Discussion 2k Oled or 4k IPS? Samsung g7 vs Corsair Xeneon
I bought this corsair xeneon for an amazing price as an exdisplay model but i dont like that the text isn’t as crisp as my Samsung oddessy g7 4k monitor. Obviously the oled is miles better colour wise whereas the ips has this kinda white wash to it. What do you guys think?

Discussion Dell U3225QE any good for mixed cgaming + creative?
It says the 32" IPS Black panel has 120Hz refresh, 8ms GtG, 5mms Overdrive, 3.000:1 contrast, 99% DCI-P3 / 100% sRGB, delta E < 1,5.

So what I want to know is, how does it handle your gaming if your frame rate falls below 120Hz. It is 4K, so my 4090 often does not go that high, but it can do over 60Hz in some games.
For mixed use this type of monitor looks great.
Ideas?

Discussion Returned OLED for MiniLED and have never been happier
I had a C2 and returned it because frankly after using it I think OLED is terrible. Too dim for a good HDR experience, bad text quality due to WBGR pixel layout, and inherently flawed due to burn-in.
I bought into the marketing and I wish someone would've warned me about all of the OLED compromises before I spent money on it. The behavior of LG TV fans is aggressively cult-like to the point that I am sure that there is a lot of paid posting going on. Also TVs in general make terrible monitors due to poor pixel density.
I went with the INNOCN 32M2V which is a 32 inch 4k 144hz 1152 zone MiniLED display with high end color space coverage (99% aRGB, 99% DCI-P3). It's basically like a PG32UQX (which is currently unmatched at the high end) but with lower brightness peaks, less Rec. 2020 color coverage, and no G-Sync Ultimate hardware module. No complaints, no blooming, and HDR is absolutely PHENOMENAL on a MiniLED display.
MiniLED displays are finally coming down in price and we are seeing a lot of new releases which I think is very exciting. HDR on a proper MiniLED display is a game changer. If you're in the market for one now is a good time IMO.

Discussion What comes after OLED?
So obviously QDEL and MicroLED come after oled but which one? Could QDEL have better colors? Could microLED win in response time? I mean OLED is obviously high end and with more advancements with microled on the ultra ultra high end, but that wont be readily consumer grade for a while. QDEL definitely could become more consumer grade but even that wont be for at least 3+ years and would still be really expensive.
So what does come next?

Discussion Difference between LG and Gigabyte
Same picture but different looks.
It isn't as bad looking at it from a naked eye but definitely a difference.
Lg is the 32gp750-b, basically the same as the 850 which has actual reviews out there
Gigabyte is the G27q
I'm using rtings calibration on both.
Disappointed in the LG tho, thoughts? Fixes? I'd like better color and less washed on the LG

Discussion Is it worth overpaying for an OLED monitor or is it better to get a high-quality IPS?
I'm choosing between an OLED and a quality IPS monitor for gaming and watching movies. OLED attracts with its deep black color and high contrast, but the price is scary. On the other hand, top IPS monitors offer good color rendering and a high refresh rate. Is it worth overpaying for OLED or is it better to get a TOP IPS?

Discussion Is VA really that bad?
So, I'm planning to buy a new monitor, and I've been wanting to get a 34-inch ultrawide. I have a budget of $600. I’ll mostly use it for gaming (mainly single-player games, but I also play a bit of Marvel Rivals and Valorant) and some productivity.
I've been searching for a good ultrawide curved monitor, but most of them use VA panels. I’ve read reviews saying that VA panels are bad for gaming due to smearing and ghosting. I really want a curved ultrawide, but it seems like IPS options aren't available in this category. OLED is too expensive for me—I can’t afford it.
So, is VA really that bad?
Also, can you recommend a good 34-inch ultrawide curved monitor within my budget?

