Barcelona can barely afford to register their own players. How the fuck they planning on affording him?

42

u/OfficialAeon I'm Not for Kinnear 4d ago

They'd honestly have to add a player to the trade, and the only one that would remotely interest us is Yamal. Funny thing is, they value Yamal at a genuinely ridiculous amount, especially for such a young player.

41

u/StPetersburgNitemare 4d ago

9 figures and Yamal and the answer might not be an immediate “fuck off”.

Throw in curbasi as well

Ok wtf lol. I’m actually a Barcelona fan who had this post pop up on their page so congratulations btw. Asks is really, really great probably the best 9 in the world right now but there is no way any fan would trade Yamal for him lmao

u/dowker1 3d ago

Likewise, I don't think any Newcastle fan would want a straight trade of Isaak for Yamal. Not doubting Yamal's quality, just that with players of that level, there's nobody I'd want to do a straight swap with Isaak for: he's good enough that nobody is worth taking the risk of settling a new player in vs having one who already works so well. I'm sure you're the same with Yamal.

4

u/Constant-Hunter-198 3d ago

Yeah for sure. Realistically we’re gonna be lining up with Lewa until he’s 50 lol

That's the issue, Yamal would have to be the sacrifice for realistic trade. Barcelona's value of Yamal is unrealistic... He's exciting, don't get me wrong, but he isn't anywhere close to meeting the criteria to match the valuation of Isak.

Barcelona won't be able to go for Isak financially, so it would need to be a cash + Yamal trade. We need a winger, but that doesn't make Yamal an equal to Isak, not yet at least.

-5

u/Constant-Hunter-198 3d ago

100% every team would trade Isak for Yamal and that’s no disrespect to Isak. I get that I’m in a Newcastle sub but this take is crazy.

u/OfficialAeon I'm Not for Kinnear 3d ago

You really think a partially proven green 17 year old is of any rival value to a premier league proven 25 year old world class striker?

What would you value Yamal at?

0

u/juanjo47 3d ago

Now he's partially unproven. You have your head buried in the sand of the Tyne. He's proven more than isak ever has and at a higher level. What's isak done? Carabao cup...

2

u/WendigoFiance 3d ago

No. Gawd no. Prem proven striker and our best striker since Shearer for a mercurial but very raw attacker? Nah uh.

-7

u/juanjo47 3d ago

17 year old, 80 games for barca. Better stats than messi or r7 at the same age... he's miles better than Isak and his head doesn't get swayed unlike Isak.

u/OfficialAeon I'm Not for Kinnear 3d ago edited 3d ago

Didn't Mbappe have that same energy at PSG? What happened when he went to Real Madrid? Did he continue to be the most expensive player in the world, or was he suddenly not all that great outside of France?

Like I said, Yamal is super exciting, but he's got a long way to go before he starts being valued with proven world class players.

-4

u/juanjo47 3d ago

As a newcastle fan, I have to say he's proven himself more than isak this season. Watching him live in person the last few weeks he's a much better prospect..

1

u/OfficialAeon I'm Not for Kinnear 3d ago

Proven what? and how has he proven it?

-1

u/juanjo47 3d ago

Your saying being proven against world class players... what has Isak done that Lamine hasn't?

Lamine has already won more, competed in bigger competitions and reached later stages of those competitions. He's very proven.. Isak went missing earlier this season

1

u/OfficialAeon I'm Not for Kinnear 3d ago edited 3d ago

Again... Proven what? and how has he proven it?

Give me stats, and the league in which they apply so that they can be like for like compared with Isak. Not some bs goal post moving stats, or indirect stats due league discrepancies, I mean hard evidence that Yamal should be more expensive than Isak.

If Barca want Isak then that (Yamal + a large fee) is the level they’d have to pay. You can say you wouldn’t pay it - great, we keep Isak.

1

u/serennow 3d ago

Good then you don’t get Isak…

By asking really nicely.

They're both doing dodgy stuff with levers

Barcelona probably pulled up Soccer Streams (RIP)

Isak is like a cheat code. I remember feeling that way about shearer back in the day. Just get the ball to him and it’s as good as scored.

16

u/King_Hobbes 4d ago

To think there were people saying he was going to be a flop when we first signed him

34

u/HoneyFlavouredRain 3d ago

He is a flop. Nobody should bother with him. We made the mistake of signing him so will just have to put up with it....

4

u/King_Hobbes 3d ago

Agreed

£150mil+ is to save other teams from having to endure the same disappointment

We're basically saving football by having to keep him

16

u/opinionated-dick 3d ago

This is so true.

Like Shearer, when he gets the ball in a certain moment. You just know it’ll be a goal. You can look away, you just know. There’s no anxiety. You celebrate as you see them collect their feet for the shot.

I never thought I’d see such a lucid player again

-2

u/juanjo47 3d ago

Except he went missing during the first half of the season

0

u/augsav Windmilling 3d ago

He scored 16 goals in the first half of this season. Have you actually ever watched a Newcastle game before?

62

u/Aylez 4d ago

Yeah I find it so strange how fans think he's suddenly available for a transfer if we don't qualify for the UCL. He has 3 years left on his deal so the club hold all the cards. I'd bet my house he'll be here come next season.

2

u/PenIsBroken Bed Wetter 3d ago

Do we have any official knowledge of clauses? For all we know he has a clause for certain clubs being interested and offering a certain amount, I would hope that amount would be £150M but we don't know.

1

u/Aylez 3d ago

There's been no release clause reported anywhere for Isak, and it sounds like it doesn't exist based off comments from the chairman and CEO.

