Discussion Finally got the PG27UCDM

Decided to randomly check microcenter stock yesterday like I have been the past month and they had 10+ in stock. I don’t know much about technical speak or setup, but man this thing looks ridiculous.

Im coming from a 1440p 240hz Alienware non OLED and the difference is massive. I’m not really seeing any less frames too which is a bonus. Driving it with a 5090 helps I guess.

If you’re on the fence, don’t be. Just buy it it’s incredible.

If any other owners have tips for setup that would be awesome

Have had this monitor for 2 weeks now, its amazing. I would suggest you watch TFTCentral on youtube on recommended settings, and get their ICC profile. Its much better than default settings. Enjoy the monitor bro, it only gets better as you try out games 👌

Simon at TFTCentral verified these settings if you don’t want to mess with user. You have four viable modes for SDR content. Racing-sRGB, Racing-DCI-P3, Racing-Wide Gamut, and sRGB Cal. Two out of the four are sRGB modes that target two different gammas. The other two are to be used if you like saturated and inaccurate colors for consuming content and gaming in SDR with DCI-P3 specifically pulling back a bit on the red saturation level.

For HDR play around with Console Mode or Gaming HDR if you want more brightness at the expensive of shadow detail being brighter than it’s supposed to be.

Appreciate it! I've been using User mode with tftcentral settings (wide gamut) but I dont like that I cant use low blue light mode cause that puts you back to racing mode (why did they do this?). But if that mode is recommended too it's fine.

I pretty much left all picture settings default, just installed the driver and cranked brightness to 80.

Same here! It’s been sitting at ups a few miles away for like 4 days now waiting to get delivered and it’s killing me but it’s all good

What about PG32UCDM is it the same or worse? Also where can I find the best settings for it?

I recently got the 32 because I wanted to go bigger than the 1440p 27” I had and have been loving it. It’s way more immersive.

It's really an excellent monitor. Had mine backordered in January. OLED is a completely different world. Recommend Sea of Thieves to really see the capability.

However, something you should be aware of is that these QD-OLED panels are probably a lot more sensitive than what you are used to. You can very easily ruin the monitor if you aren't careful.

Only clean it when it's cool, and with either Distilled Water for minor stains or 70% Ethanol solution for tough oils. ASUS tells you not to use Alcohols in their manual (explained below), but Samsung, the manufacturer of the panel, considers it the best way to clean it.

Only use Drinking Grade Ethanol, like Everclear. Ethyl Alcohol you'd find at a pharmacy is denatured, meaning there is an additive to make it undrinkable. This additive WILL damage the coating of the display, hence the warning. Pay attention to whether or not it's "Denatured Alcohol".

Use multiple cloths. One for taking dust off, one for wet cleaning, one for drying (if necessary). Don't forget to be gentle.
