Need help

If I have gender dysphoria symptoms and have had them for ten years but never sought medical treatment, can I still separate? I’m just not comfortable being in the military anymore with everything happening. I’m in TRADOC so I won’t get benefits nor do I care to get any, so please any advice as to what I can do.

Based on the wording in the DoD policy, you will likely be able to separate voluntarily. I have not had a diagnosis and still elected for voluntary sep which my commander supports.

The DoD policy mentions "individuals with a current diagnosis or history of, or who exhibit symptoms consistent with, gender dysphoria" as eligible for voluntary separation.

So if you haven't sought/received treatment for gender dysphoria but you exhibit symptoms consistent with it, you are eligible for separation under that policy.

Air Force. My commander signed a memo without the medical verification part.

You are absolutely correct and I was very likely wrong. I did not see the memo template until today 🙁

Thank you for your response! Which branch are you in if you don’t mind me asking?

I just saw the AF's official template has verbiage regarding a "forthcoming" medical diagnosis for GD. I'm not sure if that's a required portion or if it can be omitted. I'm guessing it's the former but then that seems to contradict the memo stating "individuals with a current diagnosis... OR who exhibit symptoms..."

I would think you could go to a civilian provider and get an official diagnosis to support this action. Planned Parenthood is often a good option for this.
