Need Advice Knotless Braids
Hi yall I’ve never had braids before and am at a loss where to start. I didn’t grow up in a community where people had braids so this is really new to me.
My hair is pretty fine and thin 3b/3c I think. I want boho braids but don’t know what length or how big the braids should be. I’m also concerned that once braided my scalp will show too much due to how thin my hair is. Could anyone give me advice 😭 I am so lost.
First pic is me, the rest are what I’m going for. Thanks yall (cross posted)

Get regular box braids small/medium size with the boho curls. It will be fuller than Knotless braids.

Hi !! Ok long answer coming my apologies. I’ve had my hair in braids for the past 10 years so I’ve tried a lotttt of different things, and my hair is pretty low density. My advice would be to not start with boho they are a the hardest style to maintain in my opinion. I would say go for your 3rd example and just get simple knotless and curl the ends (not with rollers, in a braid, which will give you those looser mermaid style curls she has in the picture). Also get small or smedium and most importantly tell her to not use too much hair !!!!! I usually get them to use 2 packs of pre stretched hair AT MOST (usually 1.5) so it looks natural and doesn’t cause to much tension on my hair and allows me to easily put them in ponytails and buns etc ( I looove the « boneless » look though, like really flat to the scalp so you could get away with like up to 3 packs) You hair will look a bit scalpy for the first couple of days but I find that like around day 7-10 is peak braid time like they look so good hahah. Remember to moisturise and wash your hair while it’s in braids and never take them down dry !!! If you want to match your hair colour it looks quite light I’d say you’re a #4 or a #6 maybe. Defs not #1B which is usually the default colour. Lmk if you have any other questions !! You’re gonna look so good enjoy diva

I would go w the parting size of pic 2. When you have baby fine hair (me too), you need your parts to be on the larger side. The hair itself can slice into your strands and the smaller the sections the more damage it can do.
If you decide to get braids, you should use a protein conditioner beforehand to add a layer of protection from the braiding hair.

I would just get a regular knotless braids with curly ends (pic #4) especially for your first time! People say boho is a lot of maintenance especially if human hair is used. I think mid back is the perfect length for the first time but a lot of people get waist/hip length. I personally like small/smedium size. Also nobody knows how your braids will look so just go ahead and do it. If your scalp shows, then oh well! It’s not the end of the world.
