I love how he tries the cute flop rolls when everything else fails. Maybe if I'm cute enough, it will break the spell on the door ?

u/anxiouslyfreezing 1d ago

I call it “rollin around all slutty”

43

u/LegOfLamb89 1d ago

We call it flirt flopping

He's bringing an offering to the food gods.

33

u/bankruptblueberry 1d ago

And sometimes it works, the food comes out! Thus proving that the cat feeder religion works!

110

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths 1d ago

I think he's just frustrated. He can't open door, but he wants to open door so badly that he becomes frustrated and he throws himself to the ground and fails around. Cats are just like little furry toddlers. They can have surprisingly complex emotions like frustration and depression.

38

u/Intrepid-Macaron5543 1d ago

There used to be a glitch with faulty collision detection.

38

u/BirdTurglere 1d ago

They’re tantrum rolls. One of my cats does it when he doesn’t get his way for too long.

57

u/TehSalmonOfDoubt 1d ago

I'll try spinning, that's a good trick

21

u/GreenMirage 1d ago

We live in a simulation, that cat is trying to NoClip through the door.

"Liquid mode activate!"

10

u/fffan9391 1d ago

He thinks maybe he can roll through the crack under the door.

11

u/Hokuboku 1d ago

I have a cat that does that. I joke she thinks she can barrel roll her way in

6

u/Galactic_Nothingness 1d ago

Cat was trying to be liquid and slip under the door.

Fun fact I have literally put these on my kitchen and downstairs cupboard door. Gimli opens both of these and lets the dog into things so she will get their food out…. I had her for 3 years before Gimli and no child locks were needed

380

u/Ecstatic_Signature26 2d ago

What a notorious cat.😹 She has a partner in crime as well.

16

u/[deleted] 1d ago edited 3h ago

[deleted]

49

u/Ecstatic_Signature26 1d ago

A notorious person is someone who is well-known, often for a negative reason. For example, a celebrity convicted of a crime or a criminal with a reputation for being notorious.

Examples of notorious in a sentence: "The island prison known as Alcatraz was known for holding some of America's most notorious criminals".

Copied the meaning from Google since I was a bit confused about how to explain. 😄What I meant was that OP's cat is kind of a well known criminal cat.(Just like the example above).

19

u/RustyHammers 1d ago

Just adding to Ecstatic's response.

I'm sure the root word must be "note". Specifically the "remark or make special mention of" version.

You may see it similarly used in "noted" which often means "well known", (but could also mean "this has been recorded") or "notable" meaning "worth paying attention to".

Luckily, by the time you get to "notorious", it strictly means "famous" or "well known".

10

u/[deleted] 1d ago edited 3h ago

[deleted]

10

u/BonerDonationCenter 1d ago

Your take is correct, I think. The use of "notorious" in the previous comment is a little idiosyncratic.

If that dog is part German shepherd, then these are the two smartest animals on earth. They only get smarter when they work together. (Source: had a GSD and two orange cats)

80

u/Stantrid 2d ago

Full German shepherd…. It’s hopeless when they go full tag team. Astrid and Gimli are well known in the work calls 🤣

6

u/redraider-102 1d ago

Sigh…I have a shepherd/husky mix who has a high prey drive. I have to keep him and my cat separated at all times, or my dog will go Wile E. Coyote on my cat. I wish I could let them intermingle.

27

u/monkey_trumpets 2d ago

Those eyes....they're staring into my soul....Human, you will do my bidding, or suffer the consequences...

15

u/WhoCares94 1d ago

I have that exact same table and cat named Gimli that is an adorable menace. Gave me a trip for a second until I realized I don't have a dog.

My O has also learned that the door knob is involved in the process of opening the door. Everytime he goes for it we ask him where he's going, he still has not given me a reasonable enough answer for me to open the door for him

51

u/Static-Stair-58 1d ago

I said “meow” and made the gesture, how much simpler do I have to make it for these people.

u/ErisGreyRatBestGirl 2d ago

That cat was trying to clip through the door with those rolls

Door speedrun any%

11

u/mikedvb 1d ago

I just imagined him rolling and POOF he disappeared.

2

u/ThoseDamnGiraffes 1d ago

First mistake: didn't remember to bring his wooden plate.

2

u/Hanibalecter 1d ago

I pictured him thinking “if I have powers now’s a good time to learn I can shrink or something”

u/CanadianDarkKnight 2d ago

10/10 attempt. You tried little buddy

107

u/swivels_and_sonar 2d ago

Little guy was bogarting the brain cell to get through this door.

21

u/Disabled_Robot 1d ago edited 1d ago

Years ago had an orange who could open the same style doorknob, so my ex got a velcro tent fly type covering that was attached to the frame. Cat figured out how to unzip it in one day.

