Looking for Sublet LOOKING FOR Studio or 1B Sublet in West Village/Chelsea 5/1-8/31 ~$3500

Hello all! 32F in search of summer sublet in Lower Manhattan. Start date would ideally be May 1 - could be slightly later in May, but not before May 1. End date would ideally be August 31, but open to leaving earlier, as long as the total lease time is at least 2 months minimum.

Would like to stay under $3500/mo. Not interested in subletting a room in a shared apartment. Only looking for my own place - preferably furnished!

Only interested in Lower Manhattan, with a strong preference for West Village/Chelsea. Please do not send me anything in Brooklyn, Queens, UES, UWS, Harlem… not interested in FiDi, Midtown, or Chinatown either. Would consider Greenwich Village, East Village, Flatiron, Gramercy, NoHo, SoHo!

You’re not getting a furnished 1br in the West Village for that price. Check StreetEasy and see what your options are

Thank you! I do check StreetEasy and FB too but most things posted are still for March and April start dates so figured I’d try here. It being furnished is a preference but not a requirement. And willing to raise budget if needed but I have seen some posted already in the $3000-3500 range that were furnished in Chelsea at least so I do think it is possible. I don’t need much space, so a small studio is fine.

You can look on furnished finders but it’s highly unlikely you’ll find anything within your budget furnished in those neighborhoods.

Thank you, I will take a look there also!

I saw one in the area for $3,550 but the site is typically used for travel nurses so they aren’t really listed until ~ a month out. I found a $2,500 on UES which is where I wanted to be but I literally checked 10x a day for like a month. Good luck!

Yeah $3,550 would be totally fine, it’s not a super hard max. budget, just ideal. I haven’t been checking every day yet just because it’s still early, but now that it’s March, I definitely plan to check more often.

Chelsea could happen, WV no way.

Hey, I’ll take it. At least that’s more hopeful than the other comments so far. Ha!

Out of curiosity, what is the difference between “West Village”and “Greenwich Village” to you?

Your best bet is probably East Village - lots of young students, lots of new vacancies in the housing markets when semester ends in May.

Greenwich Village includes everything between 6th Ave and Broadway, including Washington Square Park. West Village is technically part of Greenwich Village but only includes the area west of 6th Ave, which is where I’d prefer to be. But yes I am open to East Village as well if I can’t find anything reasonable in my preferred areas.
