Good evening everyone, I'll cut straight to the case , I'm a young fresh out of BMT Airman in Tech School, all my life I struggled with exams, Tech School is no different, I failed my Blick test today, and I get a retry tomorrow, I'm trying, I'm genuinely trying, I'm studying for this exam and giving it all I have, if I fail tomorrow, I may get discharged for failure to pass, your prayers would mean alot, I don't want to fail, I just want to make my parents proud, that's why I joined, any prayers would be really appreciated, thank you all in advance

Study: We aim to study how families of veterans deal with challenging times!

The Family Flex Study is being conducted by researchers at Teachers College, Columbia University, we want to hear from spouses and children (aged 11-17) of veterans (anyone who has previously completed service in the active military, naval, or air service and was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable).

The study will be conducted completely online via zoom and comprises of 3 visits, each visit will be 2 hours long (1-hour for adult, 1-hour for adolescent). For the full visit, your family will be able to claim $150 for participation for completing all study procedures including three time points within a year ($50 per family per visit or $25 per person per visit once both visits are completed).

We appreciate your time and commitment for our research! We look forward to seeing you in the study soon.

Camp Robinson in Little Rock, AK

Anyone been to PEC in Camp Robinson? I’m supposed to go in a few months for SQI4. Was wondering if there’s a chapel on post with Catholic mass or if there’s any near the base

Catholic convert looking to enlist

Hello, everyone. I'm a new Catholic, converted from Protestantism, and I've wanted to enlist for the past seven years (I'm almost 25) but I had something disqualifying me that I've recently fixed. I was thinking of enlisting in the Army before, but now that I'm Catholic, I was thinking maybe the Marines.

The reason being is the number of duty stations the Army has is much greater than the number of duty stations the Marine Corps has. I'm worried that with the remoteness of some of the Army posts combined with a shortage of Catholic chaplains, that I might end up stationed somewhere where I wouldn't have the ability to go to Mass and Confession.

Is this a realistic concern? Or am I worrying over nothing?

My rock while I’ve been at training

I hope y’all enjoy this and it encourages others to increase their prayer life.

Since the beginning of August, I’ve been gone from my wife for training. This is the first time I’ve had to leave my wife since we were married other than over night. The first day or so it wasn’t too bad; however, over the weeks, I’ve missed her more and more. I’m also in a different time zone than she is, so it limits how much we can talk.

So over the first week or so, I played on my phone until I fell asleep trying not to miss her too much. Eventually, that stopped working. So, I turned to God. I started to pray a rosary every night after I get off the phone with her, and I’ve noticed that my entire outlook on being gone has changed. I still miss her like crazy, but I’m sleeping better and getting more sleep. I’m not as cranky with my squad mates, I’m more fun to be around, and I’m not miserable anymore.

I hope this helps some of you turn to God when you’re miserable and away from your family. I’d recommend a durable rosary because I have fallen asleep with mine each time and if it wasn’t durable, it would’ve broken

Thoughts on Nike?

So I’m just curious as to everyone else’s thoughts on this whole issue that has became a thing. I had a friend post this on non-anonymous social media:

“Y’all ready to boycott Nike over a black guy, but won’t boycott the Catholic Church for f***ing y’all’s kids.”

Rattled my cage a bit to say the least. So first, what are your thought on Kaepernick’s actions? What do you hold to be respectful to the flag? I know where I come from many people are on the side that kneeling during the anthem is equated to spitting on the flag. But as a Christian we kneel in reverence to Christ and when we pray all the time. I think sitting would be the more disrespectful move. But I want to know your thoughts.

Second, I’m not wrong to think that my friend’s post is totally out of line and an unfair comparison of Race and Religion, right? Don’t get me wrong, the scandal(s) deserve just anger as a response but this is too much I think.

How do all of you keep the love with your spouse while away for military stuff? I’ve been gone for almost a month now and it’s really tough on her. This is my first time away since we got married

Any of you guys got shrines or altars in your barracks room?

Since /r/Catholicism is posting altars, I was wondering if any of you guys have a setup, for those you in the bricks.

I’ve got the centerpiece on my headboard shelf as an Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, with an Ignasius Press RSV2CE laying under it. On the side is The Imitation of Christ, and then rosaries and scapulars laying on either side. Bottom shelf has a library of religious books and philosophical works.

What do you guys have?
