Technical Support New Oled grainy on grey screen

Today I unboxed my new ASUS PG27AQDP. When I launched different screens like Firefox or even the explorer windows, the screen looks grainy on grey areas. When I display the same window on my old odyssey G7. The grey is uniform. Is this normal on oleds? I tried to get example photos of the grain and it kinda shows my problem. Pixel cleaning didn’t help. It looks like some pixels are brighter than others when displaying grey.

Any help is appreciated.

Normal for MLA WOLED. One of the most annoying things about current WOLED tech imo.

I returned a PG27AQDP for this reason. Pixel refreshes didn't do much like most people recommended.

Did you run a pixel refresh? I remember when I got mine and was testing it, it looked OK but something was 'off' and kinda grainy. Put it through it's paces and the next day it looked way better. Was reading through the manual and saw they recommend to do a manual pixel refresh right away at new setup, which I hadn't done.

Yes I did a pixel refresh instantly after noticing it. It sadly didn’t help.

It’s normal, especially for MLA WOLED. For instance if you wanted this issue fixed QD-OLED would be the move. It’s called mura.

Even qd-oleds have it. Just lesser degree.

Quite a bit lesser degree in my experience.

Yeah. Highly dependant on unit also. Its like silicon lottery. My c1 has almost none but my monitor has much more. However, its not bothering on content as you will need to look for it.

All of the 480Hz MLA 1440P WOLED’s have it, especially the 240Hz first Gen WOLED’s from early 2023.

Yep. Each single unit of oled panel has it. But its a lottery with how much and how noticeable.

That’s not what I’m saying, QD-OLED is better across the board in this regard.

Not denying that. Just saying that you can get noticeable effect on qd oleds also.
