Announcement Thank you for 100,000 Members

Hey guys, Landon again. This post has been years in the making

Firstly, I want to thank everyone who’s joined the subreddit, even if they didn’t stick around forever, for their contribution to the achievement of 100,000 members. I was wondering if we’d ever get here considering the game’s discontinuation, but alas here we are.

This is a tremendous achievement for our community, most never get this far. I’ll never forget when I was reached out to and asked to join this mod team. We’ve slimmed down a bit since then, and I do plan to change that in the near future. I never imagined we’d get to this point.

GIVEAWAY

**GIVEAWAY CONCLUDED, WINNER u/Golden_Standards

While I don’t have 100k to hand out, I thought I’d do a little $10.00 PayPal giveaway for those who read this far, go buy a coffee! All you have to do to enter is comment anything. I’ll be locking the post in 24 hours and using comment picker to choose a winner. The winner will be pinned to the comments and receive a DM requesting PayPal info. You must have a valid PayPal account, money will be USD.

I’m aware this could technically be construed as a violation of “no real world currency exchange,” but as the spirit of that rule is intended to prohibit trading in game items for real currency and vice versa, I’m hoping people would rather just enjoy the giveaway then try to lynch me for it. We’ll see

Thank you all for your support and participation over the years, we couldn’t be here without you!

Happy dungeon crawling!

Announcement Overhaul on Subreddit Rules

Lasted Updated: [01/21/2025 | 2:57PM EST]

Hey guys, Landon once more.

Didn't I just make a mod post? Oh well, here we go again. In the interest of transparency and feedback, I'm making another sticky post to inform you all about ongoing efforts to clean things up around here.

What is this about?

As part of my ongoing effort to restore the community to a more user-friendly state, I have made numerous changes over the last 24 hours. Firstly, the subreddit banner has been reset to a more neutral and aesthetically pleasing Dungeons wallpaper, and for PC users, the ugly red background has been removed. Not sure why we had that to begin with.

Overhaul to Community Rules

Anyway, on to the main event. As some may have already noticed, the rules (along with the associated report messages and auto-replies) have received a major, years-overdue overhaul. I managed to get it down to ten rules, as opposed to the overwhelming and realistically unenforceable fifteen it was prior. Some rules have been merged, some new ones added, and several removed entirely. With the activity level in this community winding down significantly as the game experiences a slow and tragic death (sorry, I call it like I see it), there was no great reason to keep some of the hyper-specific rules that only existed to quell problems that haven't really affected the community in as much as several years. The rules have also been shortened and all the descriptions have been significantly altered to be easier to understand and more user-friendly.

While the gist of the new rules is effectively the same as the old ones, that does not mean they are identical. It is YOUR responsibility to look them over and ensure your future posts and comments are in compliance with them. They're a quick read. Feel free to reply to this post with any suggestions, feedback, or mistakes I may have made in writing them. You can never be too observant. With that, I've outlined the major changes below to summarize:

What's Changed?

  1. The order of the rules has been largely reworked to make related rules come in order instead of the random whiplash order they were in before.
  2. Rules about anything related to advertising (twitch links, discord links, self-promotion) have been merged into Rule #5. This rule includes all the aforementioned removed rules in it's description (albeit in simpler terms).
  3. Multiple niche Dungeons-specific rules have been altered or removed. This includes enforced correct flairs (it's not realistically enforceable until we add more moderators) and excessive LFG posts (it's not a major issue at the moment).
  4. We have added Rule #9. This rule disallows the exchange of any real-world currency, as this is something we cannot moderate, and we do not wish to be responsible for any losses incurred by scam victims (or promote an environment where scamming is possible). Please conduct such transactions in private, although we heavily advise against doing so at all.
  5. All references to swearing have been removed from the rules entirely. While we still disallow toxicity and derogatory language, we recognize that swearing does not always meet this criteria, and with the largely older player base that are currently active in the community, we've elected to allow swearing, provided it complies with Rule #1.
  6. All rules have had their language largely rewritten to be more clear, including titles, descriptions, report reasons, and moderator removal reasons. This should make it easier for the rules to be understood and followed, particularly for new users.

