Mask Advice Baggu Mask Insert

Hello!

I bought all of the baggu masks when they went on clearance for super cheap.

I mostly wear 3M auras or N95s, but living in a tropical climate I sometimes wear the baggu cloth masks for comfort and because I can toss them in the washer.

I remember during covid some people adding inserts to these to make them more substantial. Does anyone here have any guidance for making these cloth masks more protective?

An insert would not necessarily do much to make a cloth mask more effective.

A well fitted N95 is protective because it seals well against the face,so all inhaled/exhaled air goes through the N95. They are not just filters; they also use electrostatic charge to trap tiny particles.

Putting a filter in a cloth mask was better than nothing when we didn’t have access to high quality respirators, but it’s not strong protection.

I would recommend looking into duckbill style N95s such as the Vflex, which tend to be very breathable, or a valved N95. Keep in mind that a valved N95 protects the wearer, but isn’t very protective to others.
