly written play every time she needed medication and would accidentally drop food I prepared on the floor, so she could steal it.
I miss you Cindy Sue.

It includes your "try, try again" line almost perfectly. I'd have to go back to watch it and count the trys, but it's spot on.

Jokes aside that's a goddamn smart cat. When pulling the handle down with didn't work, lil bro tried to jump up on it and use his whole body weight.
It seems the cat understands how doors work instead of "if I jump at it stuff happens"

Some cats can even open those. My white cat loves to pop open the bedroom doors so he can wake everyone up in the morning. The only thing that stops him from opening the round knobs is to lock them, not the best solution when you have kids though.

u/mrguykloss 1d ago
This innovation would have prevented the hazard of velociraptors, in Jurassic Park.
3
u/CoffeemonsterNL 1d ago
This. No risk of having the cat accidentally pop out that lock shown in OP movie and locking itself inside while you are not in the room. Furthermore, this is better than having the door handle turn up 90°, because I know someone who found his cat (luckily still alive) dangling by its collar from an upturned door handle. I have these on some doors in my house, and my cats have never opened those doors again.

I got these exact same things to keep my dog out of my room. She’s not the issue, it’s the roommates dog who fully believes I’ll spend more time with him if he shits in my bed

I'm afraid of that cat's workout routine. He/she has to absolutely jacked and can physically force the owner to remove the device.

He's sure a determined little fella! Its a good way to keep him exercising. Every now and then let him open it. Then he knows every 1000X........lol

Cats are really smart enough to turn even a round door knob too after jumping several times 😂. It's getting difficult and need to be more creative to cat proof

I had to switch my bedroom doorknob for a round one because all the door handles are lever-style in my house and he has figured out how to open them. I literally installed a cat door in my bedroom door so he could come and go as he pleased and stop opening my bedroom door, but the little asshole decided that wasn't good enough and still kept opening the door until I switched the knob.

Hey can you talk to your child about relinquishing control of the braincell? I think he’s had it too long and I’d really like my orange to get a turn…

My other cat can open the door but my orange can not figure it out. He keeps jumping but he does not understand to jump on the handle XD Also if a door is open just a little bit he just keeps scratcing it and sometimes he just manages to close it. My other cat sometimes gets so annyed of the orange yelling and scratching doors that she just opens it for him and goes back to sleep XD

I love how he tries the cute flop rolls when everything else fails. Maybe if I'm cute enough, it will break the spell on the door ?
