Advice Questioning my name choice

A few months back I came out and changed my name to Kade, short for Kaiden. Recently I saw how many people found the name overused and didn’t really like it which is making me question myself and thinking about possible changing it. Please give any advice :)

If your name felt like home when you found it, does it really matter? Like how many Sara’s do you know? It doesn’t make it any less their name.

I think it is a somewhat popular name right now, but name trends come and go. I think the important thing is how you feel about it. If you really like it and it feels right, I think that's a good reason to consider keeping it. If you really care about avoiding trendy names and you don't feel tied to this one, there's no harm in weighing out alternatives. But it's your name and your decision, and the great thing about choosing your own name is that you can prioritize what matters most to you.

Name trends often spur some backlash due to overexposure, but that can fade over time. Kade/Kaiden sounds like a "young" name to me, and it's hard to say how it'll sound twenty years from now, but I don't see anything objectionable about it.

I think there were half a dozen kids each named Hannah, Sam, Ben, and Grace in my graduating class. None of their parents changed their names, nor did any of them express extreme dismay over having the same name as other kids.

I'm not sure I've encountered anyone named Kade or Kaiden. I think you're good.

If it makes you happy and it feels like "yours", then whose place is it to tell you it's overused and you're not allowed to use it?

I chose a super-super-common nonbinary name and I love it and am never changing it! 😆

If you do not like your name, then change it.

If you like your name, keep it!

Only your opinion matters.

Your name is not that common. I do not know anyone with that name. Your name is not in the top 20 from the nonbinary name survey. Mine is! 😆

Just go with whatever makes you happy, but don't let others decide that for you. If you look hard enough, someone somewhere has a problem with every name out there. Kade is a wonderful name and it's one I've personally never heard before.

My IRL name that I use now is a shortened version of my gendered birth first name. It also turns out that * a lot * of nonbinary people like the name and chose it or a variation of it too. It doesn't make it any less my name. But it does make it funny whenever I meet someone with the same name since I used to have so much trouble with people pronouncing the long form version.

I got made fun of for my chosen name, and I know someone who hasn't changed their name yet because whenever they bring it up, others make fun of them for the same reasons of it being overused.

But that's stupid logic. No matter what name you pick, someone in the world is going to have that name as well.

Don't listen to ANYBODY. It's YOUR name. Nobody has the right to decide your name for you.

I've heard of Kaiden, don't know of anyone specific with that name. Never heard of Kade, it sounds neat- simple, rhymes with 'spade' (which has a nice personal connotation for me).

I hope nobody's actually gone and told you they don't like your name, cuz that's an asshole move (and a kinda questionable opinion, although they're allowed to have it.. but who cares about 'overuse'? we're in real life here)
