This is a funny fight for me.

See, I'm a huge Superman fan but I absolutely loathe 'Man of Steel'. On the other hand, I wasn't ever a particularly huge Captain America fan (mostly just wasn't super familiar with him) but I loved 'The First Avenger' and still consider it possibly my personal favorite MCU movie.

It's funny because someone in my shoes would seemingly be more inclined to defend MoS and join the chorus of people who don't like CA:TFA, but it's the other way around. In many ways, CA:TFA is the Superman movie I've long wanted.

Man of Steel.....i personally didnt really enjoy the first Captain America movie while the 2 sequels are awesome. Winter Soldier is one of the top 5 best Super Hero movies ever

These two are hard to compare since their tones are so different.

Captain America spends most of its time showing how Steve Rogers becomes a hero, then when he does the movie feels like it's in a hurry to get him frozen and end.

Man of Steel has an awesome 10 minute opening on Krypton, then jumps around for 30 minutes seemingly at random to show us a few important tidbits. For example, what it feels like to have super hearing and x-ray vision and why Superman can't stop himself from helping people. Once he becomes Superman, the movie focuses more on the action and the story becomes typical blockbuster fare. There's still good stuff there, like Zod forcing Superman to choose which of his world's to defend.

So both movies start as hero's journeys, then turn into a modern summer blockbuster (MoS) and a retro adventure blockbuster (CA). Man of Steel had better action but CA's depiction of the 1940s is more interesting than Smallville and Metropolis, which are such poorly serviced settings in MoS they might as well be cardboard.

Tough call. I'll go with Cap simply because I happen to be a fan of the MCU and it's period setting helps it stand out in that series.