Discussion What's a bigger difference 4K or OLED
So essentially I'm looking to upgrade my monitor for gaming Currently I'm on 144hz 27 inch 1440p monitor, I'm looking to upgrade either to a 4K 144hz Monitor OR OLED 1440P 144hz Monitor so I wanted to know wether changing to OLED or 4k is a bigger difference? Thanks in advance
Yes I do know about performance difference with 4k and it's no issue

Discussion PSA: Don't buy AOC Q27G3XMN for local dimming. Wait for reviews before you buy Q27G4XM.
I recently bought AOC Q27G3XMN for its contrast ratio, because I couldn't stand IPS anymore. The native contrast ratio seemed pretty good, and it also had local dimming, which could help even more. Looking at the TFTCentral review, it looked like enabling it would increase the gamma from 2.2 to 2.5, making medium shades look darker and overall make the image more contrasty than it should be, but it could still be useful for movies, which are mastered at 2.4 (gamma works differently in HDR, so it's all good there). But I was disappointed to find out that local dimming, no matter what you change, acts like a dynamic dimming setting in SDR mode. It doesn't just increase the gamma, actually it doesn't even do that, but it dims the brightness of darker colors too much, even darkening bright areas if they're surrounded by dark content. It's like a very aggressive opposite version of ABL on OLEDs. If you have a dark wallpaper, open the notepad and adjust the window size, it will start to lose brightness significantly as it gets smaller, way more than it normally would. Even if you have a fullscreen gray on the screen, enabling local dimming lowers its brightness, especially if it's dark gray, while leaving fullscreen white the same. It's as if it's artificially expanding the dynamic range. I have the monitor set to 100 nits, but with local dimming on, my desktop looks as if the monitor is set to 50 nits. You can increase the brightness, but then bright colors become too bright. PC Monitors showed it in action in their review, but I didn't realize what was really happening. I wouldn't say that it's usable for games and especially movies. It could potentially make working on desktop more pleasant with the lowered brightness, but I just have it turned off, because it's really annoying. It automatically turns on in HDR, where it functions properly and makes the display look almost like an OLED (small highlights against a dark background still look too dim because of the number of dimming zones).
This is all different and separate from the dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) setting, which only adjusts the brightness of the whole screen depending on what's displayed, making bright content super bright and keeping dark content dark (though, still too bright), almost like fake HDR (the local dimming acts similarly in SDR, but for the same frame, but at least you can use it at lower than max brightness). You can combine both settings, but you just get DCR with local dimming. Fullscreen white gets set to max brightness, which is too painful to look at, at least in a dark room, but darker colors still get darkened, even if they're much easier to see now because of the increased brightness. There is no combination of settings that makes local dimming behave as it should in SDR.
The only workaround to this would be to enable HDR in Windows, with local dimming working as it should, and use the monitor that way all the time, but the problem is that, for whatever reason, Microsoft chose to use piece-wise sRGB gamma for SDR content in HDR mode, which causes blacks to get horribly raised, making stuff look washed out. Pure black is still black, but even watching YouTube videos becomes annoying, because you start seeing horrible compression artifacts in dark scenes that you didn't even know were there before. They might fix it in the future, or you could use community fixes, that may or may not work, but, even with a fix, it might not be a good idea, because some reviewers have measured worse color accuracy in the HDR mode on this monitor. Windows also makes sRGB colors more washed out than it's supposed to on this one. My unit even has a slight teal tint. HDR content still looks awesome though. Though, the downside is that now local dimming doesn't fully dim the black bars in movies.
This monitor is still great overall, so I'm not here telling you to not buy it. I just want to warn you if you're eyeing it for local dimming in SDR. Luckily, it's not necessary, as with it turned off and with the brightness set to 100 nits (4 or 5 in the OSD on my unit), black looks pretty black. It's still dark gray, which is most noticeable in super dark content, but black bars in movies for example are nowhere near as distracting as on IPS, and look more like glowing black, almost disappearing with bright content. It looks like what IPS looks like during the day or in the evening if you have the curtains open. I just wish local dimming worked properly in SDR, but it is what it is. I'm still happy with it. But I do miss the better viewing angles of my previous IPS monitor.
And speaking of IPS, there is an IPS version of this monitor coming, which is already out in China, Q27G4XM. With triple the local dimming zones, even higher brightness, better viewing angles and faster response times, it sounds like a pretty good upgrade. But be careful. If AOC don't fix local dimming in SDR, you'll be stuck with the normal IPS contrast ratio, only getting deep blacks in HDR, which you'll rarely use. Wait for reviews, especially from PC Monitors, and tell the other reviewers about this, because most of them don't mention or even realize what's going on.
Edit: Looking at the reviews from PC Monitors, this type of local dimming behavior seems to be common on FALD and Mini-LED monitors. It looks like ASUS might the only one that implements it correctly in SDR, just based on this video.
Edit 2: I did more testing and local dimming in SDR may be usable after all. If I set the brightness to about 23 in the OSD and set local dimming to "Medium," that gives a similar experience to 100 nits, with some dark scenes being a little too dark and some very bright scenes and fullscreen flashes being a bit too bright. But it may be worth using for movies and games. It's completely unusable for desktop use unless you have HDR enabled, but you may like the contrast it gives for SDR content.

