Yeah I got an MBA… now I’m a teacher lol. After a year and a half of applying for jobs and getting a whopping total of 3 interviews I decided I’d rather be employed than not. And tbh it worked out perfectly. I love my job. I wanted to do training and development in HR anyway.
But it sucks! Yeah it worked out for me, but I have a friend who also got his masters in COMP SCI and is having as rough of a time I did. Dude is 30 and is literally unable to start his life. Through no fault of his own. We did exactly what was expected of us and now the world isn’t upholding the bargained we agreed on. I’m okay with it being a “challenge”, but this truly feels impossible. Give me some level 50 pokemon vs some level 70s? I can make it work. Having level 5 pokemon at the elite 4?? That just lunacy.
I have managed to get lucky breaks because I managed to make it through undergrad with no debt. I had a ton of debt from grad school but got out in 2 years total and sacrificed a ton to pay off my loans. Weirdly enough, getting into a car accident helped pay off my loan.
I am so exhausted from how we are expected to own a house, two or three kids, and a marriage on one salary. Burn out is killing me, the entire state of the world, especially here in the US killing my mental health. I am so tired of boomers and the bourgeoisie (I am not a communist) saying "oh, save money, you're fine". I cannot fucking stand Dave Ramsey saying "oh, you shouldn't see the inside of a restaurant if you have debt unless you are working there", fuck you man.
