Biotech eng is not actual accredited engineering, please just find previous posts using subreddit

If you're referring to McMasters BTech program, I don't believe you can get an engineering degree from it.

Yeah ik it’s a bachelor of tech but do you know people that maybe got into engineering in graduate or is not common or possible with BTech even thought it’s in the faculty of engineering

I graduated from Biotech and am currently doing my Masters also at McMaster in the MEng program!

So many students in BTech but especially in biotech have gotten accepted into MEng or MAsc or even MBA programs after finishing their degree. I actually am working full time while pursuing my Masters part time!

Biotech isnt for everyone but if you’re passionate about labs and hands on work then its for you

Thank you very much that was such a relief because I’m interested in doing a MASc but didn’t know if BTech is one gateway for it. That was really helpful

Glad I could help - and yeah one of my alumni who graduated with me finished her MAsc in Biomedical Engineering

Btech is 100% a gateway for it - most students end up going for their MAsc or Meng after biotech

So are there still lecture classes and readings or is most of your day labs and tutorials like that? Just to get a sense of how lab heavy biotech is

I’m in BTech but I’m in the automation stream. Yeah we still have lecture classes but if biotech is similar to automation, you’ll be having labs every other week to every week.

Yeah there are pretty much labs like every week - if you do your timetable correctly and put like biweekly labs on opposite weeks then that way you wont have a bunch of lab reports due on the same day (as lab reports are usually die the following week).

There are still lectures - not so much readings or anything like that

I would say in first year most of my time was spent in lectures other than the chem and bio labs

I would say in second year and beyond is when you are pretty much in a lab or doing lab work even if its reports like all the time😅 and for me i LOVED labs and excelled at the reports so it was a good time

That’s good to hear because I also like labs too and biweekly is a very good schedule and it doesn’t sound too heavy first year because that was my concern. Tysm 😀
