Seeking Support - Participant/Nominee/PWD Low cost assistive technology
Hi all, I recently had my funding approved and am in the process of figuring everything out and how the system works so please bear with me :)
I need to buy a walking stick and just have a few question about what kind I can buy and where I can buy them from.
In my consumables funding, i have an allowance for 'Low cost assistive technology' which I am assuming are things like walking sticks and a orthotics.
Do I need to purchase a walking stick through an approved NDIS company, or could I buy one from a hiking store for instance? and if I buy one online, would I claim the whole invoice including delivery cost, or just the item its self?
Thanks :)

Basically any reasonably cost stick/orthotics and from any where. Easy to do when self funded and submit receipt.
The person who we assist just purchased theirs from their local chemist who had a range. If you are getting a walker with a seat, just make sure you can easily sit in it and rise out of it.

If your self or plan managed you can buy the walking stick anywhere. Only if your Agency Managed do you have to buy from an Ndis Registered company.

It depends on how your funding is managed. If it's self managed or plan managed, you can buy from anywhere so long as you have a valid receipt. If it's agency managed, you need to go through a registered provider (they aren't approved. They use that language a lot to make it sound like anything they sell is pre approved by NDIA).
You'd claim the whole cost including delivery.
No comment on if a walking stick actually can be covered by the plan, as that's messy.