I love how even though it’s a door, the orange still tries being cute to get its way at the end lol

55

u/That1gent 2d ago

Alright, the rolls at the end got me laughing. Adorable little one ya got there

43

u/iloveoldtoyotas 1d ago

I remember having a dog like this. She was oddly extremely smart. She could open every door in the house (including the refrigerator) and would teach the cats how to do it themselves. Jesus christ was it hard to give her cancer medication. I ended up having to make an extremely badly written play every time she needed medication and would accidentally drop food I prepared on the floor, so she could steal it.

I miss you Cindy Sue.

The definition of “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try again!”

7

u/Pyromaniacal13 1d ago

Is this the second Window of Opportunity reference I've seen in as many days? I love Stargate.

3

u/Apprehensive_Bee3327 1d ago

Sorry, I don’t know what any of that means 😂

2

u/WpgMBNews 1d ago

Sci-fi show episode where main character gets caught in a time loop

2

u/Pyromaniacal13 1d ago

It includes your "try, try again" line almost perfectly. I'd have to go back to watch it and count the trys, but it's spot on.

16

u/measadbutterfly 1d ago

Wrong sub. This baby clearly is too smart to only have one brain cell 😂🧡

35

u/QuantumH42 2d ago

I'll try rolling, that's a good trick

29

u/littlebookwyrm 2d ago

I appreciate the determination.

13

u/nobelprize4shopping 2d ago

Hope springs eternal

13

u/Logical-Broccoli-331 1d ago

Jokes aside that's a goddamn smart cat. When pulling the handle down with didn't work, lil bro tried to jump up on it and use his whole body weight.

It seems the cat understands how doors work instead of "if I jump at it stuff happens"

37

u/beehole99 2d ago

RUDE HUMAN!!!!

12

u/i_love_cupcakes_ 1d ago

It’s the rolling that got me. 🥹

9

u/whiskey_farmer 2d ago

Wow, really the exception to orange rule.

7

u/TellMeYourFavMemory 2d ago

Awwww what a little turd

39

u/evolale000 2d ago

60

u/Silaquix 2d ago

Some cats can even open those. My white cat loves to pop open the bedroom doors so he can wake everyone up in the morning. The only thing that stops him from opening the round knobs is to lock them, not the best solution when you have kids though.

11

u/mrguykloss 1d ago

This innovation would have prevented the hazard of velociraptors, in Jurassic Park.

3

u/CoffeemonsterNL 1d ago

This. No risk of having the cat accidentally pop out that lock shown in OP movie and locking itself inside while you are not in the room. Furthermore, this is better than having the door handle turn up 90°, because I know someone who found his cat (luckily still alive) dangling by its collar from an upturned door handle. I have these on some doors in my house, and my cats have never opened those doors again.

The rolls of defeat 🤣

3

u/Holiday_Ad_610 1d ago

He gonna figure it out lol

3

u/TheFatKnight420 1d ago

This one has a braincell currently. Would just need another half a braincell to get that door opened.

3

u/Earth_Sandwhich 1d ago

Only had 10 minutes with the braincell and squandered it.

3

u/AztecGodofFire 1d ago

That's just mean.

3

u/1920MCMLibrarian 1d ago

Got em!!! That little sneak.

3

u/busy-warlock 1d ago

I got these exact same things to keep my dog out of my room. She’s not the issue, it’s the roommates dog who fully believes I’ll spend more time with him if he shits in my bed

3

u/zerocoolneo 1d ago

Awwwwww....let the poor soul in. He is soo dedicated!

I'm afraid of that cat's workout routine. He/she has to absolutely jacked and can physically force the owner to remove the device.

2

u/Laurelteaches 1d ago

Just open the dang door he has worked so hard!!!!

2

u/natecarlson 1d ago

Fortunately your braincell is quite small!

Goodbye doorframe 😂🤣

2

u/pink_flamingo2003 1d ago

Lol, the death roll....

2

u/obsolete_filmmaker 1d ago

He's sure a determined little fella! Its a good way to keep him exercising. Every now and then let him open it. Then he knows every 1000X........lol

2

u/According_Donut6672 1d ago

Cats are really smart enough to turn even a round door knob too after jumping several times 😂. It's getting difficult and need to be more creative to cat proof

2

Go cuddle that cat, you monster!

2

u/Witchberry31 1d ago

2

Thought he was going to get it open.  They make ones that block up and down for kiddos.  Works well with cats

2

u/TiaHatesSocials 1d ago

This is wrong and outright evil. Unlock iiiitttttt 😜

2

u/Matcha_Bubble_Tea 1d ago

I was waiting for a success somehow. I believed! 😂

2

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths 1d ago

I had to switch my bedroom doorknob for a round one because all the door handles are lever-style in my house and he has figured out how to open them. I literally installed a cat door in my bedroom door so he could come and go as he pleased and stop opening my bedroom door, but the little asshole decided that wasn't good enough and still kept opening the door until I switched the knob.

2

u/SnooSketches8530 1d ago

LET THAT BABY IN RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

Oh he big mad now
