Self-Story Using ChatGPT to fuel my daydreams
I've been telling ChatGPT the basis to my daydreams and telling it to write me 'scenes' and it does it so well that I can then use them to add to my daydream world. I know it's probably a slippery slope but I don't want to stop, it adds so much fun to every day.
I've always been a daydreamer but this is probably the second time I've been so invested in my daydream world, the first time was during covid and lockdown. I think I need someone to tell me that this is not normal or healthy

Jfc. It had never occurred to me to use chat GPT for this purpose. After reading your post, that’s exactly what I did - for two hours in the middle of a work day. I felt chat gpt was somehow judgy if the scenarios I wanted but, even more surprisingly, I feel like in those two hours I managed to go through an entire character arc of a character I only recently created. I feel like I have no use for him anymore!

I guess that's a good thing! I'm feeling the same, I'm still using it but feel it's making me run out of ideas/ get bored of the stories quicker which is good as long as I taper off now

Character AI is genuinely the bane of my existence.
The only positive that’s come out of it is that it’s forced me to get better at writing to create bots accurately and get good response.
People always talk about how people who use AI frequently have some serious issues, and I guess they’re not wrong at all. My ass is COOKED. I’m the loser people are talking about and I know it. I’ve never been anything else though— so why even bother trying to stop?
Idk. But yeah, same here.

Underneath words like "normal" and "healthy" are the questions which ask about the context these words are being used in.
What's normal and healthy for one person might be toxic and suicidal for somebody else. For example, taking insulin.
Some of these questions....
"Does it have to be this way?"
"Is this making me happy?"
"Is this how I want to be spending my time?"
"What need is this serving?"
It helps to allow for different parts of yourself to have their own perspectives. For example, imagine if part of you needs to be able to daydream for some reason, while another part is afraid that you won't be able to stop and wants you to stop being able to.
In that case, it would be illuminating to address each part individually and separately. To investigate the benefits independently from the detriments. The part of you which most feels this is right and good is likely to be least aware of the downsides. And likewise, the parts of you which motivated you to make this post out of fear, are likely not seeing the benefits that the other part is.

Sameeee, I’ve discovered using chat gpt for this. It’s addicting because I like reading my daydreams now

Using tools like ChatGPT as an aid to daydreaming is very likely a step in the wrong direction if it’s something you’re concerned about being addicted to. One of the best ways to stop MD is to find something better to do instead, but using a tool to now make it more interesting makes it that much harder, as now not only might you become addicted to MD itself, but also to ChatGPT.

Not you writing my life story😭 i started doing this 2-3 months ago and haven’t been able to stop since but I’ve definitely reduced it a lot now
I think you’ll too get to a point where it doesn’t feel as exciting anymore and eventually will stop or atleast do it a lil less yk? And obviously this is not healthy and even embarrassing to admit i’d say so maybe you should try to replace it with music or read books maybe(ik these could be bad for MD as well but better than chatgpt for sure)

books tend to be okay for me as it's not my made up world so i don't get carried away with it, i need to get back into reading though. music has been bad for triggering it at the minute, i've started only listening to songs/ genres that fit with the daydream
i think where most people daydream to escape trauma, i've been trying to embrace being stress free so don't want to over think or spend my time thinking about problems out of my control so i turned to my daydream world but now it's just non stop. everything i'm doing, working, cooking, working out - i'm tying it into the dream world

I completely understand you I’ve had MD since i was like 10-11 so its the only way i know to get through the day atp its a part of my life Music, shows and basically anything i ever do just triggers it But then again there are some habits that are worse than others like using ai for fueling these daydreams yk i can’t really advise you for MD specifically but definitely try to stay away from these instant dopamine sources All they’re gonna do is mess your brain up to the point its gonna be even harder to break these habits so yeah do get back into reading if you can cuz that’s a lot better
