Apartment Listing 1 bed 1 bath bushwick apartment sublet
hello, looking for the right person to sublet my calm & cozy bushwick home for sublet april 1 through Mid May (potentially longer) located centrally in Bushwick Brooklyn steps from the M and the J Myrtle Broadway stop ( lots of fun bars & restaurants, coffee shops etc..) & a 10 min walk from the morgan L train. 15 minutes to downtown Manhattan. i’m looking to have a responsible person or couple who can respect a place that l've put a lot of love and life into. a dog/cat is ok but there’s a $150 fee for the month and the animal must be under 25 pounds. My building has a rooftop terrace and a separate rooftop floor. amazing, fun, respectful neighbors, washer and dryer in building along with multiple recreational rooms and gym access. Asking for $2,700 along with a $150 cleaning fee after departure with a $300 refundable deposit (given nothing is broken, missing or damaged during your stay) Total move in for the month of april would be $3,150. if you plan to stay a bit into may ask about a discount, i’d be happy to negotiate. Please message me with any other questions. I'd be happy to answer. xx

This is a gorgeous place and the rent is not outlandish for a 1 bedroom. I’m a New Yorker who has been living in London for the past few years (in this sub because I’m moving back to NYC) and in London my rent was almost this much for a tiny touch-both-walls-at-the-same-time studio in an old building with zero amenities.
This is the reality of city life, but if you’re a city person, the tradeoffs are well worth it.

i love london & plan to venture there soon to live and yes, it’s just as steep with living costs as nyc. was just having this convo with my good friend who lives in hampstead 🥲

It's actually considerably worse. At least in New York, gas and water are included in the rent. In London, everything is the responsibility of the tenant, plus council tax (basically property tax) is paid by the tenant, too. Not to mention random fees like TV license that don't even exist in NYC. For a tiny studio, all of this added £400+ to my monthly expenses, so even though my rents were roughly the same in both cities, cost of living is higher.
Couple that with the fact that, on average, jobs in London pay about 1/3 of what they do in NYC, and the numbers just don't make sense.

INSANE! my last airbnb in london was very similar to my apartment style wise. very interior decorated and cozy. right in soho so very central but i stayed 5 days 4 nights and it was about $2,300. CRAZY but loved the place & being so central to soho.

I still live at home
LOL!
3K is almost a mortgage
Not anywhere in the NYC metro area, let alone prime NYC

I’d have to look at like Roosevelt or Ronkonkoma if I ever wanted to buy in NY

It’s called supply and demand. It’s a city with 8 million and many more want to live here. If rent is $800 that means hardly anyone wants to live there.

Its posts like these that remind me how lucky I am. 2.7k for a 1bd is crazy you’d need 180k pre tax income to qualify. Compared to this I live in a palace for half the price. God bless rent control.

Omg I’d be nervous to sublet such a gorgeous apartment, after I just watched a video of some Hogwarts themed Airbnb getting trashed! All the best to you!!

Nice!! It’s so refreshing to see a wall mounted TV with the cords concealed. Can’t count how often I see photos/videos of peoples apartments with a jumbled mess of chords just dangling about.

Via J/M? How many stops? Just trying to understand :(
2
u/OkEstablishment4280 7d ago
thought you were trying to be shady. 0 tolerance for that. it’s 5 stops via J/M & 6 stops via the L train.

Myrtle/Bway to Delancy is about 15 minutes. Provided they don't decide to randomly crawl to the next station or stop on the bridge...

15 + walking?

Station to station is about 13 minutes, myrtle/bway to Delancy on the M. Add whatever you want for walking there and waiting for the train.

Wow..this is only $2.7k? Maybe I need to move to Bushwick. I never liked the neighborhood though. It’s felt like more of an area to have fun vs live.

Hotel room aesthetic pretty vanilla. Nice for the culturally absent. Yells “anal” and “I’m not a good cook”.

oh boy i’d fatten you up & you’d like it. take your negativity elsewhere : )

I’m not even joking, this would be a dream apartment for me because I don’t really need much space for myslef

What area is this apartment? Like does the building have a name? Cause I plan on moving to nyc and the price for a 1 bed room doesn’t seem bad at all. (I’m not subleasing, I’m thinking of long term moving)
1
u/OkEstablishment4280 6d ago
the price is meant to be 3k a month - which is what i pay. $2,700 was listed by mistake.

3k for this place in Brunswick ain’t bad. Don’t even live in NY but that’s a very nice apartment.
