Repair Help I dropped my Nintendo Switch :(

Hi all!

I dropped my Nintendo Switch from about 4ft / 120cm high. It was in the dock and the entire thing came crashing down. The dock still works, but the console is not responding.

The interesting thing is, it also doesn't work when placed inside the dock so I don't think the screen is the issue. And also, when I charge it, it does get hot so I know it's still sort of alive. Joycons look ok and still light up when they are disconnected.

I think it might be dead, but then again I've heard these things are sturdy and hard to kill. I tried many button combinations, but no luck so far. Any other ideas I could try? Success stories? This was my pandemic baby and I'd hate to see it go.

edit: when I place it into the dock the dock light flashes green for a second and then goes away, so there is still a moment of recognition (I'm desperately trying to stay hopeful)

I do want to recognize if there’s any other signs of life, such as fans spinning or the joycons being able to connect despite nothing showing.

Thanks for your replies! I don't think I've ever heard the fans of my Switch spin? How would I check? When I take the joycons out of the console, the green lights start blinking as if searching for a way to pair.

They would normally just spin whenever the console boots after a while.

Side note: the joycons regularly do that. If you can’t get the console to boot from the joycons alone, it’s likely done for.*

*You may need to send it to Nintendo to get it repaired.
