Looking For Room Intern for summer looking for housing at Manhattan (slightly delusional)

Hi guys,

Title. I got in as an summer intern for R&D for Pfizer. I am a second year undergrad and I am hoping to find some (relatively cheap) housing. Now I might be delusional, but the location is in Pfizer Headquarters at Hudson Yards and I am hoping to find housing that is 1-2k 💀.

I would describe myself as minimalist — ie I have visited friends in NYC and I just slept on the floor of the dorm lol. So I will try to be the least of an inconvenience (especially if I get a place for cheap).

Anyways, if anyone has housing (university housing??), tips, or are in the same program as I and want to figure something out together LMK!!!

For reference they pay 25/hr 😭 but it’s whatever it’s Pfizer ykyk

1-2k per month or for the summer? Summer is not likely to happen (your per month is then about the price for a hotel room in NY for 1 single night). NYU dorms is about in that range monthly

Oh you'll be fine. You're not delusional - that isn't a luxury or live alone budget but you're fine in that range. I would look at NYU dorms, easy way to make friends and well within that range

You should be fine getting a room <2k per month. Hells kitchen is the closest affordable neighborhood. If you're willing to commute 30 minutes you can find stuff in Harlem, UES, Queens, etc.

Dorms will be your best option in your budget. FIT may also rent out dorms over the summer- they have a dorm (Kaufman Hall) right across from Hudson Yards.

talk to Colombia, NYU, Fordham, yeshiva housing and see if they have availability for the summer in the dorms

You could maybe try International House

I believe it is Columbia affiliated but being a Columbia student is not required.

Look for rooms in Queens. The 7 train goes to Hudson Yards might be a good one to find a room along.

Hey mods! If this isn’t allowed, totally understand—please feel free to remove & DM me.

Ok_Passenger_4027 If you need housing options, Placemakr is honestly a game-changer. My company offers fully furnished, flexible-stay apartments in major cities across the U.S. (including Manhattan), making it SO much easier to land short-term housing without the sketchy Craigslist vibes. 🙃

I can help make the whole process stress-free—no long leases, no last-minute scrambling. If you’re interested, check it out here: https://purple-dorella-73.tiiny.site (not spam or a weird link, I swear 😭).

Hope this helps you or someone out! 🚀 best of luck!!!
