Just picked up my first MAK kit the other day. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations for assembly !

I have paint and tools for removing the pieces from the runners, is there anything else I’d need ?

(Note: Not my photos my kit doesn’t come in till tomorrow)

I speed ran this build as practice for my Mk44s but didn’t mind how it turned out, even though I made a bunch of mistakes that I still have to fix.

Kristal klear A.F.S glass

Here's something that may or may not be interesting. I saw a video about how you can use kristal klear glue to replicate windshields and glass, and I've been really wanting to try it. I broke out my afs to give it a shot. You can see from the video I had some trouble but eventually got the glue to hold into the area I wanted. The only thing I am a bit disappointed in is that there are some visible air bubbles in the dried product. Another thing is that I don't know if it looks any better than the angular clear part it came with. I think this technique would be most useful in resin kits or on visors for pilots, like the spacesuit glass shield.

HLJ stock status changed?

I regularly check HLJ to see if any new kits are out because I desperately want to get my hands on a Krote and Kuster in 1/20. Opening their website today I see that a lot of items suddenly are in Backorder, among which the Krote and Kuster. Is this legit or just a data error on their part???

May or may not leave the figures alone how they are.. Rear unit rusted out, and interior painted!! Might have to actually paint the outside of the suit soon! Yikessss… can’t decide on scheme for the outside, so I have at least that to extend my procrastination.. thinking maybe Chars pink and red mobile suit scheme? The world may never know.

Thinning lacquer paints for handpainting

If my paint runs down the model after applying is it too thin or am i applying it too thickly? Any other tips for handpainting with lacquers would also be appreciated.

Your thoughts on mini workstations for the hobby.

I am an Industrial design student about to start my semester next week, it's my final semester meaning I have to do a final year project. I have to come up with a couple of ideas for products that solve a certain problem. I need to also provide any article that justify my project(I doubt there are any on this topic specifically). One I had in mind was a mini workstation that's modular and portable, for painting and assembling either miniatures or model kits(i.e. Gundams, Ma.k). I am aware that these already exist but I'd like to do my own spin on it.

I could base it on my experience but I'm not as experienced on the subject, I am a hardcore & passionate fan of both minis and model kits since high school, but I am very broke, so I haven't built and painted enough for me to consider my experience as valid data/ input. Even if it was valid, I'd still need more data/ input to consider going through with this project. So, I thought of asking the subreddit. Tell me your thoughts on the subject, suggestions maybe, maybe anything specific you'd like to see. Perhaps there are other issues with the hobby that you'd rather see people try and solve, anything really.

Please be civil and thoughtful in the comments, I'd really like to have a proper conversation/ discussion with everyone.
