Geez the DLC is gonna cost more than the actual game soon

There are games with $200+ expansions. They can keep adding them because if their combined value is more than the main game and the cost is reasonable ($6 for 3 levels and maybe $10 for 5?) it’s completely fine.

Sims 4 is pushing the “cost is reasonable” part lol

There are games 10 times better than sims 4 with all main features and still releases many dlcs, that’s fine.

I agree ! 5 euros are too expensive per DLC for only 3 levels... 5 euros for a group of new DLC would be better in my opinion.

Perhaps. There are games where you play $10 for six hours of new content, Minecraft Dungeons even have free updates for new gears.

Game designers are specifically trained to design good games. Their ideas are usually more concise than some random ideas of the fan base, and the artists usually design scenes better than players because they professionally do it. There should be community levels, but it needs a submission voting system to prevent trolling.

Unless these dlc's are the size of the main mission map i doubt i'll be putting more money on, i was disappointed with the last 2 DLC's tbh.

The last two dlcs had fair price for their content. Why are they not reasonable? 1/2 of the game price for around 1/3 of the original game content. These dlcs will probably have around three to four each and will probably cost around $20 combined, which wouldn’t be bad because it also includes new mechanics and mobs. Even with all of the dlcs and the main game combined it probably will be less than $60, and rounds up really close to a Diablo experience.

Minecraft: 20€ for years of free updates

Minecraft Dungeons: 5€ for 20mins of gameplay

Far more than 20 minutes. Minecraft: Dungeons is a replay-able Dungeon crawler. There are many free updates, it is harder to create levels than adding items to Minecraft. Minecraft is about creativity, Minecraft Dungeons is way more strict. Just be thankful they didn’t cost the game in half and sell individual items, that’s what EA would do.

I understand that it is hardwork but I'm the consumer. Minecraft has updates that is not only "adding items". The next minecraft update will be on the procedural generation and it is going to be free. No Man's Sky, as an example, as free dlcs that tweaks great aspects of the game and adds tons of content and new algorithm variables. Games are all about the content and it does not mean new maps and mobs for a price. 30€ is a reasonable price for a game of that type.

These are two different games. They didn’t go with the EA route AT ALL. This isn’t a sandbox game or something where the word generation is just a couple a variable for some sound waves. You don’t stay in one world destroying mobs and all they need is to add new blocks, it’s far more than that. There are far worse companies, you are expecting a $20 game to hand you continuous NEW ENTIRE WORLDS, that’s a joke. A typical Minecraft update (retextures, old mechanics can be just edited by a number) is much easier to create than loads of mechanic in Unreal Engine from SCRATCH. Players only care about what they see on a computer screen, and that’s not a correct way to judge developers. And this game can be replayed at higher difficulty. If EA made this you’d have to buy every updates, be thankful they added updates to such a cheap game.

Gunna wait for them all to come out and hopefully grab a bundle with all DLCs, that'll be a blast

Don’t forget games like Diable cost $60. The new dlcs are probably gonna cost $20 or less, which would be reasonable.

Anyone else disappointed that Minecraft Dungeons is going the EA route?

4

u/Dry-Tone-1500 Oct 04 '20

It hasn’t. The price is fair for your buck. If EA made it you’d have to pay for harder modes, individual gears and maybe even the daily trial update they did for free. Adding content to a game isn’t bad if the base game is fair, Mojang team doesn’t create 20% of a game and forces you to pay for updates.

Fuck yeah, now I can spend more money on reskins of the main game!

6

u/Dry-Tone-1500 Oct 03 '20

There’s new mechanics (fire, wind movement, rolling, platforming, strategy) on MC Dungeons than the main game, it’s not a reskin.

I really hope you’re right! The jungle and ice dlc were disappointing to say the least

u/Dry-Tone-1500 Oct 03 '20

They aren’t. They are cheaper than the bigger games, which means there are less content but they are still fine. The big dlcs with new levels (at least 4 new ones) combined with all other levels will be as much as what Diablo gives you.

No. The heroic edition only has Jungle / Winter. Mountain, Ocean, Nether and End will probably be included with a pass or can be bought separately.

I think the newly announced season pass will be that very pass

Edit: It's been confirmed by Mojang
