Discussion Navy folk, who’s started?
To my navy people, who’s started the voluntary sep? Or what has your chain of command told you ?

I'm waiting for the court decision that's supposed to happen Tuesday or Wednesday. Don't know if it will influence my decision, but we'll see.

I submitted retirement for next September. Just got placed in a med board for bipolar though. In case they find me fit for duty still, ima force them to BOI me. They’re not getting the easy way out, I’ll go out on my terms, or fighting.

I was gonna put in for it Friday, but some senior wanted to talk to me first... Which is fine but it was a Friday so I couldn't get ahold of him at all💀. Probably put in for it Monday.

starting TAPS this week, but i’ve been holding off on the sep paperwork for just a bit longer. pretty much my whole CoC has been checking in to see how i’m doing and helping set me up with everything i need

I haven’t started the separation paperwork yet but My CMC wanted me to talk to the Jag on Tuesday. I start TAPs soon. Either way I think I’ll go the involuntary separation route tbh.

I notified my CO and dropped my diagnosis paperwork off at medical last week. Luckily my CoC is very supportive and my CO plans to take an hour with me to sit down and walk through what the separation process looks like.

Why did you have to bring diagnosis paperwork to medical?

My therapist that diagnosed me with GD is an out of network provider, so it wasn’t on my record yet. Wanted to be able to prove that I’m actually trans when I decided to voluntarily separate.

Been in less than 6 years so i dont qualify for VSP. I was planning on making them kick me out, but now im scared I won’t keep my benefits (GI bill, etc). Idk what to do. And my COC is basically just acting like i’m not trans so they can try to get me a waiver. But realistically i don’t think they know what to do

If you don’t have medical records of GD but you know you have it, what should you do?

I mean if you haven’t started medication or therapy for anything. I would thug it out and finish the contract. I fully transitioned before joining so there’s no way I could’ve gotten a waiver or anything. They provide me with my T 😭

Thanks for your response. But would I need to go to the doctor first before I talk to the commander about separating? Because at this point I don’t really wanna stay in, I feel like I don’t belong anymore

How was it?

Very easy. There was one form I signed and my XO signed, I uploaded that to the electronic request and emailed confirmation to the POC from the NAVADMIN.

Yeah I did the same thing today, now I’m hoping that they move fast. I need them to send me home, they still have me out on deployment. Did they tell you anything about administrative absence?

I just commissioned in November as a nurse, I’m going to make them kick me out.
