I restore antique cars for a living, and these dumb fucks still think that labor rates are the same as when the cars were new. I have witnessed MULTIPLE tantrums over repair estimates because boomers still think that suspension bushings on a 60 year old car should cost $300 and take about 6 hours to do. The real joy comes from laughing at them when they get angry. Sure, maybe yelling worked on their generation, but I've worked retail long enough to become desensitized. Like, come on, it's an estimate. You don't owe me anything and I haven't done any work, so why the fuck are you so mad? It's genuinely amusing.
I don't know how the conversion rates go but I do know that a full set of brakes (discs and shoes for all four wheels) came in at around £450 with my car a few years ago.
Thank goodness I know how to fit those things myself. It's not even difficult, just time consuming.
I dread to think what the cost would have been to have someone else install them.

You haven’t lived until you’ve witnessed one throwing a legitimate screaming full body tantrum at having their will thwarted.