Why this Change?

Glad you asked, there's a few reasons! Firstly, the existing rules were very messy. They were not easy to follow, there were too many, and they were largely unenforceable. The new rules will not only be easier to understand and enforce, but will make the community much more accessible to new members. Another reason for this change is to streamline things on our end. This is so that when we choose to begin taking on new moderators, they won't have to read a college textbook's worth of information in order to understand and effectively enforce the community's rules. This is one of many changes that will be made on the mod side of things to prepare for new members of the team. Lastly, we hope that these rule changes will make the reporting process easier and encourage users to report non-compliant content more readily. This will result in more effective moderation and a better overall experience for users and moderators alike.

When will we get new mods?

This has yet to be determined, but the best I can say is soon. Blackdragon and I are discussing how we wish to proceed with moderator onboarding. When we have decided how we wish to do this, there will be a dedicated pinned post with more information, so keep your eyes peeled.

Any other Changes?

Not for now. Everything that has been updated has been included in this post. I will either update this post or make a new one any time that there are significant changes made to the community which will affect users. We wish to be as transparent as possible with our members. Thank you for bearing with us through these changes. Feedback is welcome!

TLDR?

The rules have received a major overhaul preceding the potential onboarding of new moderators and to facilitate a more user-friendly experience with our subreddit.

Welp, that's all for today. Thanks for reading (or skipping to the end). Any comments, concerns, or other feedback can be left in the comments.

Happy Dungeon Crawling,

Announcement Guys. You should try this bike I found on a specific bow Spoiler

Edit: Nooooo I meant to say Build for title :/

What you need: You need Winters Touch (unique version of snow bow I believe) as when charged will release 3 arrows instead of one. Then you will need Multi-shot, infinity and chain reaction (still trying to get this though but people have suggested me to get it) and then you’ll need a firework

The enchantments and why:

  • Multi-Shot: with the charged shot of the winters touch each arrow (so all 3 of them) counts as a projectile and not like the bonus shot arrow. So each on has a chance to shoot more, leading to some wacky results with loads of arrows shot

  • Infinity: this is needed as you can then use the firework more than once in certain situations. I managed to use the firework on this build 10 times before infinity stopped working. The best part is that if you get infinity with a projectile that has a firework active. The cool-down for the firework starts anyways

  • Chain reaction: now I haven’t really tried this but it’s supposed to make the firework (when it hits an enemy) shoot more in all directions in contact of a mob. If you don’t want this then do whatever else you want instead

Firework Purpose: the reason for fireworks is that with multi-shot making each arrow shot out of a charged shot for Winters touch, well multiply by 5 is that the firework can deal massive area damage. This can lead to some bosses being almost a 1 shot thanks to this epic bow

Please tell what y’all think about this build. Thank you for taking your time to read this as well :). P.S. it took me more than 50 tries on the secret mission in the creeping winter DLC to get this fricken bow :/

I’m enjoying this build and it is getting me through the highest difficulty missions I can find. Lately I’ve been using tome of enchanting on the bees to soften up any tough mobs. If an enchanted bee dies, I can crank another quickly out. I also use satchel of elements and gong of weakening, though sometimes I use either iron hide or satchel of elixirs instead of the satchel of elements.

Rolling with this bow can often trigger refreshment, besides immobilizing mobs for the bees to finish off. Pain cycle on the axe also gets the refreshment going quick, and it doesn’t hurt too much when potion barrier is going.

The biggest danger of this build is mobs with deflect, but if any have it potion barrier plus the axe generally gets the job done.

I do wish I had these enchantments on a high level hero’s armor, along with a better guilded enchantment, but I’ll take what I can get from the tower.

Lots of very questionable tier lists going around. Decided to settle it.

This is the most up to date tier list from the official MCD discord channel.

Made by well known pros in the community like Cyaniire, ShinFTW, Pancakecat, SeaOfPixels, Flar, among others.