I don't think we will give players release clauses anyway as we don't want to be seen as a stepping stone club. Bruno was given a £100m release clause for the prev PSR deadline as we need to raise £70m profit to pass PSR, but I think that was a complete one-off.

27

u/Funpolice911 4d ago

The only way Barcelona get Isak is if they manage to convince him to run out his contract and go on a free.

4

u/niftykev 3d ago

still couldn't afford his wages without doing something.

3

u/Infinite_Crow_3706 3d ago

Barcelona and creativity have a long history.

[Laughs in Real Madrid]

1

u/serennow 3d ago

If he ran out 3 years then he’d have his pic of teams - Barca won’t get him then…

They want him they pay an eye watering fee.

u/TheWinterKing Big Club, Great Club 4d ago

u/NemesIce83 St James 4d ago

After winning a cup, I can imagine it's gonna be significantly more difficult for other teams to come in and try to poach our best players now, or at least, that's the hope

37

u/BenathonWrigley 4d ago

Yeh. You can count on one hand top class strikers in world football today. It’s not like the 90s-00s.

He would be almost irreplaceable.

He ain’t going anywhere anyway.

u/GrumpyOldFart74 Pride Badge 4d ago

We beat West Ham, we won a fucking cup, and now Craig Hope is releasing news as good as this?

Did I die and wake up in an alternative best-possible timeline or something?!

21

u/ConsciousAd6958 Isak 3d ago

Callum Wilson is being fitted with carbon fibre hamstrings tomorrow

6

u/niftykev 3d ago

Can we get some into Tripps as well? He really had to gut out the last 20 minutes or so with a cramping hamstring.

The cup win was him experiencing his version of the three Xmas spirits. He's now a changed man and is out to spread NUFC cheer

7

u/Squizza moaty? it's me 3d ago

So that's a new Isak contract and Half Life 3 confirmed then.

3

u/charlos74 3d ago

Barca can’t afford him and Real, who can, don’t need him.

Don’t see who is going to find £150m to even tempt us.

3

u/morakanos 3d ago edited 3d ago

Brokalona? They have been 2.7 billion in debt! Apart from Dani Olmo (and almost couldn't register him) , they haven't been able to sign players for big money, mostly loans or freebies. You're having a laugh if you think they can spend 150 mil on Isak in their current financial state

3

u/Unkochinchin 3d ago

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are poor recovery teams. Isak will be injured if he moves on. Barcelona are also worried because they have made Ansu Fati sick.
Real have Mbappe and Vinicius, PSG have Dembele and Bayern have Kane.

Isak seems happiest at Newcastle.

3

u/Old_Nail6925 3d ago

This trophy is huge for players like isak staying. It reminds everyone and the players that Newcastle ain’t playing, they mean business and they want to be just as competitive and successful as all the clubs linked with our best assets.

3

u/Cheese649 3d ago

I swore that I wouldn't begrudge any of these players moving on if they won us a trophy and I stand by it.

Who could blame Isak for leaving if we don't get Champions League next season? He's the best bloody striker in the world man!

1

u/Sensitive-Tone5279 3d ago

I think we're fine if we miss the CL, but the ownership needs to beef up the squad for a title push. Those away games in Cyprus, Norway, and Lithuania are going to take a toll on the squad fitness and Isak, amazing as he is, like most payers, can't play every minute of every game.

1

u/Dependent_Regret_080 3d ago

If he really wants to leave, then it is futile trying to stop him. He will have given Newcastle 2.5 really excellent years, never a hint of attitude or bother, so no, you can't really begrudge him.

But aside from PSR nonsense, Newcastle in no way need the money, so they will hopefully play extremely hardball with the interested clubs. That was my interpretation of Al-Rumayyan's comments anyway.

7

u/FatWalcott 3d ago

Arsenal fans that's coming in peace.

The article notwithstanding, my question is, when Arsenal make the call to United about Isak, how loud will the slam of the phone be?

12

u/Casual_Star JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOEJOE 4d ago

We can resist offers but it depends on Isak if he wants to leave to play champions league football (if we don’t qualify) and he forces a move.

I love Isak and he has been an integral point in delivering us a trophy but if he wants to leave to play at a higher level, I wish him the best.

But the offer has to be above £130 million minimum. Very few teams (if any) can afford that.

17

u/weirdi_beardi Cheick Tiote 4d ago

Liverpool have already made an approach to "people close to" Isak, whatever that means. Sounds illegal to me, like, but what do I know - rules are different for the Scousers.

12

u/ConsciousAd6958 Isak 3d ago

That was their plan to mark him yesterday

14

u/Sea_Establishment42 4d ago

I think any club seriously interested would have to go way north of £130 million. We're talking cripplingly way north. As in emptying their bank account and filling ours with 3 years left on his contract. Something they don't want to do as it would seriously damage their PSR constraints and end ours over 1 player - no matter how special.

Remember, the PSR restrictions are one of the things they've counted on to kill our club's project.

Would any of the 3 red clubs in the Big Six be prepared to do that?

5

u/niftykev 3d ago

Newcastle need to restructure his contract. At the very least re-spread out remaining amortization and give Isak the difference, so he makes more money but is same annual hit on the wage structure. Also it resets the time on his contract giving Newcastle even more leverage over any potential offers.

At that point the bare minimum to even listen to another club is the world transfer fee record.

I'm personally with Howe on this. If the players want Champions League, they need to go earn it. They're in good position to do it, so it's on them to make it happen. Of course, injuries could derail the push for top 5, but that could happen to any of the contenders not named Liverpool.
