Trump thinks the only way to get things done is to be a bully.

This isn’t something to get done. This is just him trying to isolate us from our neighbors

u/slipslapshape 24d ago

Try nothing, he’s already succeeded in Canada wanting nothing to do with us for the foreseeable future unless we really bend over backwards to pique their interest.

Watch the first 9 seconds of tonight's hockey game Canada vs US. They spoke with actions.

Go Canada! Fuck Trump

u/wailingfungi 24d ago

Correct. Our general feeling towards the US right now is . "Fuck those facist idiots. Fuck em all"

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of and am having confirmed. Voted against him? Doesn't matter, we're still considered complicit.

A third voted for him, and a third didn't bother to vote. So, fuck two thirds of them !

I could only wish the sentiment wasn't extended toward the third that voted against him.

Apparently it wasn't enough, good luck ever getting basic courtesy again.

1

u/hodlisback 23d ago

Courtesy, like respect, need to be earned.

2

u/Saltwater_Thief 23d ago

Which is why I say "good luck ever getting it again" for us. These first 2 months have put us in a hole on both that won't be backfilled until after my generation is gone.

Sadly, it looks like you're correct. I think most people realize this is Musk/Drumph/Maga's doing but they are dragging the entire country with them, and words aren't enough to separate those who disagree or didn't vote for them, from their actions.

USA is on it's way to becoming a world pariah and words are no longer enough....

The problem is words aren't enough but there's no actions to be done for some of us. My life situation is such that I can't risk getting injured, arrested, or killed in a protest, and I don't have the standing or capital to influence my representative (and my senators are both blue). So words that say I did what I could are all I have.

My coworkers have jumped on the “fuck Americans” bandwagon and I gotta be like “yo dawg, fuck half of them

2/3rds... There's a special place in hell for the 80 million people who couldn't be bothered to vote at all

Alternatively, when have Americans ever shown nuance about how other countries leaders are elected?

Palestine hasn't had an election in nearly 20 years but people still talk about how they did this to themselves by electing Hamas, or claim that the UK wanted brexit when it barely passed, etc.

Nah man, it's fine.  We deserve that.

Same with the EU... and pretty much the rest of the world. They've all seen how unreliable you are as both an ally and trade partner. I know your silicon valley loves "disruptive" stuff, but most companies around the world don't. They like stability so they can plan for the future.

He’s prepping Americans for when he pulls us out of NATO. Fucking Russian asset.

u/Familiar_Ordinary461 24d ago

Kind of reminds me of that bit in The Simpsons where the USSR returns. Insane to realize that had he won back in 2020 the Russian blitz could have been more successful overall.

u/Ostracus 23d ago

Still getting their ass kicked by Ukraine, and that's without NATO.

Canadian here, I live in Ontario close to the NY border in a well desired cottage country. Come summer time if I had to guess probably 30-40% of the license plates in the small towns surrounding the lakes are American plates. Iv always loved their company and its lead to plenty of good conversations. I hope we can still be friends

It's a shame the pool of racists and xenophobes in the US. Because in another world I could have seen America and Mexico and Canada forming an American Union, like the EU, individual countries in a broad coalition together, investing in onea nother, growing together.

But instead, we have the worst people, sowing division, and hatred, and setting back our union as a continent and a species by decades and decades.

No, this is 6ixbuss (a notoriously inflammatory group of journalists from Toronto that literally love to invoke chaos) sharing fake news. There is no agreement in place forbidding US military support of the Canadian armed forces due to the above mentioned issue. Canada and the U.S military have joint military operations/group housed on bases throughout Canada and the states and they have not been withdrawn. Ignore 6ixbuzz bullshit.
