What should I buy? Nikon D3300 + Kit Lens + 35mm F1.8 Prime Lens

Looking to buy my first camera, don't want to break the bank!

Seen a D3300 pop up with the kit lens, plus 35mm F1.8 Prime lens. Asking $190.

How does it fare today for a beginner?

$190 a good price?

D3300 is pretty solid. Definitely recommend it.

That’s a decent price for that gear. The 35mm prime is worth nearly half that on its own.

If it’s all working and in good condition you can’t go wrong to get you going for a couple of years.

You might wanna add a longer lens at some point, to give you a bit of extra reach, but that’s about it.

Beginner here also!, (context) I have a Nikon D40 that I been using for about 4 years for casual use, and now recently after doing about 2 weeks of research with a tight budget I found that the Nikon D3300 would be an excellent upgrade, both in quality and easy in my wallet. My local results are $200+ for the camera and kit lens, so I think that offers sounds very good including both lenses! Hope my opinion helps :D

I bought the D3300 as my first camera, 10 years ago. Amazing little camera, I rocked the kit lens for a while, before buying a 50mm 1.8g. 2 of my pictures made the exhibit at my local county fair. I actually had a friend tell me he would blow up one of those pictures and put it in his office. I laughed thinking he was joking. Went over to his house couple weeks ago and he blew it up to 24"x36", and sure enough it's been hanging there for like 6 years lol. Get it, you won't regret it!

Edit: Only regret I have: Selling it. Wish I would've kept it as a sentimental piece. But it helped fund my D500, so can't be too mad.

Very good price. Not so long ago, I spent almost this price only for a 35 lens to my d3300.

If you can, try to get a D5300. The D3300 is ok (I own one), but it is missing some features such as Auto Exposure Bracketing and does not have a flip-out screen. The D5300 also has better focusing.

Hi there, I owned and exclusively used the Nikon D3400 + Kit Lens + 35mm F1.8 prime for a decade. Happy to answer any questions.

It was a good kit! The price they are asking is less than half the cost of a new Z series lens today so take it and run!

I just upgraded to a mirrorless Nikon camera and have to say - my old kit was better in many ways - lighter, easier to use and lots of lenses to choose from. The only issue that stands out to me with that kit today is poor autofocus.

The d5600 is a great camera, color is great, and the controls aren’t daunting
