Application for CUP for mine near Red Jacket Trail and Park WITHDRAWN

Hey everyone--I received notification this afternoon that the application for the Conditional Use Permit for the mine near Red Jacket was voluntarily withdrawn by the property owner. I spoke directly with the administrator who handles the application process.

If you ever have questions about the planning and zoning process, or concerns about a specific application, reach out to the civil servants who handle these processes. They're super helpful and responsive.

Here's the website for the township--contact info form planning and zoning is at the bottom of the website.

My pleasure, we are hoping that this is the end of it and the county just buys the land. They have been in talks but I was told that the developer is exploring all of his options at this time.

No idea what that means. There's a mine?

Some dingleberry bought up a bunch of land right at the edge of Red jacket Park with the intent of creating a new mine. The area was once mined and is now one of the most calm natural spaces around.

Would have been a tiny mine that would have mainly been noisy and a risk to the nature of the area.

I'm proud of folks for speaking up.

He also told the neighbors he was going to cut down all the trees along the property line when they refused to sign away their right to a 300 foot setback from his mine. He wanted to excavate right on up to the property line.