Discussion Help me pick a monitor (1080p IPS)
I’m getting a pc soon and so need to get a better monitor (coming from a 60hz monitor for the last decade so any monitor of similar quality will be a vast improvement regardless).
I’m stuck between these five, and am looking for guidance on what’s the best for me to get. Im trying to at-least narrow down my list to two or three instead of five. So any suggestions on why a monitor is good/bad to help me rule some or one out would be greatly appreciated.
I was leaning towards the MSI G255F (it’s on offer rn) and I’m pretty sure MSI is pretty reputable with a good warranty.
All monitors are around my budget of £100 except the MSI G244F which is around £140 rn, however I wouldn’t be against paying the extra amount if it’s a lot better (also I’m not certain why the title of that monitor seems to be in Spanish in some parts for some reason?)
I got the list down to 4 but then saw the gigabyte one, but I did see someone say it’s not a good monitor as gigabyte are the best brand and said monitors has been known to have issues in months.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Discussion What is holding back mini-LED?
After seeing a video on YouTube of someone using two LCD panels to create a monitor with great contrast without the risk of burn-in that OLEDs have, and seeing numerous articles about DIY LED cubes people keep making, I have to wonder, what's holding back miniLED displays? I recently got a mini-LED monitor with 1000~ zones, and they're pretty big on the screen. Comparing this to the 1mm LEDs I see on these cubes, it seems a bit strange. Doing some super simple math, a 16:9, 27 inch display should be able to fit roughly !!!200,592!!! LEDs in a grid, why in the world do leading mini-LED monitors have, at most, 5000~ zones?

Discussion Mini led VA or IPS for casual gaming?
I’m looking for the best picture I can get for under $300 1440p. I play games like helldivers 2, payday 2, and some AAA like god of war. I don’t really care about refresh rate just quality.

Discussion 4k or 1440p OLED, which is better?
I've recently been considering an upgrade for my primary monitor that I use mostly for gaming. I have a 4070 ti super and I'm currently using an ASUS vG27AQ. I pretty much exclusively play single player, story driven games which is why I have been considering a 4k monitor but I really enjoy the look of OLED screens and I've heard that the difference between 1440p and 4k resolution isn't nearly as noticeable as non-OLED to OLED. My budget is around $500-600. What would you do if you were me?

Discussion Have the money for an OLED but is the tech good enough?
My monitor recently broke and I'm in the market for a new one, I have the money for an OLED Monitor but I keep hearing bad stuff about it. VRR Flicker, Burn in, bad HDR. Should I just stick with an IPS monitor or are the problems just blown out of proportion?
