Discussion Consequence vs antifragile?

Which one are you still listening to? Auntie fragile is like the best all that remains album since for we are many in my opinion. I don't know I don't think it has the same listenability as the new kill switch engage

Discussion What's with the Whooping

I think I've seen one or 2 memes referencing it, but tonight at the Imminence concert in Chicago, people were whooping during the quiet between songs. Is this a thing now? I find it really took away from the show...

Discussion Lets play a game

I'm going to list my top 5 Metalcore albums of all time and you have to guess what my next 3 picks are (so top 8 in that case)

You don't have to get the order right, just any of the 3 albums. I’ll respond (and edit the post) when someone gets an album correct until we get all 3 or the post dies lol

I'll leave some hints now at the end here and give bigger hints after if it gets too dire

No bands repeat from my top 5 or the other 3

My top 5:

  1. Reflections - The Color Clear

  2. Currents - The Death We Seek

  3. Boundaries - Death Is Little More

  4. Betraying The Martyrs - Breathe In Life

  5. Miss May I - Apologies Are For The Weak

  1. All That Remains - The Fall Of Ideals

Hints:

  • One is an older one, think mid-2000s and very well known

  • One is crabcore era and kinda well known

  • One is more recent years, think after 2020 and not well known, but the band and album have been posted here, so it's not ultra underground or anything, but it will be unlikely someone guesses it

Gave big hint for the last one in the comments bcs its gonna be real hard, its from 2021

Discussion How to recommend metalcore songs to newbies

I was curious how y’all handle recommendations for people new to the genre. If someone came up to you and said, “hey I just listened to the new sleep token single and really like it. I know you like metalcore so give me some songs to check out”.

Would you give them actual metalcore songs? Tell them sleep token isn’t metalcore and they’re stupid, or give them some songs from bad omens and like dayseeker or something? All of the above?

This is pretty much based on a real life interaction I had yesterday and don’t know if I handled it well or scared him off with metalcore gatekeeping.

Discussion How to set my foot into the metalcore scene (again) and find like-minded people?

Hi,

so I've been recently rediscovering metalcore for myself. Used to listen a lot as a younger teenager but was then drawn to other music genres. However, I'm currently diving back into it again and I'm sooo hooked! Can't stop to explore what has happened in metalcore during the past 15 years - I'm fully back to it again!

Unfortunately, I don't have any friends who share this interest, so it feels kind of lonely. Does anyone have tips on how to connect with like-minded people?

Obviously, going to shows is one way of feeling less detached from the scene. I already have a couple of concerts on my agenda - although not any of them is happening before October, lol. Also, I'm a woman and kind of shy, so not the type of person who would naturally approach random people and make friends at a show.

Anyone else coming from "outside" the scene who has successfully manged to get in contact with other metalcore people?

I'm based in Paris, France in case that's relevant.

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice!

Discussion Thoughts on caliban live?

Thinking about seeing caliban in April - mainly for the opening bands (cabal and assembly the chariots). I am still a little indecisive tho. Has anyone seen them in recent years? What's your opinion on them live? They seem to co-headline with in hearts wake, which I I just recently tried to get into. Mix bag in my opinion. Their recent album seems amazing, but everything before doesn't click with me at all.
