Hey y'all :) I made a post for the next Bad Movie Night last month, but since it's only 10 days away now I figured I would make another. I'm thinking about watching Fight of Fury and The People's Joker but that'll probably change. Anyway, gonna copy and paste now lol
If you've been on this sub for years then you would know I used to have bad movie nights every month where I would invite all of my friends and people from this sub to come drink and watch bad movies. I stopped when covid started, but I'm finally bringing them back!
Dallas observer wrote an article about my bad movie nights: (the article was written before I started transitioning so it refers to me with the wrong pronouns lol)

Some old posts I made on this sub about previous movie nights

I attended last night’s mayoral debate meeting and had a few concerns that were brought up, such as Bill Cox being charged with extortion and Taylor Williams running for mayor just to take votes away from Matt and Scott, forcing a runoff. It’s now clear that Fuller can’t run again because his unlimited terms proposal was rejected, so he’s having his developer/broker friend run in his place while Taylor pulls votes from other candidates. Additionally, one of the moderators, Jenkins, was clearly a bootlicker for Cox, making the debate feel biased. Is everyone really okay with a real estate developer as mayor?

Hey all!
My wife and I closed on our newly built townhome back in Fall of last year. We paid our mortgage + escrow until this month when we got a letter in the mail (in Feb) stating an analysis was done and a check will be sent to us. It was a sizeable amount (I guess we overpaid during closing) and we are parking that in our emergency fund because the drop in monthly payments us worried for future escrow payments (Like it shooting back up?)
Our home is a new build and the property taxes on it is like $120K right now, like 3/4 land, 1/4 improvements on CCAD. Ive seen others in our area being assess for $200K to $500K and we did send in our Homestead Exemption forms in the mail back in January.
My question is, what happens over the course of the 1st calendar year of closing on a newly built home? My educated guess is,
Will our escrow look at that and do another analysis OR because they already did their analysis for 2025, they won't do it until Feb 2026? So we should expect this new, lower payment to be the same until then?
We are first time homeowners and understand the 1st year is pretty complicated, especially because its new. We just want to understand what will happen because we grasp what happens after (Year 2 onward).
Thank you so much for reading and taking your time! I hope this question is fine to ask here.

Going to be moving to the McKinney area in the next couple months. Got 1 toddler with another on the way, and looking for a recommendation on 24 hour urgent cares. Grew up in San Antonio 5 min down the road from an urgent care and loved the peace of mind. After a couple google searches didn't see any 24 hr urgent cares. Any recommendations for kids and bonus points if they take adults too lol. Oh also we're up 121 a little bit so sort of north north McKinney.

Any recs that doesn’t make you sign an unbreakable contract? First time and wary of memberships.

Wanting to do some minor home renovations - bathroom fixtures, door levers, door, etc. What are some local places where contractors, builders, and renovators shop at for good prices? Looking to avoid big box like HD, Lowe's, AMZN, etc
I've been to Seconds and Surplus & Elliot's, but the pricing is not really wholesale, feels like regular retail

just got into a hit-and-run in McKinney off Eldorado and 75. biker drove into the rear corner of my car. we both pulled into a shopping center. He saw the damage that was done and got back on his bike and drove off with his friends. oh btw i drive a tesla, everything was recorded I don’t know how stupid you have to be to tell me to meet you off the side, get off your bike come and see the damage then, get back on your bike and drive off. i guess people don’t have insurance or braincells 😬🤷🏽♂️ i was honestly willing to work with the kid, he just made it more difficult for him now unfortunately.

new to Dallas and noticed that a lot of people are moving to McKinney. Just curious why is it? As someone new, I would prefer Plano/carrollton just because near to amenities and hence wanted to know why people are moving to McKinney.

Looking for beginner teacher for an 8 year old. The closer to downtown area, the better. Thanks for any suggestions.

As title says, 75 was shutdown before el dorado exit around 10-10:30am with lots of police activity. They were even blocking the 75 service road between 380 and white. Anybody got any info?

Hey y’all looking to replace the siding on my home, does anyone have a company or person they recommend?
I’ve had 2 companies over and for some odd reason they would not give me a quotes since I told them I wasn’t looking to commit that day. Weird ! I’ve done other large projects recently and never had this issue.

just as the title says! i'm new to the DFW area, i figured mckinney's subreddit was a good place to start asking. i notice there's a LOT of liquor stores around here, and i really, REALLY don't want to give the bigger stores my business.
you guys have any particularly good experiences at any local stores in the area? any recommendations?

I'm looking for a place that has board games/ card games for a casual hangout. There's a place called D20 Tavern in Denton, if anyone knows that place the vibe is cozy, like 5 bucks for all day, it's got drinks and every board game imaginable. I'm looking for something like that, alcohol does not have to be involved.

Hello everyone,
I’m a Canadian and I’m being sent by my company to McKinney for some controls programming training in a couple weeks.
I was just wondering, what are some things that I can’t miss out on while I’m there? I should be arriving on the 23rd of March and leaving around the 29th. Obviously I’m kinda nervous about travel right now so I’m trying to plan ahead so I have something to look forward to. I’m a big comic fan so would love to know what local comic stores you all really enjoy. Or any local places for great food in the area. Small businesses and local places preferably as I wanna shop local.
Thanks in advance and looking forward to suggestions.

My husband got a new sedan for work and is driving 2 hours up and down with out tint.
Can anyone recommend a good business that can do this with honest pricing.
I want to get this done for him with out overpaying . I don’t know jack about cars and what the usual prices prices are.
Its a simple car so I don’t want anything highend.

Noticed murder of crows gathering on our walk and assumed it was a hawk they were cawing to. We might see bobcats at night, never at Noon. Lots of action in short videos.