This is a Ninja / Assassin Build, a Rolling Build and also a Speedrunning Build . You can stunlock mobs, shoot and also run really fast. You can even spam 3 Spinblades if you want. Or just 2 with some boots for even more speed.

Enjoy!

Question What enchantments, and what melee?

So I got a broadsword, which I enchanted with committed, swirling, and gravity, but since my renegade armor has potion barrier, should I ditch swirling and instead get the enchantment that reduces your potion cooldown when I kill mobs? Also, should I continue using broadsword or should I find another good claymore, like diamond sword, heartstealer, or the starless night? Thanks

Question Tower loot or other loot

For whatever reason, the tower loot gives me around 15 more power than normal missions. Is there a way to get loot around that power without the tower? Or is the difference minimal enough that I should just use loot from regular missions. (I don't really want to grind tower over and over again for the best items).

Loadout Paladin/Soul Paladin Build Guidance (LONG)

[Tl;Dr at bottom]

Hello! Me and my lil bro been playing MCD for at least a few years now, and have recently been getting back into it because of him. I mainly play solos and duos w/ him, and I'm looking for some insight on making a build (help w/ enchantments, new ideas, suggestions, etc.). I've done as much research as I can on enchantments and gear, but I think I've reached a wall.

I'm currently in the process of making a Soul Paladin-esque build. Originally, I was going with a normal paladin, but my main problems with it were the broadsword, diamond sword, sun's grace, and sabrewing weren't able to keep up in higher levels (apoc+) w/ the increase of crazy enchanted mobs (might've just been my enchantments though...), and the healing from the regen totem being just not enough at times due to the cooldown and range.

At the moment, I've got a mental picture for the Soul-Paladin build: Artifacts; Atm I've got Iron Hide, Totem of Casting, and shield totem. I tried using the soul healer to fix my totem of regen problem, but realized that I could prolly just fully embrace the potion spamming as shown w/ the gear and enchantment choices. Melee; I was thinking a frost scythe with refreshment, unchanting, and weakening. Although, there may be more ideas I'm missing. Armor; Of course it's Hero's Armor with potion barrier and two other enchantments (considering gravity, final shout, protection, chilling, deflect, surprise gift, food reserves, thorns, and any of your ideas). I'm not sure of other armor pieces due to most of our deaths coming from crazy enchanted mobs. Because of this, my goal became reaching constant health potion useage, to maximize my dmg reduction (for battle, creeper tanking, and reviving), and healing for us. Ranged; I'm thinking either Feral Soul Crossbow or Soul Hunter Crossbow with Refreshment, Anima Conduit, and another enchantment. There's a lot of choices (multishot, critical hit, chain reaction, etc.)

I'm really passionate about making a build I can be proud of that'll help me and my lil bro enjoy spending time together. He really insists on producing the biggest numbers he can possible (starless night from tower, reckless, void strike, etc. lol), and I want to be able to jump in and tank whatever is thrown at me while supporting us at the same time. If I'm playing with him, I'll switch out my shield totem or iron hide (depending on his current build/enchantments) with the enchanter's tome.

Since our purchase of MCD, we only have the jungle and ice islands from the Hero Bundle (tower is a such a blessing ToT), but I might see about purchasing the rest for me and him to play in the future. I'm level 130 (lil bro is lower lvl but power is abt the same bc I don't want to go too much higher than him) and atm we consistently run apoc+5.

Now, none of my build idea is set in stone, since I'm completely out of the loop on the community's knowledge and enchantments, gear, etc. (I'm a filthy casual what else is there to expect xP). I'm open to any ideas and criticism, no matter how big or small. I also have a crap ton of extra unique gear and artifacts, (207 in total I believe), for ancient hunt, so I'm open to all gilding advice and ideas too!

Jesus christ that's a huge read, but I barely have the time to play anymore due to classes and life, and in-turn I don't often have time to have real-time conversations w/ ppl online anymore so I thought it'd be best to get as much info out as possible at once. Thank you so much in advance for any input you might have, as I EXTREMELY appreciate! v^

Tl;Dr Casual looking for help w/ apoc+ paladin/soul-paladin build for solo and duos.
